Apple removes Home Button in new iPhone X and also announces iPhone 8

Apple held their annual iPhone unveiling today and it looks like the company’s war on buttons will continue. The iPhone X will remove the Home Button and replace it with a fully glass screen. Meanwhile, the iPhone 8 will offer an incremental upgrade over the currently-available iPhone 7, and it’ll retain the Home Button.

More details on both phone models can be found after the break.

Introducing iPhone X [Apple]

The rumors are true, the iPhone X won’t have a Home Button. However, it will have a boatload of new features, and it’ll be available on November 3, with a price starting at $999:

It’s all screen. Face ID lets you unlock with a look. Portrait Lighting lets you define the light in a scene. Wireless charging. Augmented reality. A11 Bionic, the most powerful and smartest chip ever in a smartphone. This is iPhone X. Say hello to the future.

iPhone 8 — iPhone in a Whole New Light [Apple]

The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus will be available on September 22. The iPhone 8 will be priced at $699, while the iPhone 8 Plus will be a tad pricier at $799:

iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. A new durable glass design and Retina HD display with True Tone. Wireless charging, augmented reality, and even better cameras. A11 Bionic, the most powerful and smartest chip in a smartphone. And introducing Portrait Lighting on iPhone 8 Plus. A new generation of iPhone.

If you’re not quite ready for a new phone, Apple will continue to sell the iPhone SE ($349), iPhone 6S/6S Plus ($449), and iPhone 7/7 Plus ($549).
