Square Enix has uploaded new trailers for Switch and Xbox One launch of Final Fantasy X/X-2 and Final Fantasy XII

Square Enix will bring a big batch of classic Final Fantasy games to the Switch and Xbox One in 2019, with two titles on track for release this April. Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster will arrive on April 16, and it’ll be followed by Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age on April 30.
Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster
Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster contains Final Fantasy X and its sequel Final Fantasy X-2, renowned as some of the most popular titles in the whole Final Fantasy series for their emotional stories and stunning graphical quality. Final Fantasy X follows the story of superstar athlete Tidus, whose fate intertwines with the beautiful summoner Yuna as they embark on a pilgrimage to save the world of Spira. Final Fantasy X-2 takes place two years later, following the stories of Yuna, Rikku and Paine in their exciting adventures to uncover ancient secrets and overcome powerful enemies. Having shipped over 14 million units worldwide to date, Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster invites new players to discover a stunning RPG adventure you will never forget.Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age
Based on the 12th numbered entry in the smash hit Final Fantasy series that has sold over 6 million units worldwide, Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age has re-worked the game’s design and re-mastered their visuals in full-HD, making full use of current generation hardware capabilities to improve the graphical and audio quality for the ultimate play experience. Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age takes place in the breath-taking world of Ivalice, where magic is commonplace and airships fill the sky. The small kingdom of Dalmasca is caught between warring empires Archadia and Rozarria, and the lone heir to the Dalmascan throne, Princess Ashe has devoted herself to forming a resistance to liberate her homeland. The story begins when Ashe meets Vaan, a young thief who dreams of flying free in the skies, as their adventure changes the destiny of the world’s greatest nations.
Because we’re getting closer to the launch of Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster and Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age, Square Enix has uploaded a new trailer for each game. Both trailers can be found after the break. (more…)

It looks like Switch owners will soon get the chance to replay three of the most popular entries in the Resident Evil franchise.

New Retail Releases: Dead or Alive 6, Trials Rising, The Lego Movie 2, More

It’s another big week for new entries in some of your favorite franchises in today’s New Retail Releases report.
Koei Tecmo is back with the sixth entry in their other fighting franchise (no, not that one, the other other one), Dead or Alive 6. Set to launch this week for the PS4 and Xbox One (and available as a download-only title for the PC), Dead or Alive 6 will include an upgraded visual presentation and a new combo-based fighting system.
Ubisoft will hit the gas this week on the next entry in their wild “motorcycle platforming” series, as they’re all set to bring Trials Rising: Gold Edition to the PS4, Switch, and Xbox One. Trials Rising will add character customization to the franchise, as well a two-player Tandem Bike Mode. The Gold Edition will also come packed with an Expansion Pass that’ll allow free access to future downloadable content.
Players who want to put it all together this week can look towards TT Games’s The Lego Movie 2. Based on the new film starring Chris Pratt and Elizabeth Banks, The Lego Movie 2 will be available on store shelves for the PS4 and Xbox One (a PC download will also be available).
Finally this week, Codemasters will get down in the muck with Dirt Rally 2.0 (PS4 and Xbox One) and Square Enix will re-release Nier: Automata in a special “Game of The Yorha Edition” package.
You can find more new retail releases from this week after the break. (more…)

Mechstermination Force is a Switch-exclusive “Boss Rush” shooter from the creator of Gunman Clive
The two games in Horberg Productions’s Gunman Clive series have built up a dedicated following on Nintendo platforms over the years, and now the team is ready to unveil their new project… Mechstermination Force.
Set to launch for the Switch this Spring, Mechstermination Force is a “Boss Rush” side-scrolling shooter where one or two players will do battle with giant mechs who have taken over the world (think Contra by way of Cuphead). Horberg Productions shared a few more details about the game on their official website:
Battle against massive bosses, jump and climb onto them to find their weak spots and blow them to kingdom come in this action packed platforming boss rush, from the creator of the Gunman Clive series.
When the MegaMechs have taken control of the world, one small group of brave soldiers are still fighting for humanity’s independence. Join them and lead the charge against the mechanical menace.
Get powerful weapons and upgrades! Use the Magnet Gloves to climb on top of robots the size of Skyscrapers, double jump over pools of lava with the Boost Boots, and use your trusty baseball bat to smash the MegaMechs energy cores.
The first trailer for Mechstermination Force (which is probably a mouthful to say out loud) has been embedded above.
Super Crome: Bullet Purgatory will be released through Steam Early Access on March 19
The graphical style of Stumphead Games’s Super Crome: Bullet Purgatory owes a huge debt to early 80s classics such as Asteroids, and shooter fans will be able to bask in its vector-inspired visuals for the first time when it launches in Steam Early Access on March 19:
As mankind’s only hope for survival, Crome must eliminate dozens of waves of cosmic beasts and ships to escape the dark abyss. Thankfully, his sleek ship comes equipped with devastating weapons and a precise dashing ability; a perfect combination for slaying alien scum. Take control of Crome as he hunts down hordes of galactic monstrosities and bring back peace in this retro-inspired bullet hell.
“Whether you’re feeling nostalgic for retro high score chasing or seeking a modern shooter with tight controls, there is an adventure here waiting for you,” said Josh Jacobs, the founder of Stumphead Games. “Super Crome has been carefully crafted to pay homage to SNES classics and combining that feeling with modern mechanics.”
A Release Date Trailer for Super Crome: Bullet Purgatory has been embedded above.
Nintendo of America’s Reggie Fils-Aime will retire on April 15
While he may not be as instantly recognizable as Howard Phillips and his trademark bowties, fans have enthusiastically embraced Reggie Fils-Aime in his role as Nintendo of America’s President for more than a decade. But all good things must come to an end, and Fils-Aime has announced his intention to retire on April 15.
“Nintendo owns a part of my heart forever,” Fils-Aime said. “It’s a part that is filled with gratitude – for the incredibly talented people I’ve worked with, for the opportunity to represent such a wonderful brand, and most of all, to feel like a member of the world’s most positive and enduring gamer community. As I look forward to departing in both good health and good humor, this is not ‘game over’ for me, but instead ‘leveling up’ to more time with my wife, family, and friends.”
As the public face of Nintendo of America since 2006, Fils-Aime is well known for his lively presentation style and commanding stage presence. If nothing else, everyone out there has surely seen his larger-than-life persona on display announcing Wii Fit at E3 2007, and which spawned one of the Internet’s truly great memes (“My body is ready!”).
“I really appreciate everything Reggie has done for Nintendo,” said Shuntaro Furukawa, the President of Nintendo. “Inside and outside our company, Reggie is known as an exceptional leader. We are grateful that he is leaving the business in good shape with strong momentum. While we will miss him and we wish him the very best in his retirement, we are also pleased to have such an able successor ready to step into that role.”
Doug Bowser, Nintendo’s appropriately-named Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing, will succeed Fils-Aime as President in April.
