Nintendo Download: Tumblestone, Monster Hunter Generations, four Virtual Console games, more
It’s another big week for the Nintendo eShop, especially if you’re a fan of nearly-forgotten platformers from the 90s.
However, this week’s spotlight title is most definitely Monster Hunter Generations, the latest game in the long-running series from Capcom. Set to be released for the 3DS tomorrow, Monster Hunter Generations is being touted as the “most customizable” game in the Monster Hunter franchise, offering players the chance to use “four unique Hunting Styles and special Hunter Arts abilities.”
Jumping over to Nintendo’s home console, Wii U owners will be able to download Tumblestone, a modern match-3 puzzler that also serves as an homage to the multiplayer puzzlers that were all the rage back in the 90s. And speaking of the 90s, a trio of new Virtual Console releases (Bonk’s Adventure, New Adventure Island, and R-Type) will let Wii U owners relive some of the less-remembered (but no less classic) corners of that decade.
Finally this week, we jump back to the 3DS for another Virtual Console classic from the 90s, Final Fight. Capcom’s brawler helped define the genre, and many still look to it as a highlight of the punching and kicking oeuvre.
More information on all of these games (and a few other new releases) can be found after the break.
Wii U eShop
Tumblestone – Tumblestone transforms the action-puzzle genre into a deep and cerebral puzzle-solving experience. Race your friends in both local and online multiplayer, or challenge yourself in the story mode or infinite arcade modes.
Bonk’s Adventure – An old-school side-scrolling TurboGrafx-16 action game is now on the Wii U console. Gameplay is simple: Just head butt your enemies as you progress through each stage. Try to keep Bonk from losing any lives while attacking enemies and avoiding hazardous obstacles.
New Adventure Island – In this TurboGrafx-16 adventure, Master Higgins must set out to rescue children and his beloved Tina. Throw hatchets and boomerangs, hop on skateboards and guide Master Higgins safely to the goal in each area.
R-Type – This is a completely faithful port – right down to the character details – of the famous shooting-game masterpiece. Destroy the POW armor and one of six different units will appear, which you can then use to power up your R-9 ship to get ready for the epic bosses at the end of each stage.
Chroma Blast – In Chroma Blast you will test your reflexes and survival skills against waves of enemies. Shoot down enemies of various colors to obtain a high score and survive. Collect Power ups and use modifiers to help you achieve the best score possible. Compete against your friends and other players online to see who can be the top player.
Jackpot 777 – Realistic slot machine game with simple controls and endless fun. Bet one credit or go for a big win with the MAX BET! Winning combinations include 7’s, Fruit, Bars, and more. Classic Slot Machine action at its best!
Reptilian Rebellion – The Reptilian Rebellion has just started. Wait, don’t you know what reptilians are? There are thousands of these green lizard-men living amongst us, human beings, but now they have become too dangerous and want to eat our brains. Don’t let reptilians rule the world and send them to hell.
Monster Hunter Generations – On July 15, get ready to hunt monsters in style with Monster Hunter Generations, exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems! Featuring four unique Hunting Styles, special Hunter Arts abilities and more, this is the most customizable Monster Hunter experience to date.

While attempting to skip out on a homework assignment and meet up with his friends at the arcade, a teenager by the name of Yusis is suddenly enveloped in a blinding light and transported to Kreisia… a world where fantasy meets reality.
