Rumored Halo: Combat Evolved remake materializing November 15, 2011
In an act of miraculous prescience, Joystiq is claiming to have learned that some kind of “sort of full remake, but not really” is underway for Halo: Combat Evolved. To commemorate the tenth anniversary of the franchise, New Jersey native (woo!) and developer of TimeShift (boo!) Saber Interactive is executing the project. Features claimed to be hashed out include 1080p, 3D television support, more modern control configurations, and the series’ trademark online co-op. The unannounced remake even supposedly has an unannounced release date: November 15, 2011.
The game will be more than just an HD upgrade, with all new art assets but created with an different engine from the one used in Halo: Reach. The audio is expected to remain unaltered, and I have no idea why.
It’s good to see Microsoft finally getting on the HD-remake bandwagon, and there’s certainly no better time to do it for their flagship franchise than its 10th anniversary. Still, this is essentially the fourth Halo game in a span of three years.

Daily Scoop: February 4, 2011 – Ideas for Valentine’s Day edition
Just a quick note before I talk about Valentine’s Day: today’s Amazon Deal of the Day in video games is Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga. It’s $14.99 down from $19.99 for the Wii, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Nintendo DS. That’s a lot of Star Wars!
And now for what you really wanted to hear about! Valentine’s Day is nearly upon us. If you’re shopping for that special geek, Thinkgeek’s got you covered. I’m currently kind of smitten by the 8-Bit Flower Bouquet, and I love the Circuit Sweetheart Necklace. For the more intimate gift, I would definitely recommend getting your girl some Geek Panties or, if she’s into web design, the HTTPanties would be a sure hit. And if all else fails, telling your geek you love them with an “I <3 my Geek" t-shirt is a safe bet (and you can get it for men or women). And what’s more, you can get $10 off orders of $40 or more by using the code “PLAYER2.” D’aww!
Penny Arcade is also having a sale, albeit a small one. Their two shirts with hearts on them are on sale for $14 (see what they did there?) – the Heartris and Life tees.
Looking for something a little more unique? The geeks over at The Daily What featured an amazing Valentines For Nerd Love Of The Day with some awesome 8-bit cards for sale at Paper Rock Scisorz’ Etsy Page. This one is totally my favorite:

All future Fallout: New Vegas DLC hitting PC, PS3, Xbox 360 at the same time
Bethesda has revealed that Fallout: New Vegas‘ “Dead Money” expansion will be available for the PC and PS3 on February 22.
Dead Money was originally released as a limited time exclusive on the Xbox Live Marketplace back in December.
While Dead Money’s PC/PS3 release is good news, the better news is that the publisher has revealed they have three additional downloadable expansions planned for New Vegas. And they’ll be released simultaneously on the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.

First Battlefield 3 trailer reveals Fall 2011 release date
One day after canceling Battlefield 1943, DICE has released the first trailer for the upcoming Battlefield 3. Not only that, but they’ve also announced a release window for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 shooter: Fall 2011.
Electronic Arts and DICE will be revealing more about Battlefield 3 at this year’s Game Developers Conference (February 28 – March 4). But be sure to check out the trailer above in the meantime, it’s pretty intense.

Capcom Mobile brings Devil May Cry 4 (and Nero) from hell to iPhone
Since Devil May Cry 4‘s release four years ago, gamers have been looking for a new Devil May Cry game to sink their teeth into. (And no, I don’t mean THIS garbage.)
While their thirst won’t be completely quenched, Capcom Mobile has decided to throw a bargain their way. Not only is Devil May Cry 4 releasing on Apple’s App Store for iPhone and iPod Touch, it’s got a limited time launch price of $1.99. I mean, heck, I already OWN Devil May Cry 4 and I’m still considering it.
The game is available now with retina display graphics and GameCenter achievement support. No details regarding an iPad release have been announced.

Special unlock for early purchasers of Pokemon Black & White
Nintendo is on a mission: to make sure Pokemon Black Version and Pokemon White Version have as big of a launch as possible. To do it, they have announced today that anyone who purchases the fifth generation of Pokemon games from its March 6 release date up until April 10, 2011 will receive a Liberty Pass through Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. The pass allows them to catch the cute little guy pictured to the left (throwing up the V for Victory), the Mythical Pokemon Victini. The Victory Pokemon Victini is allegedly the first to be both Psychic and Fire-based (two of my favorite varieties in one) and has the Victory Star ability, which increases the accuracy of itself and other Pokemon the trainer is using in battle. This is actually a pretty great ace to have for some of the three-member battles being introduced in Pokemon Black & White.
Pokemon Black & White Versions add more than 150 new pocket monsters to the Pokedex and will be available in the U.S. on March 6, 2011 for $34.99 on the Nintendo DS.

Dragon Age II demo coming February 22
Bioware and EA have announced today that a special demo for the highly anticipated Dragon Age II will be coming to PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 on February 22, 2011. Players will choose one of three classes and play through the prologue, learning more about the new protagonist Hawke. The demo then progresses to the new location of Kirkwall where they will meet the deadly smuggler and potential love interest Isabella. Completing the demo will unlock Hayder’s Razor, which grants additional health, mana, and combat abilities in the full retail version of the game. This seems to be a new promotional tool by EA, as the Bulletstorm demo also included unlocks for the full retail version upon completion.
Seems like a pretty sweet deal – sample the game and if you like it, here’s a bonus to use in the retail version. Dragon Age II is set to release on the PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 on March 11, 2011.
