Xbox Store Today: The Escapists 2, Guardians of the Galaxy Episode 3, more

Your midweek Xbox Games Store update is here, and two big games are now available to download for the Xbox One.

Team17 makes a break for it with The Escapists 2, their retro-styled jailbreak simulator. Players will follow the rules by day, and sneak through vents and tunnels at night in the search of sweet freedom. Also… there’s a Space Prison.

Speaking of space, Telltale Games will reunite with the Guardians of the Galaxy in the final frontier with the launch of Guardians of the Galaxy – Episode 3: More Than A Feeling. The third chapter will introduce an “eccentric being” for players to meet, as they continue to deal with the sibling rivalry between Gamora and Nebula.

More details about both of these games (and a few other releases) can be found after the break.

Xbox One Games

The Escapists 2
The Ultimate Prison Sandbox! Risk it all to breakout from the toughest prisons in the world. Explore the biggest prisons yet, with multiple floors, roofs, vents and underground tunnels. You’ll have to live by the prison rules, attending roll call, doing prison jobs and following strict routines, all the while secretly engineering your bid for freedom! Your prison escape antics will take you from the frosty Fort Tundra, to a train hurtling through the desert, and even to the final frontier!

Guardians of the Galaxy – Episode 3: More Than A Feeling
After tracing the origin of the Eternity Forge to a mysterious temple, the Guardians encounter an eccentric being who might hold the key to unlocking the relic’s true power. But with Gamora and Nebula busy wrestling with the past and Hala still bent on reclaiming the Forge by any means necessary, it falls to Peter to make a crucial decision that could change the fate of the galaxy — and the Guardians — forever.

Knock-Knock
Three generations of Lodgers have occupied the cabin, but lately, the walls seem to undulate, skittering unknowns shift in the darkness, and an unruly growl seeps from the attic. Are they hallucinations pecking at the insomnia-afflicted Lodger, or the gnarled remnants of a darker secret? The last rays of dusk fade, and the dreadful things come out to play. Survive the night while maintaining the dilapidated cabin and preventing the threadbare sanity of the Lodger from unraveling completely. Hide from the grotesque intruders peering from the gloom and seek out the key to ending the Lodger’s ordeal.

Super Comboman: Smash Edition
Enter a new action hero. An energetic islander with a funked up mullet nugget, wearer of loud Hawaiian shirts, eater of chocolate chip cookies, and owner of a talking fanny pack (yeah, a talking fanny pack). His name is Struggles, and he’s the working class hero with an ‘All You Can’ attitude, a spinning pile driver, and fireball moves to match.

SwapQuest
SwapQuest is a captivating new mix of easy-to-learn puzzle mechanics and old-school RPG elements. The kingdom of Aventana is under attack by a cloud of demons known as the Horde. Many legends tell of its destructive power and how it devours everything in reach. Play as Prince Wilbert or Princess Wilma and go on a journey through the land to become stronger, wiser and braver as you fight cursed monsters, find invaluable treasures and discover the secrets of Aventana.

ChromaGun
Welcome to ChromaTec’s test lab! You’re here to test our newest, state-of-the-art military-grade color-technology: The ChromaGun (patent pending)! Use it to try and solve our meticulously designed test chambers. The basic principle is as easy as applying it is complex: Exit the chambers via the exit doors. But be weary of the WorkerDroids in charge of maintaining the chambers. They’re not exactly what you and I would call “human friendly”. Use the ChromaGun to colorize walls and WorkerDroids to progress in the chambers. WorkerDroids are attracted to walls of the same color. Using that mechanic, try to reach the exit door of each chamber. Some doors are more complicated to use than others: They can only be opened using door triggers and only stay open as long as the triggers are occupied.

Spartan
Spartan is an epic 2D platformer powered by Unreal Engine 4. Featuring silky smooth animations, pixel-perfect controls, challenging gameplay, huge non-linear levels and an awesome original soundtrack, Spartan is taking classic platforming to the next level, UE4 turbocharged style! Help King Leo recover his City-State’s stolen goods and punish whoever is responsible for daring to cross him. With only your trusty shield and sword to protect you, you will face ferocious mythical monsters and bone snapping traps in this intense platforming adventure.

Rivals of Aether
Rivals of Aether is an indie fighting game set in a world where warring civilizations summon the power of Fire, Water, Air, and Earth. Play with up to four players locally or up to two players online.

Blacksea Odyssey
Enter the Blacksea Odyssey, a violent top-down rogue-lite space shoot ‘em up RPG brimming with colossal creatures and runic technologies. Explore dangerous, interstellar spacescapes as you hunt enormous space-behemoths with a harpoon and rune-infused spears. Unlock fierce space-huntsmen and collect runes to customize your spear and space-board to hunt as you please in the deadliest competition in the universe – the Blacksea Odyssey!

Masquerada: Songs and Shadows
One of Ombre’s finest sleuths, Cicero Gavar, was exiled for a crime against the state five years ago, but he is now summoned back to Ombre to solve the mysterious kidnapping of the diplomat Razitof Azrus. As other members of the Masquerada join his investigation, all having their doubts about one another within this culture of deception, their faith will be pushed to the limit as a deeper conspiracy lurks in the shadows of Ombre. Navigate the masked deceptions and deadly magic of a vividly Venetian city in this fully voiced pause-for-tactics RPG.
