The Games of July 2014

gamesof0714-header

There’s not a lot going on gaming-wise in July, which gives us all a chance to do what we do best: catch up on our backlogs. For those of us who are into what’s coming out, it’s almost all re-releases: Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition, Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee – New N Tasty, and The Last of Us Remastered are on our list. Not that we’re complaining – they’re some great games to replay! Read on to get the full details on what the Warp Zoned crew is going to get down to in the hot month of July.

Crickets… Crickets… Crickets…

No, that’s not fair. I am genuinely excited about Wii Sports Club. I had a ton of fun with Wii Sports back in the day, and an enhanced and expanded edition of one of the Wii’s best games seems like a good deal. Sure, I could have grabbed the downloadable versions as they were released, but a retail disc always trumps a digital download.

I’m really interested in Child of Light, and I’m considering getting it for the Vita, because it seems like the perfect game to play on the go. I already got Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition, and even though I already beat it on PS3, I’m really interested in picking up The Last of Us Remastered, because it was such an amazing experience.

Oh, who am I kidding? I’m going to dive into my backlog and resurface later. See ya!

July is a pretty thin month for releases, but Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee – New N Tasty might have to get a look… once I actually own a PS4.

I have fond memories of the original games.

I concur – Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee – New ‘n Tasty is my pick of the month. I loved the original, and having it remade in HD is exactly what I wanted. And speaking of remaking games, I can’t wait for The Last of Us Remastered. I never played the PS3 title, so having the definitive version on my PS4 is just fine by me.

And although I already played the original, I highly suggest picking up Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition, especially if you never played the title. It’s hands-down one of the best downloadable games you’ll play.
