Bungie prepping big announcement for July 7?

Bungie declared July 7th to be Bungie Day back in 2007 and it looks like the famed developer plans to celebrate the made-up holiday again this year with some big announcements. Some big announcements possibly relating to their New Universe or Bungie Aerospace ventures.
Don’t believe me? Check out Friday’s Bungie Weekly Update:
Yup, truth told we have been less and less active on Bungie.net as of late. Part of that is owed to my aforementioned travel arrangements, but a significant amount of my time is also now being dedicated to other upcoming endeavors that won’t make a splash on the front page until Bungie Day closes in around us. Unfortunately, that means there are just too many balls in the air for me to juggle without letting a few fall to the ground.
Sounds like something big to me.

See the Gears of War 3 “Campaign” trailer
As promised, Epic Games has unleashed the “Campaign” trailer for Gears of War 3. And, true to form, this world premiere is totally EPIC. The Black Sabbath song (“War Pigs”) is also a perfect complement to the visuals.
Gears of War 3 will be released exclusively for the Xbox 360 on September 20th. But I probably didn’t have to tell you that.

StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm teaser trailer leaks out
Blizzard doesn’t want to even begin talking about StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm until 2012, but a short teaser trailer of the game just leaked onto the Internet, so let’s talk! The video (which has been pulled from YouTube multiple times today, so it’s likely this one won’t last either) gives us a short glimpse of Nova from the ill-fated StarCraft: Ghost and… well, that’s about it.
Something tells me this video will show up in “official” form during E3.

New Releases: Hunted, Sims 3 Generations, BlazBlue Continuum Shift II, More

The month of May didn’t start with many big releases and it comes to an end in much the same way.
There’s Bethesda’s co-op action-adventure Hunted: The Demon’s Forge for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360; the latest Sims 3 expansion, The Sims 3: Generations; and the 3DS/PSP conversion of BlazBlue: Continuum Shift II. That’s pretty much it. See you in June.

Kinect with Hulk Hogan’s Main Event this Fall
Majesco and developer Panic Button will run wild on your living room this Fall, exclusively for Kinect, in Hulk Hogan’s Main Event for the Xbox 360.
The game promises all the fun of being Hulk Hogan including training sessions with the Hulkster on the art of showmanship (and posing) as well as a full-fledged Kinect-based wrestling game:
In Hulk Hogan’s Main Event, players will learn the ropes from the man himself as Hulk Hogan schools them on delivering the best show for the crowd by emulating famous Hulk poses and performing more than 30 punishing combos. The Kinect sensor tracks players’ every move; the more dynamic the motion, the more high impact the wrestler’s performance is. Players will create their own unique wrestler personality through a robust create-a-wrestler feature including many choices for face, hair, tattoos, outfit, ethnicity, body type, and entrance music. Perform in nine different venues including the backyard brawl, local gym and giant stadium in front of a massive audience. Enter tournament mode for two player tag-team and take turns delivering extreme moves. Best of all, players can wield a variety of damaging objects including metal chairs and ladders to deliver bone-jarring hits to their opponents.
“Listen up, people! You will feel the power of Hulkamania when you step into this game,” said Hulk Hogan. “Whether you are taking the damage or selling the pain, this game will let you unleash your inner wrestler as you hype up the crowd while putting the hurt on anyone that stands in your way!”
Well said Hulk, well said.

David O. Russell leaves Uncharted movie
In a development sure to please many gamers, David O. Russell has stepped away from helming the upcoming film adaptation of the Uncharted series. Variety reports that while Russell is leaving his writing and directorial duties due to creative differences, the split is amicable. Sony is expected to look for a new writer and director to take on the project.
Russell said a lot of things about the project that made many gamers worry, from Mark Wahlberg starring as Drake, to the film focusing on Drake’s family, reimagined as a secret society of international art police. Whoever leads this thing, let’s just hope it’s somehow related to the game series.
UPDATE: Collider.com is reporting that Sony fired Russell from the project because his story ideas strayed too far from the game. Way to go Sony!

No TV debut for Gears of War 3 trailer
So the Gears of War 3 “Campaign Trailer” was supposed to make its world premiere during game six of the NBA Eastern Conference playoffs. There’s just one problem. Lebron James and the Miami Heat steamrolled over the Chicago Bulls in five games. This never would have happened in Michael Jordan’s heyday!
But don’t worry, Epic Games has a backup plan. The trailer will still premiere tomorrow, but instead of appearing on our TVs during the NBA Playoffs, it’ll be available online at the Gears of War Facebook page. Epic is even holding an Online Viewing Party at 3:00 PM (Eastern Time) for the official unveiling of the trailer. Which is three hours earlier than we would have gotten it if it had aired during the basketball game.
So I guess that’s something.
