Xbox Store Today: Chroma Squad, Shadow Warrior 2, The Last Blade, more

It’s “90s Day” on the Xbox Games Store today, and that’s because three games inspired by the grungy decade are now available to download for the Xbox One.

That inspiration is front and center in Bandai Namco’s Chroma Squad, which uses “Inspired by Saban’s Power Rangers” right in its marketing. The tactical RPG follows five actors who want to create their own show like Power Rangers… but then an actual alien invasion throws a wrench into their plans.

Also available to download today is Shadow Warrior 2 from Flying Wild Hog. The “offbeat” shooter sequel features the “further misadventures” of Lo Wang as he lives out his days as a reclusive mercenary. Finally today, Xbox One owners will be able to download The Last Blade, a fighting game from SNK that was originally released in 1997.

You can learn more about all of these games (and a few other new releases) after the break.

Xbox One Games

Chroma Squad
Chroma Squad is a tactical RPG about five stunt actors who decide to quit their jobs and start their own Power Rangers-inspired TV show! Cast actors, purchase equipment and upgrades for your studio, craft weapons and giant Mechas out of cardboard and duct tape. Once the cameras are rolling, you will control your cast of five colored-jumpsuit-clad warriors in dramatic, turn-based battles!

Shadow Warrior 2
Shadow Warrior 2 is the stunning evolution of Flying Wild Hog’s offbeat first-person shooter following the further misadventures of former corporate shogun Lo Wang. Now surviving as a reclusive mercenary on the edge of a corrupted world, the formidable warrior must again wield a devastating combination of guns, blades, magic and wit to strike down the demonic legions overwhelming the world.

The Last Blade
The Last Blade is a fighting game released by SNK in 1997, set in Japan’s Edo period with a roster of unique swordsmen to choose from. Thematically the game is similar to the Samurai Shodown series, but also features a wealth of innovative systems to set it apart. One such system is the ability to choose between “Power” and “Speed” styles when selecting a character. The “Power” system focuses on high damage while the “Speed” system focuses more on intricate combos and speed. The game also features a unique “Hajiki” ability that allows players to deflect or repel attacks. The game also allows the player to cancel super attacks into Desperation Moves adding another strategic element to the game. Finally, the game features a wealth of flashy attacks thanks to the inclusion of Super Secret Skills and Super Desperation Moves.

Skylar & Plux: Adventure on Clover Island
Skylar & Plux: Adventure on Clover Island is an enthusiastic revival of the legendary 3D-platformer genre with classic gameplay, playful gadgets, and a lighthearted story set in a gorgeous, colorful world reminiscent of childhood adventures. Go on an action-packed adventure, collect gadgets to help you explore a beautiful paradise, and save it from destruction.

Mayan Death Robots: Arena
Mayan Death Robots reinvents the artillery genre in a Mayan setting invaded by alien killing machines. Pick a robot from the roster and enter the arena to destroy your opponent’s power core. Aim your weapon before the timer runs out, but don’t be distracted by the pretty scenery: when the rockets start flying, you already need to plan your next move! Will you choose to move your robot to a better vantage point, or will you build defenses to keep your opponent from landing a killing blow?
