Relive a behind-the-scenes tour of Dead Rising 4 from Comic-Con 2016
Frank West is back, and the developers at Capcom Vancouver don’t have good things to say about him. Actually, that’s not entirely accurate. They have plenty of good things to say about him, but more than a few of them also admit that he’s an “***hole.” Like John Amos in Die Hard 2, he’s our kind of ***hole. But after artfully slinging some profanities, the developers get down to the real business of offering the Comic-Con crowd (and now, everyone) a behind-the-scenes look at the development of Dead Rising 4.
They rush through the game’s Willamette Mall setting, as well as examining some of the new weapons, and the three different types of zombies. If you ever wanted to use a slushie machine to flash-freeze a zombie and then smash it to bits with a massive chunk of concrete, Dead Rising 4 might be the game for you.
Dead Rising 4 will be released for the PC and Xbox One as an “Xbox Play Anywhere” title on December 6.

Ubisoft will launch Just Sing this September
Ubisoft’s Just Dance franchise is expanding this September with the release of Just Sing for the PS4 and Xbox One. Players will be able to sing (or lip sync) along with more than 40 different songs from artists like One Direction, Justin Bieber, and Ariana Grande.
Here’s what the UbiBlog has to say about the game’s two modes, and the Just Sing Companion App, which turns any smartphone into a microphone for the game:
There’s the Party Mode, which lets up to four players sing or lip sync along with their favorite tracks while recording their own music videos that can be captured via the Just Sing Companion App (iOS, Android), Xbox One Kinect, or PlayStation Camera. To use the Companion App, players just need to connect their phones to the same Wi-Fi network as their gaming console.
Meanwhile, Battle Mode pits one player against another in a fight for supremacy, with special effects to make things a little more competitive.
But what songs will players be singing along with? Here’s a look at the first batch of songs from Just Sing’s soundtrack that were announced earlier today:
- Ariana Grande – Focus
- Ellie Goulding – “Love Me Like You Do”
- Imagine Dragons – “Radioactive”
- Justin Bieber – “What Do You Mean?”
- Maroon 5 – “One More Night”
- Meghan Trainor – “All About That Bass”
- One Direction – “Drag Me Down”
- Queen – “I Want To Break Free”
- Sam Mendes – Stitches
- Sia – “Chandelier”
- COVER of 3 Doors Down’s “Kryptonite”
- COVER of A-ha’s “Take On Me”
- COVER of Ben E. King’s “Stand By Me”
- COVER of Britney Spears’s “Baby One More Time”
- COVER of Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive”
- COVER of The Jackson 5’s “I Want You Back”
- COVER of Joan Jett’s “I Love Rock ‘N’ Roll”
- COVER of John Legend’s “All Of Me”
- COVER of Magic’s “Rude”
- COVER of One Republic’s “Counting Stars”
- COVER of The Weeknd’s “Can’t Feel My Face”
- COVER of Ylvis’s “The Fox”
- COVER of “Colors of the Wind” from Pocahontas
- COVER of “Let It Go” from Frozen
Just Sing will be released for the PS4 and Xbox One on September 6.
Nintendo Download: Kirby’s Epic Yarn, Kirby Mass Attack, Kirby’s Dream Course, more

Kirby is sucking up the entire Nintendo eShop this week with the launch of three classic Kirby games and a free demo for Kirby: Planet Robobot.
Let’s start on the Wii U, where Kirby’s Epic Yarn is now available to download. Kirby’s Epic Yarn was originally released for the Wii in 2010 and was Nintendo’s first attempt at creating a game entirely out of yarn and cloth. Wii U owners will also have the chance to download Kirby: Mass Attack this week, which was originally released for the DS in 2010. In Mass Attack, players will gather together a mob of Kirbys to solve the game’s many puzzles.
Over on the 3DS, Kirby fans will travel even further back in time if they download Kirby’s Dream Course this week. Originally released for the Super NES all the way back in 1995, Kirby’s Dream Course is the closest thing we’ll probably ever get to a Kirby golf game.
More information on all of these games (and a few other non-Kirby new releases) can be found after the break. (more…)

Legendary and Square Enix will produce a live-action adaptation of Life Is Strange

Legendary Entertainment has been bitten hard by the video game adaptation bug. Warcraft opened in theaters earlier this Summer, and more recently, the studio signed a deal with The Pokemon Company to produce a movie based on Detective Pikachu.
Now, they’ve set their sights on Dontnod’s Life Is Strange.
Square Enix has announced they’re teaming up with Legendary Digital Studios and DJ2 Entertainment to produce a live-action webseries based on Life Is Strange. Like the game, the adaptation will follow teenage photographer Max Caulfield as she learns to deal with her newly-discovered time travel powers in the face of apocalyptic visions.
In other coincidentally recent Life Is Strange news, Square Enix and Dontnod re-released the game’s first episode as a free download last week.
“Life is Strange is one of those rare properties that combines incredibly developed characters and storylines with deeply engaging gameplay,” said Greg Siegel, the Senior Vice President of Development and Production for Legendary Digital Studios. “It lends itself perfectly to live-action imaginings. We couldn’t be more excited to partner with Square Enix, Dontnod Entertainment, and DJ2 to bring the world of Arcadia Bay to life in an exciting new way.”
The search is currently on for a screenwriter, so hopefully we’ll learn more about Life Is Strange’s live-action adaptation soon.
Darksiders: Warmastered Edition officially announced for PC, PS4, Xbox One, Wii U

The apocalypse is being remastered once more… Nordic Games announced today that Darksiders will be re-released for the PC, PS4, Wii U, and Xbox One as Darksiders: Warmastered Edition.
In Darksiders, players saddle up as the first Horseman, War, and roam scorched Earth in search of the shadowy cabal that kickstarted the end of the world. The Warmastered Edition takes the original game and polishes it using improved graphical rendering to present its revelation in 60FPS (30 FPS on the Wii U) with 1080p visuals, better shadow quality, doubled resolution on all textures, and new post-processing effects. Basically, it’ll be a much prettier apocalypse.
The Darksiders: Warmastered Edition is expected to be available this Fall, though Nordic Games would only say that its release date is “Coming Soon.”
Former Burnout developers at Three Fields reveal they’re working on a racing game

Several founding members of Criterion, including Creative Director Alex Ward, split away from the Burnout developer in 2014 to form Three Fields Entertainment. Since then, the small company released their debut game, Dangerous Golf, and pledged to continue working on new titles “in a healthy and sustainable way.”
That brings us to yesterday, which is when Ward revealed the team is returning to their racing roots using the most low-key announcement I’ve ever seen:
Work has begun on a driving game.
— Alex Ward (@CrashedAlex) July 27, 2016
Will this new game look to Burnout for inspiration? It’s too early to know for sure, but if the indoor destruction found in Dangerous Golf is any indication, I’m going to say “probably.”

Xbox Store Today: We Happy Few, Hyper Light Drifter, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1+2, more
Xbox One Game Preview fans will definitely want to pay attention to today’s Xbox Games Store update, which includes the official early release of Compulsion’s We Happy Few, a drug-fuelled trip through the 1960s in a retrofuturistic city in England.
Speaking of “retro,” Heart Machine unleashed their overhead action RPG Hyper Light Drifter on the Xbox One. The “Zeldalike” features a unique graphical style, along with “enemies [that] are vicious and numerous” and “hazards [that] will easily crush your frail body.” Slightly less retro is Activision’s Xbox One re-release of Marvel: Ultimate Alliance and Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2, a pair of action RPGs that were originally released for the Xbox 360. Both games are available separately or in a two-game bundle.
Finally this week, Telltale continues Minecraft: Story Mode with the seventh episode, Access Denied. It’s available to download for both the Xbox One and Xbox 360.
You can find more information on all of these (and a few other new releases) after the break. (more…)
1992 Dream Team and 2016 USA Basketball team will take the court in NBA 2K17

2K Games wants fans to go for the gold this Fall as they’ve announced plans to add the 2016 USA Basketball Men’s National Team that’ll compete in this Summer’s Olympics and the 1992 “Dream Team” to NBA 2K17:
Comprised of NBA Hall of Famers, including Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Clyde Drexler, Karl Malone and David Robinson, the 1992 “Dream Team” is universally considered one of, if not the greatest, team ever assembled in basketball history. Fans will be able to pit that roster against this year’s athletes on the USAB Men’s National Team, which includes NBA 2K17 cover athlete Paul George and Team 2K athletes Kevin Durant, Draymond Green, Jimmy Butler, and Kyrie Irving.
The 2016 USA Basketball Men’s National Team will be included in the main game and available to everyone who purchases NBA 2K17, but the 1992 “Dream Team” will only be available as bonus content for fans who pre-order.
2K Games also confirmed that Mike Krzyzewski, Coach K to friends and fans, will appear on the sidelines coaching the 2016 USA Basketball Men’s National Team. Krzyzewski stepped into a motion capture booth for his NBA 2K debut and he’ll also appear in a revamped Tutorial Mode that focuses on “teaching fundamental basketball strategies including pick and roll execution, proper defensive positioning, ball movement, boxing out, court awareness, and more.”
NBA 2K17 will be released for the PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One on September 20. However, everyone who pre-orders will receive access to a special “Tip-Off Edition” that’ll be released on September 16.
