Deus Ex: Human Revolution coming August 23
Deus Ex: Human Revolution, the latest entry in the critically acclaimed series, has finally been given a release date by publisher Square Enix. North American gamers will be able to pick up the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 title on August 23 while UK gamers will have to wait until August 26.
The news comes courtesy of developer Eidos Montreal’s Twitter feed. Ironically, if the game had met it’s original release date, it would have arrived on store shelves today, March 8.

Nathan Drake battles Katherine Marlowe in Uncharted 3
Naughty Dog and Sony put on a very popular press event at the Game Developers Conference last week. The subject: Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception.
Besides showing off the game’s stereoscopic 3D mode, they also introduced the world to Katherine Marlowe, the thorn in Nathan Drake’s side and the villain of Uncharted 3. Check out the trailer above for more on Marlowe or hit the jump to learn a little more about her backstory. (more…)

Fallen Frontier blazes a trail to PAX East
Moonshot Games was founded by three former members of Bungie back in 2009 and since then they’ve been hard at work on Fallen Frontier. Now, they’re ready to show off their side-scrolling shooter with a new trailer and a playable demo at this weekend’s PAX East event.
Using cartoonish characters against realistic backgrounds, Fallen Frontier looks a little like a cross between Contra and Bionic Commando. Not only does it resemble the classics of yesteryear, but the game checks all the boxes with two-player co-op and a wide variety of weapons.
Moonshot calls Fallen Frontier “an engaging film noir style mystery” about a jaded lawman travelling across the stars to seek vengeance. While it doesn’t have a release date or even confirmation of what platforms it’ll land on (though Xbox 360 button prompts are seen in the trailer), I’m very excited.

Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, Kid Icarus playable at PAX East

The launch of the 3DS is less than three weeks away and Nintendo plans to woo the public with some big playable demos at this weekend’s PAX East event. The console maker plans to showcase playable demo stations for six launch day titles:
- Dead or Alive Dimensions
- Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars
- Nintendogs + Cats
- Pilotwings Resort
- Steel Diver
- Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition
That lineup is great and all, but Nintendo is also pulling out the big guns with playable versions of Kid Icarus: Uprising, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D and Capcom’s Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D.
If you’re in the Boston area, I’d suggest getting in line now.
Presidents of the United States of America catch ’em all
They sat in a boggy marsh with lump, they crushed a peach in their fist and they performed a duet with Sir Mix-A-Lot. But do you believe that The Presidents of the United States of America can also catch ’em all?
The 90s alt-rock gods (in my mind at least) performed their Pokemon tribute song “Can’t Stop (Catchin’ ‘Em All)” at the Pokemon Black and White launch party this weekend in New York City. If you couldn’t make it down to the Nintendo World Store, don’t worry, we’ve got the song right here:
This is definitely one group of Presidents that I’d never want to impeach.

Microsoft begins work on next Xbox
That’s right, “begins work,” which likely means the next Xbox is not going to be released anytime soon.
Microsoft has posted multiple job openings on LinkedIn to fill several positions in their Xbox division. These jobs have titles like Hardware Verification Engineer and VLSI Graphics Architect, which may not mean much to someone who’s not a hardware developer, but the job listings include a few tell-tale signs that Microsoft has started working on the Xbox 720 (emphasis added):
Come join a dynamic engineering team and play a key role in the development and verification of the Xbox and future platforms.
[The Xbox Console Architecture team] is responsible for defining and delivering next generation console architectures from conception through implementation.
While it’s possible Microsoft has been working on the third Xbox in secret all this time, it’s not very likely. So don’t expect a big, splashy reveal at this year’s E3 and I wouldn’t hold my breath for one in 2012 either.
PSN Gamers Choice winners announced
The votes have been tallied and the winners of the first annual PlayStation Network Gamers’ Choice Awards have been announced:
Even though it appeared on the PSN a year after its Xbox Live Arcade debut, Castle Crashers took the award for Best PS3 Downloadable Game.
A lot of games let you kill zombies, but Dead Nation is the only zombie game awesome enough to be honored as the Best PlayStation Network Exclusive Game.
And speaking of zombies, Age of Zombies was chosen as the Best PSP Mini.
Finally, Kratos and God of War: Ghost of Sparta stand tall as the Best PSP Downloadable Game.
The PSN Gamers’ Choice Awards are more than just a chance to let gamers vote on their favorite PS3/PSP games of 2010. Sony plans to discount all four of these titles for a week beginning tomorrow. As part of the PSN’s Spring Fever event, each game will be 50% for PlayStation Plus subscribers and 30% off for all other users.
We’ll have more on the rest of the Spring Fever discounts tomorrow.

Hackers beware! CoD: Modern Warfare 2 getting patched
Hackers beware, your days of hacking Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 to shreds on the PS3 are numbered. Robert Bowling, Infinity Ward’s Community Manager, has revealed on the company’s official forum that a “title update [that] will address security issues that have affected online play” will be made available to PS3 players worldwide on March 8. PC and Xbox 360 owners will also receive the patch, however a release date has not determined.
Keeping out the hackers isn’t the only purpose of this patch, according to Bowling it’ll also “address a small geo exploit on the map Fuel, which players exploited in order to get inside a rock on the outskirts of the map.”
