UPDATE: Warner Bros. has confirmed the XBLA edition will also be released on December 4. The story below has been updated to reflect this.

Just in time for the theatrical release of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has announced that Guardians of Middle-Earth will be available for the PlayStation Netwok and Xbox Live Arcade on December 4. The console MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) will also be available on December 4 in a special retail package that will include a voucher for a downloadable copy of the game and a Season Pass good for additonal post-launch content.

The downloadable version of Guardians of Middle-Earth will be priced at $14.99/1200 Microsoft Points while the retail version will be priced at $29.99.

The Season Pass will include access to “new game maps, one bonus gameplay mode, and several additional good and evil characters, some of which will be based on key characters in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.”
