Warpback: What We Played in September 2014

warpback0914-header

Believe it or not, but Destiny didn’t dominate the gaming time of the Warp Zoned staff last month. Instead, there was much backlog playing along with preparation for some of October’s big new releases. Are we out of touch? Nah, most people would say that we play by our own rules…

Bingewatching the entirety of True Detective (depressingly beautiful) and the second season of Under the Dome (just depressing) didn’t leave me much video game time in September. But I did manage to play a ton of Doritos Crash Course 2, because Microsoft has decided to stop supporting the surprisingly fun free game on October 15. I will never understand the logic behind removing support for a single-player game, but that’s Microsoft for you. When have they ever done anything that could be considered rational?

I’m also still putting plenty of time into Hat Productions’ Max Gentlemen. Who’s got two thumbs and is the third-best hat stacker in the world? This Guy

September was a busy month for me! I’m still going at Pokemon Platinum, though I fear I’ve reached the Pokemonnui point where I either need to slog through this tedious spot I’m at or take a break. I’m still loving InFamous: First Light – playing as Fetch is so much fun! I’ve also been in lots of local multiplayer situations – Sports Friends (all of them!), ClusterPuck 99, Real Boxing: Actual Boxing, Gang Beasts, and Elbow Room are all games I’ve had a blast with in September. I’ve played some other games here and there, like Blue Estate, Road Not Taken, and Nuclear Throne, which Anthony Amato has been adorably obsessed with. And for the first time ever I’ve gotten addicted to a game on my phone – a cute little number named Triple Town. I haven’t caved and paid for it yet, but I’m probably going to soon.

In preparation for October 3rd, I spent a lot of my September playing the Super Smash Bros. For 3DS demo. And now, unless Little Mac shocks me, Mega Man will be my go-to fighter. And speaking of the 3DS, I played more of The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds. I’m really taking my time with that one, as I don’t want it to be over. My Animal Crossing: New Leaf run is starting to dwindle, but I expect that to pick up again in October as I want to participate in all the Halloween festivities.

I also finally finished the heartbreaking second season of Telltale’s The Walking Dead game, and again I was drained emotionally. Because of all the feels.
