Max Payne 3 slow-mo dives towards a March 2012 release

After several delays, Rockstar Games has finally announced a date for the return of everyone’s favorite bullet-time dodging, inner monologue-abusing hero. Max Payne 3 is officially due out in March 2012 in North America and Europe for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. How serious are they this time? Check out the game’s boxart on your left.

The game is set after the events of Max Payne 2, following Max as he tries to start a new life in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The story will follow Payne as he provides private security for a wealthy industrialist in this new locale. Eventually, he faces off with the local gangs when they target his client’s family.

Max Payne 3 aims to change what we know and love about the Max Payne series by giving us new physics, a new game engine, realistic weaponry, a cover system, and even better bullet-time mechanics. Rockstar will also include a multiplayer mode for the first time in the series history. I’m curious to see if bullet-time actions will be present in the multiplayer and how many pills will be a-poppin’ for health regeneration.

Do you still not believe? Then hit the jump for two new screenshots as well. (more…)

Real Steel game is rock ’em, sock ’em real

Osaka-based video game developer Yuke’s is best known for the annual release of their WWE Wrestling games and the recent UFC Undisputed titles. They’re also currently working on a game based on the upcoming Hugh Jackman movie, Real Steel. Having made a number of games with human meatbag fighters, a robot brawlfest should be a nice change.

Real Steel is set to be released as a downloadable title in early October for 1200 Microsoft Points on the Xbox Live Arcade and $15 on the PlayStation Network. So be prepared to rock and sock some robots. Forgive me for the terrible joke, robo-enthusiasts.

So what are you waiting for? There are an innumerable amount of hats out there just dying to be traded!

Three Persona titles on the horizon including P4 Vita, Persona 5 and a fighter

Atlus is set to shower us with more Persona love and will be porting Persona 4 to the PlayStation Vita as “Persona 4: The Golden“. This remake will contain a host of new features including a new character, a new opening sequence with new music from Shouji Meguro, and more voice work than the original PS2 version.

Atlus has also announced that it will release a 2D fighting game called Persona 4: The Ultimate in Mayonaka Arena. And though its title says “Persona 4”, it will also feature characters from Persona 3. This student/persona brawl will be the product of a partnership between Atlus and Arc System Works, the makers of fighting games such as the BlazBlue and Guilty Gear series. Persona 4: The Ultimate in Mayonaka Arena is scheduled for a Summer 2012 release (in Japan) on the PS3 and Xbox 360.

Persona 5 has also been teased and some details, such as the game’s staff, have been revealed. The regular team, including Director Katsura Hashino and composer Shouji Meguro,is returning, but no other details (including which systems it’ll land on) have been mentioned. I’m personally hoping that it’ll come to PS3 and expand on the magic I felt from stumbling around drunkenly in a bar.

Torchlight II is priced and the Embermage is primed

Got a spare $19.99 USD and a love for Torchlight? You’re in luck, because Runic Games has announced that Torchlight II will retail for exactly that much! The announcement was made at the beginning of the Penny Arcade Expo 2011 and was followed by the announcement of a fourth playable class. The Embermage, a class that focuses on magic, will be available alongside the Engineer, Outlander, and Berserker. The different tools each class can utilize should provide hours of varied dungeon-crawling fun. Also at a $19.99 price point, the original Torchlight proved to be a lot of bang for an affordable amount of buck. Here’s to hoping that the sequel, set for release on the PC in 2011, will be just as beefy.

He claims that it is a “very romantic game” and that “nothing is more romantic than blowing your significant other up with a maniacal, demonic ice cream truck.”

Jaffe also announced that they will release a trailer later this week that features the character Dollface and some new gameplay. There is even a teaser for the trailer at the end of the announcement video. Yes, a teaser for a trailer.
