Xbox Store Today: Titanfall 2, Skyrim Special Edition, ClusterTruck, more

“Big” is the key word for today’s Xbox Games Store update…

Let’s start with Titanfall 2, a game with massive walking mechs that players can jump in and out of as they wage war on the opposing team. I think that certainly qualifies as “big.” Developed by Respawn and now available to download for the Xbox One, Titanfall 2 is even bigger than the original game thanks to the addition of a single-player campaign and lots of new multiplayer options.

“Big” can also be used the describe the gigantic game world and towering dragons that players will encounter in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Special Edition. Rebuilt for the Xbox One with “remastered art and effects,” Skyrim Special Edition will also include mod support on consoles for the first time.

Finally, ClusterTruck is also available to download today for the Xbox One, and it asks players to catch “big” air as they jump from truck to truck on the world’s most insane highway.

More details about all of these games can be found after the break. (more…)

Frank West gets in the Halloween spirit in the latest Dead Rising 4 trailer

Frank West has never said no to a good costume. The gaming world’s favorite photojournalist is also a bit of a tinkerer and he loves turning useless junk into badass weapons. Thankfully, neither of those things are going to change in Dead Rising 4.

Capcom released a new trailer for the latest entry in their other zombies series today, and Frank West is delivering glad tidings and having a jolly old time. In just 90 seconds, he hosts an impromptu fashion show, and then heads back to his workshop to fill his Christmas slay with a few new toys for all the good ghouls and boys.

Dead Rising 4 will be released for the PC and Xbox One on December 6 as an Xbox Play Anywhere title.

SteinsGate 0 will be released for PS4, Vita on November 29

steinsgate0-header

PQube has announced that SteinsGate 0, the prequel to one of the most popular “visual novels” of all time, will be released for the PS4 and PS Vita on November 29. If you’re interested in the behind-the-scenes work that goes into translating a game of this size, SteinsGate 0’s Localisation Lead, Adam Lensenmayer, shared some thoughts about the localization process at the PlayStation Blog:

Over the last year I feel like I’ve really gotten to know the cast, like they’re a part of me. Localizing SteinsGate 0 was a really big job — a 5 month project from the time we got the script to the turn-in date. We worked at it several hours a day, five days a week. The project came to us in the form of several massive spreadsheets, and we started at the beginning and worked our way to the end.

Lensenmayer also promised that SteinsGate 0 will answer “the biggest, most long-running mystery in the series,” and a new trailer for the game can be found after the break. (more…)

Rumor: Nintendo Switch will feature a multi-touch touchscreen

nintendoswitch-header

Earlier this week, Nintendo announced plans to host a big “Nintendo Switch Presentation 2017” on January 12. So that means we’ve still got a few months to wildly speculate on what additional bells and whistles the consolemaker is hiding.

The biggest mystery of all might be the Switch’s screen… Is it a touchscreen? Will it work as a standalone tablet? Just how big is it? Thankfully, a new report from Eurogamer might have shed some light on several of these questions.

Citing many of the same anonymous sources that confirmed the Switch was a console/handheld hybrid long before Nintendo did, the Eurogamer report said that the Switch will display images in 720p resolution and measure 6.2″ in size (slightly larger than the iPhone 7 Plus). Best of all, the screen will feature a capacitive multi-touch touchscreen, opening up the possibility that the Switch could also work as a standalone tablet.

Nintendo declined Eurogamer’s request to comment on this report, so feel free to make your own wild leaps of logic in the comments below.

Doom gets doomier… Hell Followed multiplayer expansion and Free Update 4 are now available to download

Id Software is bringing some hell-raising new content to Doom this weekend with the launch of Hell Followed, the game’s second multiplayer expansion. Priced at $14.99, and available to download now, Hell Followed adds three new multiplayer maps to the game, as well as a new Demon Rune (the Cacodemon), a new weapon (the demonic Reaper), new equipment (the Threat Pulse), and a variety of additional Armor Sets, Patterns, Colors, and Taunts.

Doom: Hell Followed – New Multiplayer Maps

  • Argent Breach – Battle among ancient burial ruins of the Night Sentinels, where statues of heroes past overlook the machinery of a fallen society.
  • Molten – Clash in a world littered with volcanic temples and fight inside a crumbling facility dedicated to harnessing energy from the lava that envelopes the entire planet.
  • Orbital – Fight in low gravity aboard a robotic station in deep space. Surprise opponents from above, but be careful not to fall into the vastness of space below.

Doom fans will be able to put this new content through its paces this weekend with a Double XP Weekend that begins tomorrow at 12:00 PM (Eastern Time) and ends just in time for trick or treating at 12:00 PM (Eastern Time) on October 31.

And in case you missed it, the developers also recently released Doom’s “Free Update 4,” which includes the score-based Arcade Mode, as well as two new multiplayer modes (“Bloodrush” and “Possession”) and Classic Doom Modules for the SnapMap creation tool. A trailer for “Free Update 4” can be found after the break. (more…)

Square Enix will bring Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMix to PS4 in March

Square Enix has announced plans to bring the entire Kingdom Hearts saga to the PS4 in 2017.

We’ve known for some time now that Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8: Final Chapter Prologue (a remake of Dream Drop Distance) would be released for the PS4 this January, but today the publisher confirmed the Kingdom Hearts compilations previously released for the PS3 (Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMix and Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMix) will be relaunched exclusively for the PS4 on March 28, 2017.

Available for the first time in a single package, Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMix will include four games (the “Final Mix” versions of Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts II, and Birth By Sleep, as well as Re:Chain of Memories). Remastered cinematics for 358/2 Days and Re:Coded will also be included in the compilation.

All of these games will hopefully get you ready for Kingdom Hearts III, which might be released in 2017. In the meantime, Square Enix released a new trailer for Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMix, and it’s been embedded above.

Nintendo is planning a spooky dance party for this week’s Nintendo Download.

Kicking things into high gear is the Wii U release of Just Dance 2017 from Ubisoft. Now available to download through the Wii U eShop, Just Dance 2017 will include more than 40 new tracks to test your dancing skills featuring musicians like Justin Bieber, DNCE, and Britney Spears.
