Zone of the Enders HD lands in October bundled with Metal Gear Rising demo

As Shirley Bassey once sang, “It’s all just a little bit of history repeating.” Just as the original Zone of the Enders was released on the PlayStation 2 with a demo of Metal Gear Solid 2, Konami’s upcoming Zone of the Enders HD Collection will parallel its predecessor by bringing with it a demo of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance when it splashes onto the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on October 30th in North America and Canada. Konami has yet to announce a European release date, although several UK retailers have it listed with a January, 18 2013 release date.

The demo will be available on its own post-release, although no specifics were given as to when this might be. Given that Raiden will not be debuting until February though, if you wish to play the demo this side of Christmas, it is probably a fair bet that the Zone of the Enders HD Collection will be the only way to do so.

Development officially begins on Zone of the Enders 3

Kojima Productions hit us with a double whammy of gaming news today. The first was the announcement that the Zone of the Enders HD Collection will be released in Japan on October 25 (three days after my birthday, but if anyone wishes to buy, I will accept a late present!).

However, the biggest news was that Hideo Kojima himself revealed that a third Enders title, currently known as the Enders Project, is in the very early stages of development. At the HD Night talk held in Shinjuku Wald 9 Cinema, Kojima showed off drawings and models that the staff have been building in order to experiment converting to CG for use with their internally developed Fox Engine, under the watchful eyes of producer Ryosuki Toriyama. It is unclear as to what range of success the experiments have yielded, if the Fox Engine will be used at all for the new instalment, or what platforms Enders Project will be developed for.

But it’s good to know that work has finally (and officially) begun on Zone of the Enders 3.

Final Fantasy X HD, MGS HD, ZOE HD coming to PS3, Vita

Square Enix still refuses to announce an HD remake of Final Fantasy VII. However, remake fever seems to be contagious at the Tokyo Game Show and you better believe that Squenix is a carrier.

During Sony’s TGS press conference, the publisher announced that an HD remake of Final Fantasy X is in development for the PS3 and Vita. But don’t expect it anytime soon as Square Enix couldn’t say anything else about the project.

Hideo Kojima is no stranger to remakes either and Konami kingpin used the same stage to announce that both the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection and the Zone of the Enders HD Collection will be released for the Vita in 2012. Both compilations will include cross-compatibility between the PS3 and Vita versions, meaning you can take your game save from home on the road and vice versa.

Japan’s got a fever, and the only prescription is more remakes!

Metal Gear, Zone of the Enders remakes also coming to PSN, XBLA

Konami got E3 off to a rollicking start last week during their first ever Pre-E3 Show. During the event, famed director Hideo Kojima announced his next two projects: Metal Gear Solid HD Collection and Zone of the Enders HD Collection. Both games will be coming to the PS3 and Xbox 360, but as the E3 Expo opens, Kojima Productions has another surprise in store for gamers on their E3 Special Site.

In addition to the retail releases, each remake package will be available to download from the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade as well. It’s unknown if the download versions will appear at the same time as the retail versions, but I’m sure Konami will announce more details about the compilations soon.

The Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, which contains Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Libery, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, will be released in November. Bluepoint Games, the same team responsible for the God of War Collection and the Team Ico Collection, will be handling the development.

Zone of the Enders HD Collection, which contains Zone of the Enders and Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner, will be released sometime in 2012.
