Daily Scoop: January 27, 2014 – In the aftermath of the Global Game Jam
This weekend was really exciting! The Global Game Jam ran from Friday to Sunday, and while the theme was generally disliked across the board, some great brainstorming was had, and some even greater ideas were born. I haven’t had a chance to play any of the games yet, but I worked on a game of my own with Inform7, and it’s going great so far! I didn’t get it done in time for the jam, but I’m still proud that I got the ball rolling. Making games is awesome!
There are some good deals happening at Amazon right now. Physical deals include Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag for $29.99 and Rocksmith 2014 Edition for $49.99. Digital deals include the Legacy of Kain Pack for $7.49 and the Max Payne 3 and Grand Theft Auto IV Bundle for $7.99. Scoop ’em up!
Steam has Duke Nukem Forever on sale for $4.99. Um, yay? And there’s only one sale at the Humble Store – it’s Delve Deeper for $1.24
But hey, at least there are lots of t-shirts! (more…)

Daily Scoop: January 24, 2014 – Global Game Jam starts tonight
It’s Friday, which means the weekend is upon us! It feels like a Tuesday, since we had so much time off this week. I’m not complaining, though! Tonight starts the Global Game Jam, an international jam that lasts until Sunday night. We will be at the Philly Game Forge location, if you want to stop by and cheer us on!
If you’re looking for some great gaming deals today, there are two good bundles that just started. First up is the new Humble Weekly Bundle, which lets you pay what you want for Paranautical Activity, Dungeons of Dredmor Complete, and Hack, Slash, Loot. Pay more than the average to unlock The Binding of Isaac + Wrath of the Lamb DLC, Teleglitch: Die More Edition Gun and Tunes, and Sword of the Stars: The Pit – Gold Edition. There are some new deals at the Humble Store as well, including Surgeon Simulator for $2.49, Proteus for $4.99, and Windosill for $0.99.
There’s also a new Indie Royale bundle up as well. The Debut 9 Bundle consists of Airship Dragoon, Little Trus Man, Sky Nations, Inescapable, Dark Gates, and Chronicles of a Dark Lord: Episode 1 Tides of Fate. Pay whatever the current minimum is for the games, or pay $6 to also get the bonus album.
There are some new deals up at Steam as well. The Bureau: XCOM Declassified and The Raven – Legacy of a Master Thief are both 75%. The former is $12.49 while the latter is $6.24.
Let’s wrap it up with some t-shirts! (more…)

Here’s the opening cinematic from The Last of Us: Left Behind
… and it’s wonderful.
In this prequel, we get to see Ellie as she was before she met Joel. The trailer shows Ellie and her friend Riley reunited in an unusual way, with Ellie obviously struggling with some feelings of betrayal. This is the first single-player DLC for The Last of Us… and by that I mean hopefully the first of many. For an in-depth look at Ashley Johnson, the voice of Ellie, check out the PlayStation Blog interview with her, or this video interview with Johnson and Yaani King, the voice of Riley.
The Last of Us: Left Behind will be available on Friday, February 14 on PlayStation 3. I hope you’re ready to spend your Valentine’s Day with Ellie.

Daily Scoop: January 23, 2014 – Snow boots required
Now that I’m of the age that I should be referring to myself as a “grownup,” I have noticed that there are things I can’t tolerate anymore. One of those things is cold, wet feet. I think it’s time that I take the plunge and actually get a pair of snow boots. But the problem is that actual snow boots are seriously expensive. So I can either get a cheap pair that will likely wear out and/or not protect my feet, or get a for real pair of awesome boots. Right now I’m leaning towards the latter, but… it’s so many money! And all I want to do is stay inside and play games anyway. Maybe I’ll just stop going outside!
Anyway, for days when I don’t need to go outside, I like to have a nice pile of games to play, and the Humble Store knows how to keep me well stocked! Right now, they have Bag It for $0.99, Eldritch for $4.99, and Fotonica for $4.99. Scoop ’em up!
Lots of t-shirts today… (more…)

Daily Scoop: January 22, 2014 – Snow day gaming!
We got a snow day, woo! We were up all night playing video games, and when we stopped gaming, I marathoned more Archer, and Anthony created more Lego robots in the Lego builder. It was a pretty incredible night. Now our friend Adam is here, and our main goal is to get past level 15 in Legend of Dungeon. I think we can do it, if I could just stop attacking random Minotaurs…
There are a few good deals you can hop onto today! Steam’s Midweek Madness is the Hitman Collection for $8.99, and includes Hitman 2: Silent Assassin, Hitman: Absolution, Hitman: Blood Money, and Hitman: Codename 47.
Not in the mood for Hitman? There are a few good deals at the Humble Store as well. You can get Retro City Rampage for $4.99, Shadowgrounds for $0.99, and Truck Racer for $19.99. Scoop ’em up!
Of course, there are some t-shirts after the jump! (more…)

Daily Scoop: January 21, 2014 – Crazy snow edition
So I’m not sure about where you are right now, but Philadelphia is covered in snow. And despite the fact that the Internet has been telling us about this snow for days, the city was not prepared at all and is a complete mess. There’s been no salt, no plowing, and lots and lots of sirens. I even got sent home early. Excite!
Anyway, in case you’re snowed in and want some games, Amazon’s Editor’s Choice Deals are going until January 31st. In case you’re looking for some Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag sales, there are some of those, too. It’s $29.99 for the game on PC, PS3, Wii U, and Xbox 360, while the Limited Edition is $99.99.
And now, it’s t-shirt time! (more…)

You’ve also got just one more day to get the Humble Indie Bundle X. Pay the average for To the Moon, Joe Danger 2: The Movie, Papa & Yo, and Runner 2. Pay more than the average to unlock Hoard, Strike Suit Zero, Toki Tori 2+, Reus, and Surgeon Simulator 2013.

Here’s how to enable “Retro Mode” in Broken Age
It seems everyone has forgotten how mad they are at Double Fine, because since the first half of Broken Age came out, all the Internet has talked about is how much they love it… and how to unlock the Easter Egg that will make the game look like a classic adventure game of old. The video above gives you a walkthrough of how to 8-bit this lovely game.
Backers of the Kickstarter are already running around the world joyously, but regular people can’t play it until January 28th. You can pre-order the game on Steam now for $22.49 (10% off).
