Publishers and developers have officially run out of interesting things to talk about in 2016. So with two weeks left in the year, people have started to look to 2017, which promises to be a huge year for the industry.
This is especially true for Nintendo, which released Super Mario Run for iOS devices earlier this week, and is planning to launch the Switch in March. So as we get ready for the consolemaker’s big presentation planned for January 12, we updated our Big List of Nintendo Switch Games to reflect the latest announcements.
Also this week, we’re looking forward to Resident Evil 7: Biohazard in January, so we played through the “Midnight Version” of the game’s Beginning Hour demo.

New Game Announcements
- Valkyria Revolution will be released in Spring 2017 for the PS4, Vita, and Xbox One.
- Turtle Rock has partnered with Perfect World to produce a free-to-play co-op FPS with “dark fantasy” elements.
- Old Time Hockey will bring back arcade-style sports on the PC, PS4, and Xbox One in Early 2017.
Pre-Launch Updates and Release Date Announcements
- Nintendo will take the Switch on a multi-city North American tour before its launch in March.
- Ubisoft offered lots of new details on For Honor‘s single-player campaign, Faction War mode, and upcoming Closed Beta.
- Yooka-Laylee will be released on April 11. but the Wii U version has been canceled. Thankfully, Playtonic is working with Nintendo to bring it to the Switch later in 2017.
- Pit People will receive an Early Access launch for the Xbox One and Steam on January 13.

- Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare was the best-selling game of November 2016, but it actually sold much less than last year’s Black Ops III.
- The Xbox One Backwards Compatibility list reached 300 titles this week and 50% of Xbox One owners have used it.
- New Pokemon from Pokemon Gold/Silver were added to Pokemon Go.
