Daily Scoop: November 27, 2012 – The post-sales crash

All of the crazy sales and deals and long hours at the mall and debating on what to get/not to get are over now. Cyber Monday left us in the dust. I managed to not buy anything yesterday, and as I watched the prices go back up on the items I wanted, I felt regret and satisfaction at the same time. Capitalism can be so confusing.

Amazon still has some deals going on, but nothing really of note. Resident Evil: Revelations is $18.99, The Secret World is $29.99, and Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom is $24.99. See? Nada.

There are a few decent shirts up, though! (more…)

Daily Scoop: November 26, 2012 – The sales continue on Cyber Monday!

I managed to survive the entire weekend without buying anything (unless you count cat litter, which I don’t, in the scheme of Black Friday sales). Oddly enough, it’s today that’s tempting me the most, with Journey: The Collector’s Edition on sale for $14.99 at Amazon and GameStop, as well as Theatrhythm Final Fantasy on sale for just $19.99 at Newegg. Will I be able to survive this last day of sales? All signs point to no, according to my d20 magic eight ball.

Once again, John Scalzo’s got you covered for Amazon deals today. Is it just me, or have these sales been going on for way too long? Not that I don’t love being tempted (spoiler alert: I hate it!), but it just seems like it’s five full days of a shopping frenzy, followed by a lot of Christmas music. Am I right?

Let’s not forget that it’s the last day of the Steam sale as well. Get Alan Wake for $9.99, Castle Crashers for $4.99, and/or The Witcher 2 for $7.49. Oh, and Torchlight II is only $9.99, which you absolutely should get.

And now, time for the shirts! (more…)

Daily Scoop: November 23, 2012 – Black Friday is here!

Black Friday is here! If you’re out and about shopping right now, you’re a much braver soul than I am. I spent a few years doing the physical shopping on Black Friday thing, and it was so harrowing and crowded that I’ve retired from it. Now I mostly just give myself a maximum amount I can spend on Amazon, and work from there. This year, I’m trying my hardest not to purchase anything. We’ll see if I can last the day!

John Scalzo’s already got you covered if you’re looking for great deals at Amazon. There are also more deals at Best Buy, Radio Shack, Target, and Toys R Us. I’m trying not to buy Dead Island ($9.99), Dishonored ($25), GTA IV: Complete Collection ($15), Little Big Planet Karting ($25), Max Payne 3 ($15), and Spec Ops: The Line ($15). So far, so good…

Did I also mention the ridiculously awesome Steam sales happening today? Crysis 2: Maximum Edition is $11.99, Farming Simulator 2013 is $14.99, Saints Row: The Third is $9.99, Skyrim is $29.99, Transformers: Fall of Cybertron is $29.99, and War of the Roses is $14.99. I’m not a PC gamer, but I’m especially interested in the Saints Row deal, because you can get it with The Full Package for just $12.49. So tempting! Especially since my boyfriend has a computer that can run it. Am I about to become a real PC gamer?

A few good shirts up for sale today! (more…)

Daily Scoop: November 21, 2012 – Thankful for so much

It’s not even Thanksgiving, and I’m already thankful for so much. I’m thankful for the good friends I spent last night with, laughing until we were in pain. I’ve never had that much fun at an IHOP! I’m thankful for my boyfriend, who just wrote his first article. I’m thankful for my family, who I got to see this weekend (and surprisingly survive a game of Cards Against Humanity with). I’m thankful for so much!

Day three of Black Friday deals at Amazon is upon us, and again, I’m just copying from John Scalzo’s hard work:

I might get Spirit Camera… NO!! No, I won’t! Don’t do it, bro!

Three awesome shirts today – see if you can resist them! (more…)

Daily Scoop: November 20, 2012 – Black Friday deals, day two

What’s everyone got going on tonight after work? You should stop by Redcap’s Corner for some board game fun. I’ve got five games to play tonight, so hopefully we have enough time!

It’s day two of Black Friday deals at Amazon, and it’s glorious. John Scalzo did all the legwork already over in this post for the whole week, but if you just want to see what’s up for today, here’s the list:

Must. Resist. Cannot. Purchase!

Sleeping Dogs: Nightmare in North Point Review: Sink Your Teeth Into This DLC

If you read my review of Sleeping Dogs, you definitely know that I love it. So when “Nightmare in North Point,” the first DLC to extend the story, was announced, I was excited. It looked similar to what Rockstar was going for when they released “Undead Nightmare” for Red Dead Redemption, or what Sucker Punch did with Infamous 2’s “Festival of Blood:” a fun expansion that gave the game a horror element that had nothing at all to do with the main story. While it’s a blast to play, “Nightmare in North Point” is disappointingly short, and left me wanting much, much more. (more…)

Daily Scoop: November 19, 2012 – Let the Black Friday deals begin!
