Weekly Warp-Up: Humorous Trailer Edition

No, that’s not a typo. Welcome to the Weekly Warp-Up, your weekly wrap-up of the biggest and the best articles posted at Warp Zoned this week…

February is right around the corner, but before we look ahead to the next four weeks with our monthly “Games of…” article, we went hands-on with two of February’s most anticipated titles:

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, an RPG with the development know-how of Ken Rolston (the lead designer of Morrowind and Oblivion), the lore of fantasy writer R.A. Salvatore, the art of Todd McFarlane (creator of Spawn), and the financial backing of former pitching ace (and current WoW addict) Curt Schilling.

…and…

Resident Evil Revelations, Capcom’s next entry in their zombie-filled saga. This time… they’re on a boat!

Hit the jump to read the rest of the Weekly Warp-Up, where we highlight the biggest game news of the week and a trio of tremendously awesome trailers.

The Week in Reviews…

  • Amy: A Disease-Ridden Corpse of a Game
  • Scarygirl: Be Afraid, Be Wary & Afraid

The Week in New Games…

Amazing Paperboy Delivers…

  • The Xbox 360 version of The Witcher 2 finally has a release date: April 17.
  • “Bad Box Art” Mega Man and Pac-Man join the fray (only on the PS3 and Vita) in Street Fighter X Tekken.
  • The release date for Aliens: Colonial Marines has been nuked from orbit once more. It’s mostly expected to come out in the Fall. Mostly.
  • Nintendo re-announced a side-scrolling Super Mario game for the 3DS. The best part? It’ll likely be out this year.
  • Chris Pratt does his thing in a duel for a new Kinect Star Wars trailer.
  • Rising Star Games makes like Eddie Murphy Neil Diamond and announced they’re coming to America.
  • Saints Row: The Third has shipped almost four million copies, so THQ has decided this is the best time to stop publishing kiddie licensed games.
  • Believe it or not, Tetris was the bestselling PSN game of 2011.
  • Mark your calendars: QuakeCon 2012 will be held from August 2-5.
  • Rob Riggle (formerly of “The Daily Show”) introduces Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3‘s first downloadable maps. Activision revealed the game’s complete DLC release schedule a day later.
  • Namco Bandai has delayed the gravity-defying Inversion.

It’s a Secret to Everybody…

  • The latest round of “inside sources” say the Xbox 720 is six times as powerful as the Xbox 360 and will be released in 2013.

And Finally…
Netflix has put the kibosh on their game rentals-by-mail plan. Rest easy GameFly, looks like you’re still the only game in town for a little bit longer.
