Nintendo’s 8-Bit Summer continues with Kirby’s Pinball Land, Sword of Hope II

Nintendo’s 8-Bit Summer continues with the addition of two Game Boy classics to the 3DS eShop: Kirby’s Pinball Land and The Sword of Hope II.

Johnny Kung Fu, a brawler where players take on The Mr. Wang Gang, and Sweet Memories Blackjack, a blackjack sim that pits players against Japanese schoolgirls, were also added to the 3DS eShop. This week’s “Game of the Weekend” also comes from the 3DS eShop. WayForward’s Mighty Switch Force! is on sale for $2.99 all weekend long.

This week’s Nintendo Download includes four other games, including Frogger: Hyper Arcade Edition, and you can read all about them after the break.

Kirby’s Pinball Land (3DS eShop) – The “8-Bit Summer” series continues with this classic Kirby game from 1993. It’s a pinball race to check out surprise enemies and pitfalls in a number of fast-paced, uncharted worlds.

The Sword of Hope II (3DS eShop) – Originally released in 1996 for the hand-held Game Boy system, this role-playing game is now available in the Nintendo eShop as part of the “8-Bit Summer” series. Play as Prince Theo and save the kingdom of Riccar.

Johnny Kung Fu (3DS eShop) – The evil Mr. Wang Gang has kidnapped Johnny’s girlfriend. Become a kung fu expert and fight to rescue her in this old-school action game that mixes the old with the new.

Sweet Memories Blackjack (3DS eShop) – Sweet Memories Blackjack is a card game that allows you to play blackjack with a number of different girls. These Japanese high school girls are both cute and sweet additions to the poker club you’ve created.

Candle Route (DSiWare) – Sparky has been entrusted to bring the light to the Crayon Castle before nightfall. The castle is so packed with candles that without your help he’ll never make it in time!

Ace Mathician (DSiWare) – You play as a cute Koala named Ace who loves fruit! Unfortunately a few delicious pieces of fruit are just out of reach and you need to change the positions of the platforms to get to the fruit! You can change the positions of the platform by entering a math formula.

Frogger: Hyper Arcade Edition (WiiWare) – Jump into the action with classic and brand-new game modes like Tile Capture, Battle Royale, Freak Out and more that expand the challenge of Frogger’s style of run-and-dodge gameplay. Customize your game experience through a variety of different skins, from the modern neon style of HYPER ARCADE to the 8-bit sprites from Frogger, Castlevania and even CONTRA!

The King of Fighters ’96 (Wii Virtual Console) – Originally released in 1996, this is the third installment in The King of Fighters game series. The series features an SNK all-star lineup, with characters from games like Fatal Fury, Ikari Warriors, Psycho Soldier and Art of Fighting competing with each other for the title of the world’s strongest fighter.
