CoD: Advanced Warfare Supremacy Pack now available for PC, PS4, PS3

callofdutyadvancedwarfare-header

Consider this your reminder that the Supremacy Pack is now available for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare on the PC, PS3, and PS4. Just like every other map pack, the Supremacy Pack will include four new maps for the game’s competitive multiplayer mode:

  • Parliament: Docked on the River Thames, this military cargo ship delivers a view of the London cityscape along with a fast-paced combat experience. Mixed site-lines provide opportunities for all styles of play to dominate this medium-sized map. Players can take control of the map-based scorestreak to unleash a barrage of missiles that annihilate enemies.
  • Kremlin: Gamers must prepare for intense combat outside Russia’s presidential palace in the new map Kremlin, as they navigate the worn-torn buildings of Red Square in this medium-sized, three-lane map. Secure elevated positions to give the team a strategic advantage, or use exoskeleton capabilities to avoid being caught in the minefield that activates mid-match.
  • Compound: Players take combat preparation to the limit in an Atlas training facility hidden away in the Colorado wilderness, as they’ll have to be quick on the trigger in this small, symmetrical map, which funnels high-speed combat through tight corners to the main tower structures.
  • Skyrise: Players deploy to an Atlas Skyscraper overlooking the Acropolis in Athens, Greece. Based on the fan-favorite, Highrise, from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 by Infinity Ward, this map brings new exoskeleton mechanics to the classic multiplayer layout. Gamers must dominate the power positions in the center of this small-to-medium sized map to control the key navigation points.

The Supremacy Pack will also include the third episode of the Exo Zombies cooperative campaign… now with an expanded role for the man with Hollywood’s most impressive chin, Bruce Campbell.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare’s final downloadable expansion, Reckoning, will likely be released in August (for Xbox players) and September (for PC/PlayStation players).

The Witcher 3 hunts down the top spot as May 2015’s best-selling game

witcher3-header

The NPD Group has published their monthly report on the financial state of the video game industry and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has emerged as the best-selling game of May 2015.

The Witcher 3’s victory was assured after the game leapfrogged both of April’s big releases including Mortal Kombat X (#2) and Grand Theft Auto V (#3). The only other May release to make the list, Nintendo’s Splatoon, swam its way into the fifth spot. Though Splatoon should get extra notice for being the only platform-exclusive title in the top ten.

All told, retail sales for games, hardware, and accessories were down 13% versus May 2014. However, Mario Kart 8, Watch Dogs, Wolfenstein: The New Order, and the continued success of TitanFall more than explain the sales gap. The drop-off might have been even bigger if it weren’t for a new wave of Amiibo figures. According to NPD’s Liam Callahan (speaking to GamesIndustry.biz), accessories rose 20% year-over-year, with a 73% increase for “interactive gaming toys.” Callahan also confirmed that the PS4 was the best-selling console of the month.

The complete top ten list of best-selling games for May 2015 can be found after the break. (more…)

Activision has announced the Supremacy Pack will be available to download on July 2 for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare players who own the game on the PC, PS3, or PS4. In case you missed the multiplayer maps that will be part of this DLC add-on, more information on all of them can be found right here:

  • Parliament: Docked on the River Thames, this military cargo ship delivers a view of the London cityscape along with a fast-paced combat experience. Mixed site-lines provide opportunities for all styles of play to dominate this medium-sized map. The Supremacy Pack will also include Exo Zombies: Carrier, the latest episode in the cooperative multiplayer portion of Advanced Warfare. A character played by Bruce Campbell will join the co-op campaign in this episode, and you can check out his groovy entrance in the previously-released Exo Zombies: Carrier trailer.

The Supremacy Pack can be purchased on its own for $14.99. It’s also available as part of the Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Season Pass, which retails for $49.99.

Get a closer look at Exo Zombies: Carrier before tomorrow’s CoD Advanced Warfare Supremacy Pack launch on Xbox Live

John Malkovich’s Oz is not long for this world in the opening moments of the latest Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare – Exo Zombies trailer. But don’t panic! Bruce Campbell is ready to take charge in the third episode, which will be available to download for the Xbox One and Xbox 360 tomorrow as part of the game’s Supremacy Pack.

Campbell plays Captain Lennox, a member of the Sentinel Task Force. He takes captures Kahn (Bill Paxton), Lilith (Rose McGowan), and Jim (Jon Bernthal) and takes them to the Atlas “Carrier” that serves as the inspiration for the episode’s title. Once there, they meet more of the Exo Zombies and suddenly it doesn’t matter if Lennox is good or bad… he’s just a guy with a gun.

PC, PS3, and PS4 owners will be able to download the Supremacy Pack, and Exo Zombies: Carrier, at a later date.

CoD: Advanced Warfare Supremacy Pack trailer includes 4 seconds of Bruce Campbell… and a first glimpse at four new multiplayer maps

Bruce Campbell, the world’s most famous zombie hunter, will have an expanded role in the third Exo Zombies episode, which Activision revealed today as part of an announcement for the next downloadable expansion for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. The nearly three-minute long trailer only includes fleeting glimpses of the groovy actor, but it was the highlight of the video for me.

Besides the mighty Bruce, the Supremacy Pack will include four new competitive multiplayer maps:

The episodic “Exo Zombies” co-op mode will continue in “Carrier,” which will star Campbell in addition to returning cast members John Malkovich, Bill Paxton, Rose McGowan, and Jon Bernthal. “Carrier,” which takes place on an Atlas aircraft carrier, will include “advanced new weaponry, enemy Atlas Strike teams, Sentinel support squads, and a host of new zombie enemies.”

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare’s Supremacy Pack will be available for the Xbox One and Xbox 360 on June 2. Thanks to Microsoft’s timed exclusivity, PC, PS4, and PS3 players will have to wait at least a month to dive in to the new maps.

Flawless Retaility! Mortal Kombat X tops April 2015’s list of best-selling games

mortalkombatx-header

Mortal Kombat X killed the competition last month as it’s been crowned the top-selling game of April 2015 by The NPD Group. Aside from NetherRealm’s latest and Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin at #8, the tracking firm’s report showed a top ten that was comprised solely of returning titles including Grand Theft Auto V at #2, Battlefield Hardline at #3, MLB 15: The Show at #4, and the well-loved Minecraft at #5.

Overall, it was a good month for the game industry as total sales rose 3% over April 2014. It’s a small gain, but it’s a gain nonetheless.

“Overall sales across hardware, new physical software, and accessories in April 2015 grew by 3% over April 2014 due to the strength of new physical software sales, which offset losses from hardware and accessories,” The NPD Group’s Liam Callahan told GamesIndustry.biz.

April 2015’s top ten best-selling titles (which also includes CoD: Advanced Warfare, NBA 2K15, the fourth Super Smash Bros. game, and a remastered Borderlands collection) can be found after the break. (more…)

Battlefield Hardline pulls off a heist to become best-selling game of March 2015

battlefieldhardline-header

Hey, have you heard of this Bloodborne game? I hear its pretty popular and that Sony’s got a bonafide hit on their hands. It even sold more than a million copies. For all the acclaim Bloodborne has received and all the copies it surely has sold, the game was topped in last month’s NPD rankings by Battlefield Hardline. Developed by Visceral Games, Battlefield Hardline is a cops-and-robbers spin on the Battlefield series and it, not Bloodborne, managed to become the best-selling game of March 2015.

That said, nearly every game of note managed to crash the top ten last month including Mario Party 10 (#4), MLB 15: The Show (#6), Borderlands: The Handsome Collection (#9), and Final Fantasy Type-0 HD (#10). Nintendo’s Code Name: STEAM was the only other March release that seemed like it might have enough juice to reach the top ten, but it was pushed out by Grand Theft Auto V (#3), Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (#5), and other returning heavy hitters.

The NPD Group (via Game Informer) used this new release drought to explain why March 2015’s game sales were down 6% from the same month a year ago. NPD’s Liam Callahan was also quick to point out that March 2014 saw the release of two very well-received games in TitanFall and InFamous: Second Son. Callahan also confirmed that the PS4 outsold the Xbox One for another month.

March 2015’s top ten best-selling titles can be found after the break. (more…)

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Ascendance Pack comes to PC, PS3, PS4 on April 30

Randall Higgins, KillCameraman, is back in a new Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare trailer that confirms the Ascendance Pack will be available for PC, PS3, and PS4 players on April 30. Like the previous DLC pack, the Ascendance Pack will include a new weapon (the OHM LMG/Shotgun), a new Exo Zombies episode (Infection), and four new multiplayer maps:

Perplex: Venture to the streets of Sydney and battle through a five-story modular apartment complex. With elevated vantages and tight corridors, Perplex is small-to-medium sized map that fits variety of play styles. Construction drones will shake things up, however, as they shift apartment modules and create new strategic pathways.

Site 244: An alien craft has crash-landed beneath Mt. Rushmore, USA, making for an awesome medium-to-large sized three-lane map littered with extraterrestrial debris. Gain a competitive edge by earning the map-based scorestreak to open an alien spore that enhances your perks and exo abilities.

Climate: Settle in to your dome away from home in Climate… a lush climate-controlled biodome. With a circular layout with a central island structure for teams to fight for control of, Climate keeps the pace of the action high. The tides can turn, however, when the rivers begin to rage and become a treacherous obstacle.

Chop Shop: Discover the seedy underbelly of the unauthorized exoekeleton trade in Chop Shop, a medium-sized industrial complex with a devastating map-based scorestreak: the Advanced Repulsion Turret.

As always, the Ascendance Pack will be available to download separately ($14.99) or as part of the Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Season Pass ($49.99).
