God Mode coming to PC, PSN, XBLA in 2013

Atlus has announced they’ll be publishing God Mode, a downloadable shooter from Old School Games and Saber Interactive in early 2013. God Mode is in development for the PC, PlayStation Network, and Xbox Live Arcade and promises to be “an exciting third-person shooter that looks like a retail product […] with gameplay features and cooperative play like no other downloadable title.”

God Mode is a shooter that places players in the boots of a former god who has been banished from Mount Olympus along with the rest of his family. The former god must battle through the Maze of Hades to return to the Pantheon and reclaim their rightful place alongside the other gods.

God Mode will carry a budget price of $9.99 (800 Microsoft Points) and include a four-player multiplayer (local LAN and online), fully customizable gods, a Rage meter, and in-game modifiers known as Tests of Faith.

I assume your might will be tested as well.

Earth Defense Force 2025 gameplay video showcases new soldiers

We’re on track to receive not one, but two Earth Defense Force games in 2013. There’s the Vita re-release Earth Defense Force 2017 Portable and the brand new PS3/Xbox 360 game Earth Defense Force 2025. EDF! EDF! EDF!

In addition to dating EDF 2017 Portable yesterday, D3 Publisher Japan has unveiled a new gameplay video that showcases the new soldier types found in EDF 2025. If you played last year’s Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon, you’ll be familiar with the Pale Wing and Air Raider classes, but they’ve been slightly modified for EDF 2025. Actually, the Pale Wing corps operates exactly like the Jet Armor did in Insect Armageddon. Limited flight capabilities from a jetpack and an energy-based weapon mean that the bugs have no where to hide.

The real fun is found with the Air Raider class. The Air Raider is a support soldier that drops a variety of turrets including a healing station, a machine gun turret, and land mines. The Air Raider, true to his name, can also call in an airborne strike that kills bugs dead.

Guaranteed.

Earth Defense Force 2017 Portable adds seven new levels to the game (bringing the total to 60) and reintroduces the jetpack-powered Pale Wing corps from the Japan-only Earth Defense Force 2. An online multiplayer mode has been added to EDF 2017 Portable as well.

Nintendo announces March 24 release date for Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity

pokemongatestoinfinityThose lovable Pokemon will invade the 3DS next year in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity, the latest game in Nintendo’s long-running franchise.

Scheduled for release on March 24, Gates to Infinity will let players take control of their favorite Pokemon (Pikachu, Snivy, Oshawott, Tepig or Axew) and “journey through infinite dungeons, battle and befriend other Pokémon, collect treasures and explore the game’s vast, beautiful world.”

It sounds pretty similar to every previous Pokemon Mystery Dungeon game, but this rendition will also include “Magnagates” that can only be accessed by scanning a circular object in the real world with the 3DS Camera and a multiplayer mode.

Nintendo has promised to reveal more details on the multiplayer mode soon.

Star Trek game beams into stores on April 23

startrek-boxA few months before Benedict Cumberbatch takes on the crew of the Enterprise, we’ll all get a chance to control Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock in Namco Bandai’s Star Trek for the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. Today, the publisher has confirmed that the game will be available in stores on April 23, 2013.

They’ve also announced that players who pre-order Star Trek will obtain the “Elite Officer Pack,” a downloadable bonus that includes ten costumes from the first movie as well as three additional weapons (Starfleet Type IV Stealth Sniper Rifle, U.S.S. Kelvin Hand Phaser, and Academy Phaser). The costumes will include “Stealth” uniforms, Kirk in a leather jacket, U.S.S. Kelvin uniforms, Academy uniforms, and Kobayashi Maru uniforms.

One of those is not like the others.
