Two new Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 trailers ask… “Are you a Hunter or a Runner?” and “Can you beat the Giant Ghost?”

Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 will gobble up your freetime in a just a few days, but in the meantime, Bandai Namco released two new trailers for the game to get players ready for the return of video gaming’s first star.

First, the publisher asked players how they prefer to play in the “Hunter Vs Runner” trailer. If you’re someone who chases Ghosts for maximum points, that makes you a “Hunter.” But you’re a “Runner” if you like to smoothly munch on Dots while studiously avoiding the Ghosts.

All this hunting and running leads into the game’s brand new boss battles, and Bandai Namco also released a second trailer asking players how they’d defeat “The Giant Ghost.” If you said, “With an army of Pac-Men,” then you’re on the right track.

Both trailers can be found after the break, and don’t forget, Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 will be released for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One on September 13. (more…)

Bandai Namco has announced that Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 will be available to download for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One on September 13. It’ll be priced at $12.99 on all platforms and include new features and modes such as “Score Attack Mode, Adventure Mode, big boss battles, and the fastest action in any Pac-Man game to date.”

Believe it or not, it’s been more than five years since the last game in the neon-coated spinoff series was released… Pac-Man Championship Edition DX made its debut on the PS3 and Xbox 360 in November 2010. But if you want a look at Pac-Man Championship Edition 2, you can find a new batch of screenshots after the break. (more…)

Bandai Namco officially announces Pac-Man Championship Edition 2

Lace up those sneakers and get ready to compete for the Championship Edition once more, because Bandai Namco has announced that Pac-Man’s hypersonic spinoff series will receive a new entry this September.

Players will be able to use portals to zip around the mazes even faster in Pac-Man Championship Edition 2, and the massive Giant Ghost will add boss fights to the series for the first time. Even more new features are visible in the trailer embedded above, and in this short blurb direct from Bandai Namco:

Currently under development at Bandai Namco Studios Inc. in Tokyo, Japan; Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 features new eye-popping 3D mazes with unique visuals, a wide variety of dynamic mazes, the new ability to bump ghosts, and the addition of intense giant sized ghost boss battles. Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 will also build upon Pac-Man Championship Edition DX’s “Chain Eating” mechanics by enabling fans to build up to four ghost trains before chowing down for maximum chompage points. Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 returns with the fan favorite Score Attack mode where players need to gather as many points within a specified time and a new Adventure mode that will have players chasing fast moving fruit, battling big bad bosses, and experiencing fun new ways of playing Pac-Man.

Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 is in development for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One, and it’ll be available sometime this September. In the meantime, fans can visit the Bandai Namco booth (#129 in Hall A) at this weekend’s Comic-Con for their first chance to play the game before it launches.

Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 approved by Korean Game Rating Committee

The South Korea Game Rating and Administration Committee (GRAC) has approved a rating of “Everyone” for Pac-Man Championship Edition 2, the heretofore unannounced third entry in the series.

Designed by Toru Iwatani, and released for the Xbox 360 in 2007, the first game in the Pac-Man Championship Edition series rejuvenated the iconic character by adding a neon-infused visual style and a rocket-propelled increase in speed. It was followed by Pac-Man Championship Edition DX, a sequel with additional mazes and game modes, in 2010.

If the GRAC listing is legitimate, Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 is in development for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One at Bandai Namco. Unfortunately, there’s no release date information as of yet, but fans were warned they’ll need to “avoid the ghosts in the maze” to find success in the third game in the series. So we know it won’t stray too far from Pac-Man’s familiar formula.
