Polyphony Digital’s Kazunori Yamauchi reveals more Gran Turismo 6 details

It’s official… Gran Turismo 6 will be available exclusively for the PlayStation 3 this holiday season.

The news was delivered by Kazunori Yamauchi, the President of Polyphony Digital and creator of the Gran Turismo series, during a special Gran Turismo anniversary celebration being held at England’s Silverstone Race Circuit. PlayStation Europe’s Twitter feed captured all the juicy bits from Yamauchi’s speech including confirmation that GT6 will feature a new engine, a new Course Maker, and the ability to form racing communities. Here we go…

“The game engine will be renewed for GT6, we’ll be cleaning it up, making it smoother for the future… The rendering engine will be completely renewed for GT6… Will be a revamped Physics Engine, new suspension, tire and aerodynamics modelling,” Yamauchi said.

The developer continued: “There will be a New Course Maker, spanning several tens of square Kilometers… You will be able to organise and form your own racing communities. You can also organise your own championships.”

Finally, Gran Turismo 6 will include some kind of mobile/tablet integration which will allow players to be “involved in the community on any device.”

Sony has also released a teaser trailer for the game, which you can view above.
