Mega Man Legacy Collection and Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 will be released for Switch in Spring 2018

Capcom had one more announcement to make as part of their “Mega Man 30th Anniversary Celebration” livestream, and it’s one that should make Switch owners very happy. After skipping Nintendo’s Wii U the first time around, the publisher confirmed that Mega Man Legacy Collection and Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 will be released for the Switch in Spring 2018.

Additionally, Capcom said that both games will offer Amiibo support, and the first Mega Man Legacy Collection will receive a new Rewind option “to go back in time following blunders.” The Rewind feature will also be added to the game on the PC, PS4, and Xbox One as a free update.

Mega Man X Collection coming to PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Switch in 2018

Capcom is hosting a special “Mega Man 30th Anniversary Celebration” on their Twitch channel today, and the publisher kicked things off in fine fashion with the announcement of a Mega Man X Collection.

The collection will include all eight games from the Mega Man X franchise (yes, even the much-hated Mega Man X7), and it’ll be released for the PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch in Summer 2018.

UPDATE: In a press release, Capcom said that multiple Mega Man X games will be released in 2018. This could be a typo, or it could also mean that Capcom is planning to release the eight games in the franchise across several compilations or as individual downloads.

Staff of Polygon name their “500 Best Games of All Time”

Polygon recently celebrated its fifth birthday with a weeklong countdown of their choices for the “500 Best Games of All Time.”

Along with a high-profile roster of special guests (including Jeremy Parish, Susan Arendt, Jon-Paul Dyson, and Benj Edwards), the site’s staff put together this massive ranking of games that includes titles from nearly every platform and stretching back to the very beginning of the medium. They even set some ground rules:

We asked everyone to vote based on innovation, polish and durability, rather than simply personal taste. We cut games released in 2017 to eliminate recency bias. And we left out sequels that we deemed too similar to the games that came before them.

Collecting all those votes together, we then combed through the data for anomalies and came up with the final order you see here.

Polygon’s final tally looks very similar to our own “Scientifically Proven Best Video Games of All Time,” and that includes their selection of Tetris as the #1 game of all time.
