Mortal Kombat “Klassic Costumes” trailer is Toasty!
As if the Mortal Kombat reboot didn’t already feel like it came straight from 1993 comes this trailer highlighting the “Klassic Costumes” DLC pack. See Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Reptile and Ermac in their matching ninja outfits. See Kitana and Mileena get klassy with more fabric than they’ve worn in years. Jade doesn’t just get a klassic costume, but she changes her race as well (the character was originally white in Mortal Kombat II).
Other than “Koming Soon,” NetherRealm Studios is still not talking about a release date or pricing details for the DLC pack.
UPDATE: NetherRealm has revealed that the pack will be released on Tuesday, June 7 for $4.99 (400 Microsoft Points). Let’s hope the PlayStation Store is back up by then.

House of the Dead: Overkill gets extended on PS3
Holy ****! Agent G and Detective Isaac Washington bring their grindhouse antics to the PS3 for the first time in The House of the Dead: Overkill – Extended Cut. And just for ***** and giggles, the pair plans to add Move support, two exclusive levels, high definition graphics and eye-popping 3D gameplay.
Thankfully, all of the ****ing naughty language (which there was a lot of) and bullets (which there was more of) return as well.
“The House of the Dead: Overkill – Extended Cut on PlayStation 3 will send players to the shrieking mad heart of mutant mayhem. This time we went further, faster and bloodier than before. We extended everything, even the title,” said Gary Knight of Sega.
The House of the Dead: Overkill – Extended Cut will be released on October 25, just in time for Halloween. But Sega won’t make us wait that long to learn more as the game will be shown at E3. You can also get an eyeful of the first four screenshots after the break. (more…)

Turtle Rock developing multiplayer FPS for THQ
As Left 4 Dead‘s development was coming to an end, Valve wisely acquired the team behind the zombie shooter, Turtle Rock Studios. After the game shipped, Turtle Rock seemed to slink away and their name was no where to be found on Left 4 Dead 2.
During Turtle Rock’s hiatus, the studio ecaped from Valve and reformed as an independent entity in 2010. Now, THQ has announced an alliance with the muliplayer shooter specialists to produce a new, unnamed multiplayer first person shooter for release in 2013.
“We’re thrilled to be working with THQ,” said Phil Robb, COO, Turtle Rock Studios. “This project is the most ambitious thing we’ve ever attempted, and we’re inspired by the support THQ has shown to help us realize that vision. We’re going to take the first person shooter experience to a whole new level, and we can’t wait to show the game for the first time in the months ahead.”
“Our quest to sign the best artists and work with the best talent continues,” said Danny Bilson, EVP Core Games, THQ. “Turtle Rock Studios is responsible for one of the most original, critically acclaimed co-operative games of this generation, and we are incredibly excited to be working with them on their next project, which looks set to make a similar impact in the multiplayer space.”
The Turtle Rock/THQ project will not be shown at E3, but a full reveal is planned for a later date.
Sony confirms PS4 is in development
During Sony’s quarterly financial briefing yesterday, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Masaru Kato revealed that development on the PlayStation 4 has begun. Sony is the final platform maker to enter the next next generation ring as Microsoft revealed plans for the Xbox 720 back in March while Nintendo will officially unveil the Wii 2 at this year’s E3 Expo.
The PS4 announcement came about due to a question relating to Sony’s increased research and development costs. Kato’s reply was little more than a variation on “we’re always looking to the future,” but it was confirmation of the PS4 nonetheless:
“For the home equipment the PS3 still has a product life,” Kato said, “but this is a platform business, so for the future platform – when we’ll be introducing what product I cannot discuss that – but our development work is already under way, so the costs are incurred there.”
Obviously, it’s much early to wonder when we’ll see the PS4 or to speculate on what kind of tech it’ll contain. But it’s nice to know the development process has begun.

What is Zelda Universe? Mystery game outed by ESRB

It looks like The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D and The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword aren’t the only Zelda games in development at Nintendo.
The ESRB recently rated something called Zelda Universe, an “Online” game from Nintendo. The game received an “E For Everyone” rating due to “Violence.”
So what is this mystery game? The first Nintendo-published Facebook application? Some kind of Flash game? A secret 3DS and/or Wii project? Something else entirely? Whatever it is, it should be noted that the franchise’s official Internet presence is also known as Zelda Universe, so it probably just refers to that.

Disney Universe suit ups this Fall
The Disney/Square Enix partnership has produced six Kingdom Hearts games with a seventh in development. The House of Mouse must have taken that franchise’s mashup mentality to heart as they’ve announced Disney Universe will be available on the PC, PS3, Wii and Xbox 360 this Fall.
Disney Universe will mix together characters from Disney’s animated and live-action films in a “fast-paced” and “frenetic” adventure. Players will be able to “suit up” as more than 40 Disney characters including Alice (Alice in Wonderland), Mike (Monsters, Inc.), Tron (Tron: Legacy) and Stitch (Lilo & Stitch). Once in costume, players will gain powers and tools related to their character of choice as they explore six worlds based on legendary Disney and Pixar films. And like any good family game, Disney Universe will also include a multiplayer mode for up to four players.
Disney Interactive plans to expand Disney Universe on the PS3 and Xbox 360 post-launch through an expanding universe of downloadloadable content and items including additional worlds, costumes and more available for purchase.
