Daily Scoop: May 7, 2012 – Another day, another deal
Another weekend has flown by, and another Monday is upon us. It’s like it’s some sort of pattern or something.
But at least some wild deals have appeared! Amazon’s new weekly deals are up:
- Rage is on sale for $14.99 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360
- The Fallout 3 & Oblivion Double Pack is $19.99 for Xbox 360
- Ninja Gaiden 3 for PlayStation 3 is $39.99
- Xbox Ear Force XC1 Communicator Headset is $17.99
- Get Mortal Kombat Vita and a 4GB card when you buy the WiFi PlayStation Vita model
They’re also having a Mother’s Day Sale on select video games, including Just Dance, Zumba Fitness, and The Biggest Loser Challenge. That seems a bit sexist. What if my mom plays Gears of War?

Diablo III Beta Impressions: Your Idle Hands Will Soon Belong to Diablo

For those of us who have been pouting and kicking dirt around, complaining about how Diablo III looked too much like World of Warcraft, or how it was taking oh so long to have a release date, I’ve got some news for you. It’s coming, and it’s spectacular. From what I saw in the beta (that ended May 1) – a beta that comprised roughly 3% of the game, if you can believe what you read on the Internet – I can safely say that I’m about to lose a chunk of my life in the next few weeks. Forget blacking out from drinking: I’m about to go on a full Diablo III binge. (more…)

Daily Scoop: May 3, 2012 – Nearly the weekend!
Well, not too terribly close, but still, it’s Thursday, so we’re almost there! Another work week is close to behind us. And this weekend is Cinco de Mayo! How will you be celebrating? I’ll be playing Dungeons and Dragons and trying to get through more of Prototype. Maybe I’ll even play a little Cards Against Humanity. I know, I know – I live on the edge!
Not really too much to mention today deal-wise. Amazon has predictably lowered the price of the Xbox 360 Limited Edition Kinect Star Wars Bundle to $399.99 as well, bringing it even closer to ending up in my living room. Maybe if I wait long enough they’ll add in some store credit, and it will be too much for me to resist!

Daily Scoop: May 2, 2012 – Nero Day
It’s humpday, and it’s raining! But that’s OK, because I’m listening to Nero, which is brightening the day up considerably. It’s a tea and blanket kind of day, but instead, I’ve got Vitamin Water and a hoody. I guess I’ll just have to make do…
Not too much in the way of deals today! Amazon’s digital deals are: $7.99 for Deus Ex: Human Revolution – Augmented Edition, $6.99 for Deus Ex: Human Revolution – Standard Edition, and $4.99 for Dungeon Siege 3.
Other than that, GameStop’s got some new deals, including $50 off of the Xbox 360 Limited Edition Kinect Star Wars Bundle, bringing it to a more reasonable $399.99. Scoop it up!
Just one shirt today, but it’s one of Megan Lara’s finest! (more…)

Daily Scoop: May 1, 2012 – May Day!
Happy May Day, everyone! I know it’s supposed to be a festive day, but it’s more like a day that’s about to be full of rain. What better way to kick off the spring after the weather we’ve been having???
Toys R Us has an awesome deal going on right now. Buy any two of the following games for $60:
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360)
- Gears of War 3
- Assassin’s Creed: Revelations (PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360)
- Batman Arkham City (PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360)
- Battlefield 3 (PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360)
- Final Fantasy XIII-2 (PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360)
- Soul Calibur V (PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360)
Considering those games are all $49.99-$59.99, this is a great deal!

Daily Scoop: April 30, 2012 – Goodbye, April!
It’s the last day of April and I say good riddance! April’s been nothing but cold weather and rain, with a major drought in video game releases. Bring on May, with the flowers and video games! Especially Diablo III.
Amazon’s got a brand new list of video game deals for this week:
- Save 45% on Sonic Generations on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360
- Save 20% on White Knight Chronicles II
- Save 60% on the DS version of LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean
- Save 25% on the Tritton Primer Wireless Stereo Headset for Xbox 360
Just one gaming t-shirt today, featuring a mashup many will want… (more…)
Daily Scoop: April 27, 2012 – Lady Day!
Hooray, it’s Friday! And it’s a day to celebrate your geek ladies. Tonight is Girl Geek Dinners Philadelphia’s one year anniversary! To celebrate, we’re having a fun talk and then a happy hour. Also, I’ve been listening to Ladytron all day. Coincidence? I think not.
So, what deals are going on today? Well, there’s a lot of hubbub around Torchlight II – we found out yesterday that, depending on where you pre-order it from, you can either get access to the Neverwinter beta, or a free copy of the original Torchlight. Steam’s also got an additional bonus: order four copies and get them for $60 instead of $80. (In case you were wondering, yes, Ryan Littlefield and I have already partaken in this.) GameStop also has a few deals going on – though the page is advertised as “50% off,” there’s not really much there that is actually that cheap.
Amazon’s got the same old boring deals going on:

Daily Scoop: April 26, 2012 – Persona day!
It’s rainy and crappy here in Philadelphia, and a sort of melancholy has descended upon me. I just keep trying to remember that it’s nearly Friday, and that is helping to get me through the day!
Ryan Littlefield brought to my attention a certain Persona sale going on over at Amazon today. All of these games are on the PlayStation 2, and they’re all just $19.99:
- Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4
- Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga
- Shin Megami Tensei Digital Devil Saga 2
- Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 FES
- Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne
Now is a great time to scoop these up and round off your Persona collection!
Next up is a funny Skyrim t-shirt: (more…)
