Rumor: First CoD Black Ops II DLC titled “Revolution,” coming to Xbox 360 next month
A reddit user has uploaded a picture of a poster that supposedly showcases the first downloadable content for Call of Duty: Black Ops II. Titled “Revolution,” the pack will contain four multiplayer maps (Downhill, Grind, Hydro, Mirage), one Zombies map (Die Rise), and one new weapon (Peacekeeper SMG).
A second set of images show that the pack will be released first through the Xbox Live Marketplace on January 29. If history is any guide, the pack will be available for PC and PS3 (and hopefully Wii U) owners a month later.
The first DLC packs for Modern Warfare 3 and the original Black Ops were also released during the last week of January, so this leak is probably legit.

Retro City Rampage coming to XBLA on January 2

Vblank Entertainment has teased Retro City Rampage‘s impending debut on the Xbox Live Arcade and Wii Shop Channel all month long. Today, the developer is finally ready to announce that the game will be added to the XBLA on January 2 (priced at 1200 Microsoft Points/$15).
That’s right, next week!
A variety of tweaks of polishing were added to the XBLA version, making it the ultimate version of Retro City Rampage. This additional content is also available on the PS3/Vita version of the game as a downloadable patch.
The WiiWare rendition of the game is still on track for a January release.

“Link’s Triumph” is the second greatest Zelda cartoon ever
We all know that the greatest version of Link in animated form is forever spouting the catchphrase, “Welllllll, excussssssssse meeeeeeeeee, Princess!” But Read Only Memory’s “Link’s Triumph” is a pretty close second.
“Link’s Triumph” is a collaboration between Shamoozal and GoNintendo, retelling the story of Link’s battle against the dragon that stands at the end of the first dungeon in The Legend of Zelda.
The cartoon is only 45 seconds long, but it’ll definitely be the best 45 seconds of your day. Just imagine what they could have done with a full minute.
Sony discontinues PS2 shipments in Japan
What a run! After 12 years, nine months, and 25 days, Sony has announced that new shipments of the PlayStation 2 console in Japan have been discontinued. A similar announcement will probably be made for the European and American markets soon.
During the course of the system’s life, over 155 million PS2s were sold, making it the most successful video game console of all time.
It’s unlikely that any new games are still in development for the system, so this October’s Pro Evolution Soccer 2013 will probably go down in history as the last PS2 game ever.

Dead Space 3 WILL recognize your screams of sheer terror

A few weeks ago, EA and Visceral revealed that the Xbox 360 version of Dead Space 3 would include Kinect support for voice commands. At the time I wondered, “will it recognize your screams of sheer terror?” Apparently, the answer is yes, yes it will.
Executive Producer Steve Papoutsis recently sat down with CVG and confirmed that swearing and screaming at the Necromoprh terrors within the game will prompt a response from your Xbox 360 copy of Dead Space 3…
CVG: When we think of horror games we think of people screaming and swearing… will Kinect pick up on our feedback?
Papoutsis: Yes! We actually have some commands that people will need to figure out. But there are commands where you might be in a certain situation and you might yell a specific expletive and it might behave in a way that you want it to. We definitely have done some things there…
Wow. Innovation of the year!

Aliens: Colonial Marines story trailer nuked my brain from orbit
Gearbox’s Aliens: Colonial Marines is less than two months away. February 12, 2013 to be exact (though TBA on the Wii U). The game has been in development a long time, but it looks like it might just be worth the wait. Especially after the epic story trailer that Sega has dropped onto the Internet today.
“In about 30 seconds that horizon is going to turn black as the most dangerous killing machines in the universe rise up over it.”
Whoa! Welcome to the official sequel to Aliens. It is about time!
Nintendo Download: Fluidity Spin Cycle, Super Mario Bros Lost Levels, Mega Man, more

Did you get a Wii U for Christmas? Although I guess the more important question is… have you finished downloading the massive system update required to get it online yet? If you said yes to both questions, you might want to check out a few discounted eShop games. Chasing Aurora, Little Inferno, and Trine 2: Director’s Cut are all on sale for the next week and a half.
What abput what’s new? This week Nintendo has added a trio of big games to the 3DS eShop including Fluidity: Spin Cycle, Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels, and the original Mega Man!
You can read all about those games, as well as the rest of the new releases, after the break. (more…)
