Daily Scoop: August 22, 2011 – Fun hangover!
I had way more fun this weekend than I thought humanly possible! The Philadelphia Geek Awards were amazing (check out what you missed!), I played loads of Dungeons & Dragons, and I got to spend yesterday with my family. It was low on video games, but with PAX Prime coming up in just a few days (eeeee!), I’ll be making up for that soon enough.
Amazon’s Deal of the Day in video games today is EA Sports MMA for $9.99 on the PlayStation 3. Also, the PC MMO Hello Kitty Online Premier Edition is just $5.56! The two new weekly deals are a discount on Kinect game Brunswick Pro Bowling, which is $27.08, and the other is buy Disney Epic Mickey, get another Disney game from that list free. That means you could get Disney Epic Mickey and Disney Sing It: Party Hits for $29.99. ZOMG.
Nothing in the t-shirt world today, unless you aim to misbehave: (more…)
Daily Scoop: August 19, 2011 – Philly Geek Awards
So tonight is a pretty special night around these parts – it’s the first annual Philly Geek Awards! I’ll be wearing a snazzy black dress and some heels, running around the Academy of Natural Sciences. If you’re there, say hello!
Today’s Deal of the Day in video games over at Amazon is Steelseries’ Xbox 360 Spectrum 4xB Gaming Headset in white for $41.99. And don’t forget – Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom is still $14.99 for PS3 and Xbox 360!
Today’s Tee Fury is called “Teenage Mutant Ninja Troopas” and it’s awesome: (more…)

Warp Zoned Wish List: What We Want From Borderlands 2

When Borderlands first came out back in October of 2009, I was smitten. I got it, played every single mission alone, and basically just devoured the game. Playing it on the PS3 was what some saw as my major handicap; most of my friends had it for the Xbox 360. However, I had a fantastic time playing the game alone. I played as Lilith the Siren, friendless and badass; I made that game my bitch, and then set it aside to move onto the next one. By the time the DLC came out, I was involved in other games.
Fast forward to a few weeks ago, when Borderlands was on sale for $14.99 – with all of the DLC – for PlayStation Plus subscribers. I gobbled it up, lent my hard copy to a friend, and dove right back in again. Podcast Producer Ryan Littlefield and I beat the game in just two short weeks, and as we approached the vault, he told me he’d found a copy of the GOTY edition at Target for $8 in the clearance section. “Of course you did,” I laughed, “they’re probably doing all this to gear up for the announcement of Borderlands 2.” That night, the rumor broke on Eurogamer; the next morning, Borderlands 2 was officially announced by 2K Games.
What this means is that there is massive potential here for a sequel that goes off the charts. There’s so much awesome in the first game, but there’s so much that could be adjusted to make the sequel even better. If they find the right balance, Borderlands fans will have much to rejoice about – and many more players to rejoice with. What follows is a detailed list of what I think should be included, discluded, and just plain married to Borderlands 2. (more…)
Daily Scoop: August 18, 2011 – I’m a sucker for screenshots
Tons of news is pouring in from gamescom, and one of those news items holds some screenshots from Borderlands 2. This is torture to me. Seriously. Hurry up, PAX!
Let’s see, what have we got today? Amazon’s Deal of the Day in video games today is Sony’s Ultimate Combo Pack: Little Big Planet Game of the Year Edition. For $39.99, you get the LBP game of the year edition as well as a DualShock controller. That’s a good price, even just for the controller alone!
No gaming t-shirts today, but there’s a pretty cool War Games shirt over at Ript: (more…)

The Last Story, Pandora’s Tower coming to Europe in 2012
Nintendo of Europe has revealed their latest release schedule, and at the very, very bottom, there are two names we’ve all been hoping to see: The Last Story and Pandora’s Tower. The release date just says “Coming to Europe in 2012.”
I know it’s too soon to crack out the champagne bottle, and that we can’t consider Operation Rainfall a success just yet, but I have to admit, I let out a whoop of joy when I saw this. I understand that Nintendo doesn’t have to cater to us, but in the end, we are the hardcore gamers Nintendo keeps saying they want to please, the ones who have been desperately importing games and playing ROMs for years. Why not give in to the untapped potential that is our undying love for your quirky JRPGs… not to mention our wallets, which have Zelda maps on them? (No, seriously. My wallet really does.)

Epic Games has five new games in development
The president of Epic Games, Michael Capps, announced at Gamescom that the company is working on five games.
“We have five new games at various stages of prototyping and development,” Capps said, though had no other details to give, other than that he is “glad to be targeting the PC again as a primary platform.” They’re currently wrapping up Gears of War 3 and finishing the Unreal Engine 4.
I don’t know about you, but just the thought of a new Unreal Tournament game is making me all tingly. I could really go for some Unreal Tournament 3 deathmatch right about now.

Resistance: Burning Skies added to Vita lineup
Fans of the Resistance series got some splendid news today with the announcement of Resistance: Burning Skies for the PlayStation Vita. Starring a brand new protagonist, the game is being developed specifically for the Vita, and has a story written by William C. Dietz, author of both Resistance novels.
I loved Resistance: Retribution for the PSP, and I can’t wait to see how the series will translate onto the futuristic hardware of the Vita.
