Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn – Part 3 is now available

It’s a fine Friday morning and that means one thing, a new episode of the Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn webseries is available for your viewing pleasure. It makes a nice companion to the David Fincher-produced/Tim Miller-directed Halo 4 live-action trailer that went live late last night.

So what’s in store for Part 3? How about the continuing adventures of Hastati Squad…

Just as Hastati Squad is confronted by a video of secret ONI super-soldiers, their war and their whole universe are changed forever by a much more deadly surprise.

The fourth part of the Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn webseries will be available next Friday, October 26.

Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul to star in Need For Speed movie

Aaron Paul is going places. As his final season as Jesse Pinkman in “Breaking Bad” is wrapping up, he’s been jumping into movies. The most recent bit of news? He’ll be starring as the lead in the new film Need for Speed.

The Dreamworks film will be inspired by the EA franchise. Due to hit theaters February 7, 2014, the studio says it will begin filming early next year. Scott Waugh will be the director, with the story written by John and George Gatin, and co-produced by John Gatin and EA’s Patrick O’Brien and Mark Sourian.

According to the Entertainment Weekly article,

While Need For Speed seeks to capitalize on the same car-culture passion that made The Fast and Furious movies such hits, the presence of an actor of Paul’s caliber suggests the racing thriller may be steering for a little more depth.

More depth? Than Fast and Furious? Impossible.

Mario Warfare brings gunplay to Mushroom Kingdom… already better than 1993 film

A trailer has hit for “Mario Warfare,” an upcoming web series from an outfit known as Beatdown Boogie. It looks like someone has thrown all of our favourite Mario characters, the bravado of Call of Duty, and the bullet choreography from The Matrix into a crazy blender. The resulting trailer looks to be being something that is quite funny, and already outshines the notoriously awful Super Mario Bros. film.

No date has been set for the debut of the first episode (“And don’t ask!” the trailer threatens), so keep a watch on Beatdown Boogie via Facebook and Twitter for more information.

Uncharted movie director out, National Treasure writers in

Sony Pictures has made two announcements regarding their long-gestating adaptation of Naughty Dog’s Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, both of which seem to indicate it will be in development for a bit longer.

The first is that Neil Burger, who had replaced David O’Russell as the film’s director last summer, has now exited the project. No explanation was given for this, but seeing that two new writers have been brought in, one imagines that those involved were not happy with the current direction.

Those two new writers are the husband and wife duo Cormac and Marianne Wibberly, best known for penning the Nicolas Cage-led National Treasure franchise. Given the similar subject matter, one can almost see the complex inner workings of the producer’s thought processes.

Losing Burger is unfortunate, as his most recent film, Limitless, showed a creative visual flair that has been developing during his career. Sony Pictures, along with Atlas Entertainment and Arad Productions, are now going to wait to until the Wibberlys deliver a new draft before shopping it around to potential new directors.
