All Articles: WWE 2K14
I always find it incredibly difficult to write a review for a yearly sports franchise. To innovate and change something that has a real-life counterpart is incredibly hard because, well, the sport just doesn’t change in time for every autumn. Not only do I feel like I’m repeating myself, but it also must be really hard for the developers. Anyway, stop me if you’ve heard this one before… WWE 2K14 is a fantastic pro-wrestling title, probably the best in the Yuke’s-produced series. However, it is held back with bad AI and physics, as well as rough commentary. Yet, it does have the best story mode in a WWE game to date. (more…)
Once again, Grand Theft Auto V reigns supreme. The latest entry in Rockstar’s blockbuster franchise remains atop the NPD Group’s monthly tabulations of the best-selling games at retail.
It’s important to note that GTA5 didn’t pull off this repeat performance against a group of lightweights. The remaining spots in the top ten, all nine of them, were claimed by new releases. You can check out the rest of the top ten right here and, if you gambled that Pokemon X would sell more copies than Pokemon Y, it’s time to collect:
Bestselling Games in October 2013
1. Grand Theft Auto V (Xbox 360, PS3)
2. Pokemon X (3DS)
3. Pokemon Y (3DS)
4. Battlefield 4 (Xbox 360, PS3, PC)
5. Batman: Arkham Origins (Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U, PC)
6. Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag (Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U)
7. NBA 2K14 (Xbox 360, PS3, PC)
8. Skylanders Swap Force (Wii, Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U, 3DS)
9. Lego Marvel Super Heroes (Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U, 3DS, Vita, PC)
10. WWE 2K14 (Xbox 360, PS3)
According to Joystiq, GTA5 wasn’t the only big winner last month. The entire industry had a very profitable four weeks as last month’s software sales were higher than the same period from 2012, making October 2013 the third month in a row to see year-over-year sales gains.
The Xbox Live Game Store expands again with the addition of three new Games on Demand and one new Xbox Live Arcade title today.
The three new Games on Demand include the Star Wars-themed airborne avian attack of Angry Birds Star Wars; The first 2K-published wrestling game, WWE 2K14; and Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures, the latest starring role for one of gaming’s earliest characters.
Over on the Xbox Live Arcade is Final Exam, a 2.5D side-scrolling beat ’em up that takes place in the Obscure universe.
More details on all of these games can be found after the break. (more…)
It’s another big week for the PlayStation Store as five PS3 games (and one Vita title) made their digital download debut simultaneously with their retail release.

More details on all of these titles, as well as a few others (including Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate HD), can be found after the break. And, as always, a full rundown of this week’s new game add-ons can be found at the PlayStation Blog. (more…)

Whatcha gonna do when WrestleMania runs wild on you? That’s the question 2K Sports is asking today as they’ve announced the new 30 Years of WrestleMania Mode for WWE 2K14. The 30 Years of WrestleMania Mode is a “nostalgic journey [that] takes players through more than 45 [WrestleMania] matches” including Hulk Hogan vs. Andre the Giant (WrestleMania III), The Rock vs. “Hollywood” Hulk Hogan (WrestleMania X8), and The Rock vs. John Cena (WrestleMania XXVIII).
“For nearly three decades, WWE has inspired millions worldwide through the historic, cultural and undeniable phenomenon that is WrestleMania,” said Chris Snyder, Senior Director of Marketing at 2K. “Through the 30 Years of WrestleMania Mode in WWE 2K14, players can now relive their favorite nostalgic and recent WrestleMania moments – from an incredible roster to authentic presentation and match play – in a unique and engaging way.”
The 30 Years of WrestleMania Mode will attempt to recreate each of these classic matches with authentic presentation elements including period-specific ring designs, wrestler entrances and ring attires, and on-screen graphics.
The complete roster of wrestlers that will be included in the 30 Years of WrestleMania Mode will be livestreamed on 2K’s Twitch.TV channel this Saturday, August 17, at 12:30 PM (Pacific Time).
Children of the 80s had their own “The Beatles or The Rolling Stones?” conundrum when it came to pledging allegiance to their favorite WWF superstar. While “The Macho Man” Randy Savage had his supporters, the question nearly always came down to Hulk Hogan versus The Ultimate Warrior.
Since his late 80s heyday (and victory over Hogan in Wrestlemania VI), the Ultimate Warrior has had a frosty relationship with the WWE. Aside from an appearance in last year’s WWE All-Stars, he’s never had much of a presence in WWE video games either. That all changes this October when the wrestler will be added to the WWE 2K14 roster exclusively as a pre-order bonus.
“Immortality is inspiration, pure and simple. An example to others that they, too, can do things larger than the life they are actually living, and Ultimate Warrior was the pure embodiment of this belief, in what has proven to be a very attention-getting and inspiring way,” said Warrior. “It was my good fortune to be his creator and performer, and I am humbled by all those fans who’ve not only kept his legacy alive, but deepened it over time. In WWE 2K14, Ultimate Warrior’s creed, ‘Always Believe,’ lives on.”
Well said, Warrior, well said. The 2K Sports-published WWE 2K14 will be released for the PS3 and Xbox 360 on October 29.
