Welcome to another exciting Warpback! The Warp Zoned staff found a bunch of different games under the Christmas Tree this year, so we were all over the map in December, playing everything from RPGs, to twin-stick shooters, to… well… a lot of Wii U games. Read on to see all of the crazy games we were catching up on during the holidays (and before)!

Even though I played it almost non-stop in May and June, a pristine copy of Mario Kart 8 was waiting for me under the tree. And really, now is the perfect time to jump back into the game as the Legend of Zelda DLC Pack adds a tremendous amount of awesome to the game.
Before that, I dipped back into the same trio that occupied my November. Hyrule Warriors is still the hack and slash of my Zelda dreams. Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions is quite possibly an even better game than Retro Evolved 2. Finally, I’m still plugging away at Peggle Blast, but the “enhancements” to the game that EA offers through in-app purchasing is starting to get on my nerves.

December was a pretty amazing gaming month for me. I played a ton of Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition, which is a blast! I also finally got the insane Platinum Trophy in Diablo III, which took forever. But now I can start Reaper of Souls, which I got for Christmas. Woo!
Mostly, though, my entire month was spent playing RPGs. I played Pokemon: Alpha Sapphire on my 3DS, Kingdom Hearts: Final Mix on the PS3, Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness on the PSP, and Persona 3 Portable on my Vita. No device was left untouched, except my Wii, which is actually unplugged somewhere. Whoops.
Of course, I am still chiseling away at Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, and I put some time into two other amazing games: Potatoman Seeks the Troof (from those crazy geniuses who brought the world Dino Run) and one of my long-time favorites that was recently released on the PS4, Secret Ponchos. My December was mostly eaten up by Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, which despite being handed over to 2K Australia, did not suffer the same fate as the Arkham series when it was handed to WB Games. It is still as amazingly hilarious as ever, and has left me hankering for a next-gen trip to the Pandora universe. I also tussled with Super Smash Bros. For Wii U over the festive period, but I haven’t really engaged with it as much, more of a time issue than anything else. I managed to pick up New Super Mario Bros. U for under £10 while Christmas shopping, and I’ve been playing that on the GamePad when the TV is otherwise engaged.
And Bayonetta 2. Still.

A lot of my gaming time didn’t get to start until after Christmas. Super Smash Bros. For Wii U took a good chunk of my attention this month. I played a lot against my son and his Amiibos. I got my ass handed to me online, and I explored my inner gambling addict by betting gold in Spectator Mode. All in all, a great game and a true system-seller. I finally started playing Batman: Arkham Origins, and I honestly don’t see the hate thus far. I’ve only experienced a few minor camera issues, but nothing that made the game unplayable. Other than playing a bit more Minecraft: PlayStation 4 Edition, it was a slow – but no less fun – month.
