Way back in 1993, the original Doom was playable on PCs with a 386 processor, which was seven-year-old tech at the time. The next game in the series, also known as Doom, will require a little bit more horsepower under the hood.

Released by id Software earlier this week on Bethesda.net, the minimum and recommended specifications for Doom can be found right here:

Minimum System Requirements

  • OS: Windows 7/8.1/10 (64-Bit Versions)
  • CPU: Intel Core i5-2400/AMD FX-8320 or better
  • RAM: 8 GB
  • Hard Drive: 55 GB
  • GPU: Nvidia GTX 670 2GB/AMD Radeon HD 7870 2GB or better
  • Internet: Download of additional files from Steam (total amount 45 GB) is required to run the game. Requires Steam activation and broadband internet connection for Multiplayer and SnapMap.

Recommended System Requirements

  • CPU: Intel Core i7-3770/AMD FX-8350 or better
  • RAM: 8 GB
  • Hard Drive: 55 GB
  • GPU: Nvidia GTX 970 4GB/AMD Radeon R9 290 4GB or better

Doom will be available for the PC on May 13, but players who wish to pre-order through Steam can begin pre-loading it on May 11 at midnight (Eastern Time). PS4 and Xbox One owners will also be able to “Fight Like Hell” on May 13, and they’ll want to ensure they have 50 GB of hard drive space available to properly play Doom.
