The Games of July 2015

gamesofjuly-header

You can almost hear the tumbleweeds going by out there! There’s so little coming out in the month of July, which is for the best, as that Steam sale, and this great succession of amazing Wii U games, have really made us all broke. So let’s talk about what we think has potential coming out this July!

I haven’t played a golf game in a long time, but I remember having a blast with PGA Tour on my old 486. With EA Sports bringing back that game’s control scheme for Rory McIlroy PGA Tour, I think it’s time to step up to the tee one more time.

On the complete opposite side on the gaming spectrum, I am also very interested in Wolfenstein: The Old Blood. I know its been available on digital storefronts since May, but I have no interest in downloading a 40 GB game on my Xbox One. It needed a disc and now that it has one I’m ready to rejoin B.J. Blazkowicz on the front lines.

There’s nothing interesting for me this month! If I had an Xbox One, I’d definitely be picking up SlashDash, but alas! I don’t have one, which is a bummer. Other than that, I’m not interested in anything, and will likely just be super prepping for Gen Con and working on more board games!

I am very curious to see what Godzilla is like. I have found memories of Rampage, so I could see me picking this up, most likely from the bargain bin in a year’s time, but hey. After an early Summer spending spree on games, July is thankfully a month of slim pickings.

Yeah, this doesn’t look like a very good month. The only exception, though, is 3D Streets of Rage 2. Classic beat-em-ups are a guilty pleasure of mine, and Streets of Rage 2 ranks among the top tier of said genre. So I’ll be picking that title up, but other than that, it looks like a good opportunity to tackle the ol’ backlog.
