All Articles: Dissidia Final Fantasy NT
Some bashing and crashing is the order of the day in this week’s PlayStation Store update.
First up is Wulverblade, a side-scrolling beat ’em up from Darkwind Media and Fully Illustrated that retells the bloody history of Britannia. Also this week, Square Enix teamed up with Team Ninja to launch Dissidia Final Fantasy NT, a 3v3 arena fighter that features more than 20 characters from the long-running RPG series. Both games are now available to download for the PS4.
And on Friday, EA Sports will release EA Sports UFC 3 for the PS4. The sports sim includes a host of new animations and a new Career Mode that promises the most “authentic” MMA experience available.
You can learn more about all of this week’s additions to the PlayStation Store after the break. (more…)
Let’s get ready to rumble! Three new games will be available on retail shelves this week and they all involve a bit of rumbling.
First up is Dissidia Final Fantasy NT, a team-based brawler for the PS4 from Square Enix and Team Ninja. A spinoff/sequel to 2008’s Dissidia and 2011’s Dissidia 012, this new entry will bring together more than 20 classic Final Fantasy characters in 3v3 arena battles.
The MMA octagon is also something of an arena, and EA Sports is returning to the cage with EA Sports UFC 3, a new fighting sim for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One. In addition to a revamped graphical presentation, EA Sports UFC 3 will feature a brand new Career Mode and Ultimate Team Mode.
Finally this week, a different kind of rumbling will be at the center of Railway Empire. Players will need to take control of a fleet of trains and lay a rail network that connects the coasts on the PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
That’s it for this week’s New Retail Releases report, but we’ll be back later this week with a look at all the new additions to the PlayStation Store, Xbox Games Store, and Nintendo eShop.

Square Enix will bring Final Fantasy, Lost Sphear, Life Is Strange: Before the Storm to Comic-Con 2017
The San Diego Comic-Con kicked off today, and Square Enix brought a handful of upcoming games to the Summer’s biggest convention for fans to test out. While attendees won’t get the chance to play Kingdom Hearts III or the Final Fantasy VII Remake on the show floor, there will be plenty of demo stations in the publisher’s booth featuring these titles:
Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age (Now Available)
Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age improves upon the 2006 classic Final Fantasy XII, now more beautiful and easier to play than ever. The HD remaster introduces a reconstructed battle design and the new Zodiac Job System, a 12-job character progression system first introduced in the 2007 title, Final Fantasy XII International Zodiac Job System. With updated trophies and share functionalities, as well as stark visual and sound improvements, players both new and returning will experience the ultimate grand adventure through the world of Ivalice in an entirely new and improved way.
Dissidia Final Fantasy NT (Early 2018)
Developed in partnership with Team Ninja from Koei Tecmo, Dissidia Final Fantasy NT is the newly announced team-based brawler. The game pits legendary heroes and villains from Final Fantasy’s 30-year history against each other in epic and strategic 3 vs. 3 battles. Players will choose a team from a roster of more than 20 beloved Final Fantasy characters across ten iconic battle arenas and call forth fan-favorite summons. With a deep customization and progression system, players will gain experience points and unlock EX skills, weapons, skins, and more as they develop their favorite Final Fantasy characters, their way.
Lost Sphear (TBA 2018)
Platform: PC, PS4, Switch
Expanding on the beloved I Am Setsuna, the Lost Sphear adventure begins in a remote town where a young man, Kanata, awakens from a devastating dream to find his hometown disappearing. To stop the world from being Lost forever, Kanata and his comrades set out to rebuild the world around them with the power of Memory by manifesting thoughts into matter.
Square Enix will also invite the “key creative minds” behind Life Is Strange: Before the Storm to San Diego for a panel on Friday, July 21. The speakers will reveal “brand new information and insights about their game for the first time,” as well as lead the audience in a live playthrough of the game.
But in case you are on the lookout for new Kingdom Hearts III information, Square Enix unveiled a new trailer (and a 2018 release date) for their hotly-anticipated action RPG during Disney’s annual D23 Expo last week.
Square Enix has announced that registration is now open for a Closed Beta for Dissidia Final Fantasy NT. The Closed Beta will begin later this Summer, and developer Koei Tecmo’s test for the team-based brawler will include 3v3 battles, and some of the franchise’s most recognizable characters:
This summer, the Closed Beta will let fighting game fans get hands-on with the team-based brawler as they play the roles of legendary heroes and villains from the Final Fantasy franchise, take part in epic 3 vs. 3 battles across iconic arenas and invoke the help of classic summons including Ifrit, Shiva, and Odin.
Fans can register for a chance to join Dissidia Final Fantasy NT’s Closed Beta at Square-Enix’s official website. And a special message from developers Takeo Kujiraoka and Ichiro Hazama can be found after the break.
