All Articles: Trials Evolution
Trials HD has consistently been a part of Major Nelson’s weekly XBLA top 20 for years now. So demand for the sequel, Trials Evolution, was (if you’ll excuse the pun) riding high. Just how high? The motorcycle racer from RedLynx has set a new one-day Xbox Live Arcade sales record.
Specific sales numbers weren’t released, but according to Microsoft, Trials Evolution set a record for highest-grossing one-day sales. And believe it or not, but the game’s Leaderboards actually crashed after more than 100,000 players added their best times on Wednesday. Wow.
Congratulation to the team at RedLynx, they’ve earned it.
Microsoft has kicked off their Arcade Next promotion with today’s release of Trials Evolution, a followup to the popular motorcycle racer Trials HD. Naturally, the sequel is full of even more motorcycling action:
It’s survival of the fastest with Trials Evolution! Your favorite physics-based motorcycle racer is back in a brilliant new outdoor setting. Ride in real-time multiplayer with 2-4 players, either locally or through Xbox Live. Enjoy a deep, rich single player career with 50 brilliant tracks, challenging unlocks, and tricky achievements. A massive, powerful track editor lets you build the track of your dreams and easily share it with the world. Or simply download top-rated tracks from around the world, using the all-new Track Central. Customize your bike and rider with awesome gear and unique parts, enjoy unique skill games, try ghost racing, beat your Friends’ scores, and more! Don’t miss the madness!
Trials Evolution is available to download for 1200 Microsoft Points ($15).
It was revealed at E3 almost a year ago, but we can all rest easy, the Xbox Live Arcade version of Minecraft finally has a release date. Mojang’s blocky adventure game will headline Microsoft’s recently announced “Arcade Next” promotion, which will also feature Trials Evolution, Bloodforge, and Fable Heroes.
Trials Evolution will lead off the “Arcade Next” promotion on April 18, with a new game to follow every week until Minecraft’s debut on May 9. This quartet of games will also be among the first to enter the XBLA with 400 Gamerscore Points.
Everybody knows what Minecraft is all about, but what about the other three? Hit the jump for more information on all of the “Arcade Next” titles or check out the trailer above. (more…)
Trials HD was a surprise hit on the Xbox Live Arcade and the motorcycle racer is still popular on the Top XBLA charts to this day. Developer RedLynx has used this year’s E3 Expo to announce the sequel, Trials Evolution, is in development for a 2011 release.
Trials Evolution is being kept tightly under wraps for now (the teaser trailer above is practically the definition of “tease”), but the sequel will include “local and online multiplayer, true outdoor environments, and a host of additional improvements [over Trials HD].”
“Trials Evolution is more than just a sequel to Trials HD,” said Antti Ilvessuo, Creative Director of RedLynx. “We listened carefully to all the feedback we received from the previous game and added it to our own vision of what the ultimate Trials game could be, coming up with a gamer’s wish list of must-play features.”
