Daily Scoop: March 31, 2011 – Out like a lamb
March came in like a lion all right, leaving video games strewn all over my apartment. Now, it’s going out like a bad little lamb, tail between its legs, about to get soaked outside in the rain. Hopefully the April showers will bring lots and lots of time for me to catch up on all the games bad March left everywhere. Bad March! *Smacks on the nose with a rolled-up newspaper*
Anywho, today’s Amazon Deal of the Day in video games is Nintendo’s Sin and Punishment: Star Successor for the Wii. It’s a big discount – $19.99 down from $49.99. This rail shooter is “the long-awaited sequel to the Japanese Nintendo 64 cult-classic,” which sounds pretty darn awesome. Scoop it up if this is your kind of thing!
The most amazing thing today by far is what Tee Fury‘s got for sale:
You’ve got plenty of time to break this one in before Mortal Kombat hits store shelves. What are you waiting for? Finish him!

Daily Scoop: March 30, 2011 – Let me count the ways
There are so many ways to show someone you care. And if your loved one is a gamer, well, it’s easier than ever, especially with deals like those running over at Buy.com. They’ve got Xbox Live 12-Month Gold Subscription Cards for $39.99, Mafia II for PS3 and Xbox 360 for $14.99, Halo 3: ODST for $12.99, 250GB Hard Drive for Xbox 360 Slim for $54.99, and…well…way more stuff. Go check it out. And remember: you never need an excuse to buy your gamer some goodies.
The only thing more exciting than those hot prices is today’s Amazon Deal of the Day in video games, which is THQ’s Jeopardy for the Wii. It’s $19.99 down from $29.99, and features multiplayer Jeopardy fun for the whole family. It even has Alex Trebek! It’s no Celebrity Jeopardy, but if you’re looking for something to do with a group, this might be a good game for you.
We are sadly bereft of a good daily t-shirt, but hey! Jinx now has an entire section dedicated to Minecraft shirts. This one is my favorite:
Three Creeper Moon = LOL.

Daily Scoop: March 29, 2011 – A quiet Tuesday
It’s quiet today. Actually, I was looking at the upcoming release schedule last night, and it looks like it’s going to be a quiet few weeks…that is, until April 19th, when gamers everywhere will weep over all the money they’re going to be shelling out. That’s the day Portal 2, SOCOM 4, and Mortal Kombat are all coming out. Weep, friends. WEEP!!
Today’s Amazon Deal of the Day in video games is Sega of America’s Dreamcast Collection for the Xbox 360. The collection includes Sonic Adventure, Crazy Taxi, Space Channel 5 Part 2, and Sega Bass Fishing. It’s $19.99 today from $29.95, so if you’ve been waiting for it to drop in price to snatch it up, now’s your chance! I had friends in high school who were so into Sega Bass Fishing that they named their band Bassin’ Black Bass. I wonder if they’re picking this one up???
Nothing good on the t-shirt front today, but today’s shirt.w00t reminded me of Disney’s Epic Mickey:
Those of you who know me already know that I shuddered in horror at the very sight of it.

Daily Scoop: March 28, 2011 – 3DSmania!
The 3DS came out yesterday – did you get yours? Ryan Littlefield and I are standing by the mailbox, trying to do anything but count the seconds until ours arrive. He ordered Rayman 3D, and I ordered Lego Star Wars III The Clone Wars 3D (try saying that 10 times fast). What did you get with your magical contraption?
Today’s Amazon Deal of the Day in video games is Nintendo’s Samurai Warriors 3 for the Wii. It’s just $34.99 today from $49.99. This hack-and-slasher boasts 35 playable characters, “many based on actual figures from Japanese history,” and five different modes: Story, Free, Murasame Castle (aka Haunted Castle Mode!), Historical, and Dojo. If this is a series you’re into, this is a good deal for you!
Just one t-shirt today, and it’s from Qwertee:
This is actually pretty cool, and I would consider getting it if I hadn’t already spent this month’s t-shirt quota on other daily shirts (which are bankrupting me). I also especially like this one because I was just talking about Orlando Jones the other day (remember that time he was in Evolution?) and how he used to be the 7-Up guy. “Make 7…Up Yours!” Oh man, good times.

Daily Scoop: March 25, 2011 – 3DS launch: engage!
The 3DS launches this Sunday, which is pretty exciting! I’m looking forward to finally being able to play with one that isn’t attached to either some sort of mounted table, or a hot chick walking around with a giant battery pack on her back. Wait, actually, is there a model of the 3DS that comes with a hot chick? Nintendo should really consider that.
Anyway, speaking of Amazon, if you pre-order your 3DS there, or if you’ve already pre-ordered it there, you’ll be getting a $25 promotional credit towards a 3DS game from this list. They’re also running an additional deal in which you get a $10 promotional credit towards another 3DS game when you buy a 3DS game. Potentially, it’s some good savings on games that are $39.99. Realistically, I don’t know if I want more than one of those games, and I hope those promotional credits will work towards games I actually want to buy later, whenever the games worthy of buying actually come out. Thanks anyway, guys!
Today’s Amazon Deal of the Day in video games is Maximum Family Games’s Sniper Elite for the Wii. It’s $19.99 down from $39.99, and promises “specialized sniper technique training.” According to customer Chris J, it’s an “Excellent Game!” and worthy of five stars. So if you trust him, you should drop those 20 clams right now.
For the t-shirt crowd, Tee Fury satiates your need today:
My initial reaction was that it was supposed to be a mash-up of Wario as the Demon Barber of Fleet Street, but apparently it’s Wario as a Gangs of New York member. I like my idea better.

Portal 2 Interview: Valve Talks New Characters, 2 Campaigns, and… *Spoiler Deleted*

Valve had another one of their awesome theatre-style booths at this year’s PAX East. Outside, they had demos of Portal 2 running and were giving out t-shirts; inside, they were giving fans insight into two new characters in the single-player part of the game and giving me more spoilers than I wanted to see. But as faithful journalists, News Editor Mike Gutierrez and I were determined to bring the information back home and deliver it to our readers. Afterwards, we were able to interview one of the game’s writers, Erik Wolpaw, who left me wishing April 19th was tomorrow. (more…)

Daily Scoop: March 24, 2011 – Snow, snow, snow
I may be wrong, but wasn’t spring supposed to start on Sunday? Then why is it snowing? I am not amused with this turn of events. This snow is making me want to be home, cuddling in bed, playing an RPG on the DS while eating a grilled cheese. Well, maybe not eating in bed. Wait, I’m an “adult” now – I’ll eat wherever I want!
Anyway, I don’t even know if it’s worth mentioning today’s Amazon Deal of the Day in video games, which is – again – EA’s Monopoly Streets for the PlayStation 3. Today it’s $19.99, as opposed to yesterday’s $35.39. Strange indeed.
Well at least there’s an awesome t-shirt! Today’s shirt.w00t depicts what it was like on a Bowser-operated construction site:
Do want.

Daily Scoop: March 23, 2011 – Gold Box Vacuum
And here it is…the Gold Box Vacuum. The day after a video game Gold Box Event, there’s nothing out there. No t-shirts, no good video game deals, no nothing. I guess I’ll just have to sit upon my mountain of video games and play something I’ve already got, instead of spending money on cheap games I won’t get to until 2015. *Sigh*.
Today’s Amazon Deal of the Day in video games is BORING. Err, I mean, it’s EA’s Monopoly Streets for the PlayStation 3. It’s just $35.39 today down from $39.99, making it practically completely pointless, unless you really want to save $4.60 on an electronic version of Monopoly to play on your PS3. But hey, if you’re that obsessed with owning Boardwalk and Park Place and all the Railroads, maybe this is your lucky day.
No good t-shirts today, but I do have some good news, which I just read about over at Nerd Reactor – Kmart and Toys R Us are having awesome deals for the 3DS. If you buy your 3DS at Kmart, you get $25 off one launch title – that means those $39.99 titles you’ve been grumbling about are only $14.99 at Kmart. And, if you want more than one, Toys R Us is having a buy one, get one half off deal on their 3DS games. So get your 3DS at Kmart, snag a game for $14.99, and either run home and play it, or stop at Toys R Us and grab two more games for about $60. Or you can be like me, and sop up the points on your Amazon credit card (3 times the points for purchases made at Amazon, leading to more Amazon gift cards). 3DS + Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars = a lot of points. Also, my Kmart is a nightmare, so i don’t want to bother with that on a Sunday morning, and I don’t even know where the closest Toys R Us is. The perils of living in the city…
