I never thought I’d be excited for a sequel to a game with “Doritos” in the title, and yet, here we are. Doritos Crash Course 2 is now available to download from the Xbox Live Arcade and, just the first game, it’s a free download for all Xbox Live users.

Once again developed by Behaviour Interactive, the second Crash Course promises a bigger game and the ability to unlock all of the courses and bonus items by spending a few Microsoft Points on in-game Coins. Yes, Doritos Crash Course 2 is one of those “free-to-play” games. But you only have to pay if you don’t want to play. And who doesn’t want to play Doritos Crash Course 2?

Doritos Crash Course 2 is the sequel to the XBLA smash hit Doritos Crash Course. Run, jump, slide and wall jump your Avatar through 4 new worlds of irreverent obstacles, traps and pitfalls. In this 2.5 platformer, compete for medals and find stars to progress. Use your stars to unlock new courses, power-ups and vanity items. Compare your best time against up to 3 asynchronous game clips of your friends.

Microsoft’s Major Nelson has confirmed (via Twitter) that Doritos Crash Course 2 will be available as a free download on the Xbox Live Arcade this Wednesday, May 8. The game was developed by Behaviour Interactive, the team that also handled the original.

Doritos Crash Course 2 is inspired by the insane obstacle courses featured in television shows like Wipeout and American Gladiators… all starring your Xbox Avatar. Watch your Avatar get smashed, bashed, and crashed and battle the best times of up to three friends (thanks to an asynchronous ghost mode).

Doritos Crash Course was an advergame that mixed a Wipeout-like obstacle course with constant advertising for Doritos brand chips (I mean, it’s right there in the title). Yet, it was also beloved by the Xbox Live community and is one of the most popular Xbox Live Arcade games of all time.

So the announcement of a sequel, Doritos Crash Course 2, is enough to make me celebrate with a Doritos Locos Taco from Taco Bell and some Cool Ranch Doritos for dessert! On second thought, I think I’ll just stick with the game as its actually fun and WON’T cause horrible intestinal pain.

According to Microsoft, Doritos Crash Course 2 is “coming soon” and will appear on the XBLA as a free-to-play title. Players (and their Avatars) will be able to run and jump through four new locations and challenge their friends’ best times with downloadable ghosts.

If you’d prefer to skip the whole free-to-play thing, Doritos Crash Course 2 players will be able to buy “coins” that they can use to unlock new courses, power-ups and vanity items.
