My friends, this is the end. Nintendo announced that they’re officially ending production of the Wii U in the very near future. Was Nintendo’s strange tablet controller a slow-burning secret success or a disaster from the very start? That question will probably be argued over and pondered until the real end of time, but for know, I think we can all agree that the Wii U was an extremely interesting experiment and it hosted some incredible games.
We’re also nearing the end of the year, and that means a few annual traditions are circling back around:
- Black Friday is less than a week away and here’s a look at the game deals you’ll find at Toys R Us.
- The 2016 Game Awards will be handed out in early December, and Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End leads the way with eight nominations.
- Sony PlayStation Experience event will also be held in early December and they’ve announced which publishers and developers will be attending this year.

New Game Announcements
- Mages of Mystralia will cast a spell on the PS4 (and maybe the Xbox One) in Spring 2017.
- GamePump is a subscription service that will bring classic games to Steam starting in January 2017.
Pre-Launch Updates and Release Date Announcements
- The Resident Evil 7: Biohazard Collector’s Edition includes a severed finger (USB Drive) and a music box (shaped like Baker Mansion).
- Amy Hennig’s Star Wars game won’t be “Star Wars Uncharted.”
- Batman: The Telltale Series – Episode 4: Guardian of Gotham will be released on November 22.
- Atlus pushed the release of Persona 5 back to April 4, but added dual Japanese/English audio to the game.
- Super Mario Run will be released for all iOS devices on December 15.

- Overwatch is getting a “Free Weekend” until Monday.
- Microsoft is repackaging backwards compatible Xbox 360 games in Xbox One cases.

- Pokemon Sun and Moon might be released for the Nintendo Switch as Pokemon Stars.
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild might not be a launch title for the Nintendo Switch.
- Nintendo hasn’t announced the official price tag yet, but Toys R Us Canada and GAME UK both priced the Nintendo Switch at $250 this week.
