Xbox Store Today: Pit People, Rise & Shine, Dead Effect 2, more

Let’s switch things up for a minute and talk about today’s Xbox Games Store update.

The big news is that The Behemoth is ready to make Pit People available to Xbox One owners through the Xbox Game Preview program. The turn-based strategy RPG features The Behemoth’s distinctive hand-drawn, along with the acidic vocal stylings of Will Stamper. Pit People will grow throughout its time in the Game Preview program, and the developer plans to add more quests, collectible items, story missions, world maps, and other polish to the game as time goes on.

One other hand-drawn game will make its way to the Xbox Games Store today, as Super Awesome Hyper Dimensional Mega Team has released Rise & Shine for the Xbox One. Rise & Shine is a side-scrolling shooter that SuperMegaTeam refers to as a “think and gun” that combines elements of “arcade shooters, bullet hells, and puzzle platformers.”

Finally this week, Dead Effect 2 will give Xbox One the chance to unwind and blast a zombie in the face using “countless weapons, gear, and body implants.”

More information on all of these games (and a few other new releases) can be found after the break.

Game Preview… Pit People ($14.99)
In our fast-paced, turn-based, co-op adventure you’ll quest and explore, find awesome loot, customize your fighters, recruit strange species, and fight in tournaments! A full cast of tragically unique heroes awaits as you plot a course across an apocalyptic wonderland! Dogged at every step by a mysterious and power-hungry narrator (Will Stamper, BattleBlock Theater), you’ll need to rally your troops and steel your wits if you hope to survive a hostile world filled with sinister electrobots, deadly vampires, and brutally adorable cupcake people!

Rise & Shine ($14.99)
Rise & Shine is a true “think and gun” that combines elements of arcade shooters, bullet hells, and puzzle platformers to create a new blend of strategy and viscera. Prepare to dash flurries of missiles and avoid unseen traps as you fight to prevent its destruction. It’s going to take all you’ve got to stay alive in the face of lethal robot armadas, enormous bosses, giant death wheels, and (of course) brainthirsty zombies. The story will take you back to the ESS Meridian, right to where the original plot ended. However, you are not meant to take a rest; something is brewing deep within the recesses of the spaceship. It is much more dangerous than a horde of the undead – it is threatening to enslave your mind and bend it to its will.

Sylvio ($12.99)

The voices of the dead captured on her reel-to-reel recorder tells a tale of a cursed land and a wicked family cult, currently living in the park. First-person horror with a multi-layered story.
