Tekken 7 will be released for the Xbox One, PC, PS4 in Early 2017

Last year, Bandai Namco confirmed that Tekken 7 would be released for the PS4 and “other home consoles” in the near future. Today, the publisher has made it official and revealed the fighting game will make its debut on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC in Early 2017.

Developed under the supervision of Franchise Director Katsuhiro Harada, Tekken 7 will be powered by Unreal Engine 4 and feature a bevy of new characters such as Kazumi Mishima, Claudio, Josie, Shaheen, Katarina, Lucky Chloe, Gigas, and Street Fighter‘s Akuma. The home version of Tekken 7 will also include a Story Mode not found in the arcade edition.

“We’re excited to bring one of the most celebrated and hardcore competitive fighting games to the Xbox One and PC gaming audiences.” said Eric Hartness, the Vice President of Marketing at Bandai Namco Entertainment America. “Tekken 7 is poised to heat up the eSports scene and taking it to Xbox One and PC audiences will further expand the pool of talented competitive tournament players nationwide. With Tekken 7 we’re focused on electrifying the competitive fighting game tournament circuit with the hardest hitting Tekken game yet.”

To celebrate Tekken 7’s announcement, Bandai Namco will offer a free download of Tekken Tag Tournament 2 to all Xbox Live Gold subscribers from now until Tuesday, June 21, at 6:00 AM (Eastern Time). Tekken Tag 2 was originally released for the Xbox 360, but it is also playable on the Xbox One thanks to the console’s backwards compatibility features.

Another Horizon: Zero Dawn trailer revealed at E3 2016

During their 2016 E3 Press Conference, Sony once again demoed Guerrilla’s Horizon: Zero Dawn, showing the game’s heroine hunting mechanical hybrid animals. We also learned that the PS4 game features a conversation wheel, and that you can ride certain animals. Stealth kills, and a rather detailed weapon wheel also made an appearance in the trailer. The demo culminated in an intense battle with a very powerful creature. This is one I am definitely looking forward to.

Horizon: Zero Dawn was originally scheduled to be released this Fall, but Sony pushed it back to February 2017 a few days before E3 began.

The Last Guardian gets an October 25, 2016 release date

In what has become a Sony E3 tradition, we were treated to yet another trailer for The Last Guardian, the publisher’s very own Duke Nukem Forever. But this time, we finally have a release date. The Last Guardian will officially launch for the PlayStation 4 on October 25, 2016.

In the meantime, check out the E3 2016 trailer above.

Days Gone announced by Bend Studio at E3 2016

The next title in Sony’s cavalcade of game announcements at E3 2016 was Days Gone for the PS4. The title looks to be a post-apocalyptic game set largely in the wilderness, and your character is a motorcycle-riding bounty hunter who, according to the narration, has quite the soft side.

Later during the conference, Sony Bend live-demoed the game. The main character salvages parts and gets into a fight with another survivor. A swarm of zombies/mutants appears and hunts down our hero. Hundreds of enemies on screen at once. Very intense. Reminds me of 28 Days Later, but see for yourself.

First God of War 4 footage shown by Sony at E3 2016

Sony started their E3 Press Conference with a bang this year by showing off footage from the next entry in the God of War franchise. Previously known as God of War 4, we might be heading for reboot territory as the PS4 game was announced as just “God of War.”

In the trailer, Kratos appears to be in retirement and teaching his son how to hunt, when they are set upon by a group of creatures. Although much older, Kratos shows that he’s still got it. The game also appears to take on the much-rumored Norse mythology, as opposed to the Greek mythology of past God of War games.

Enjoy the trailer.

Bethesda’s Todd Howard confirms The Elder Scrolls 6 is in development… but it is “a very long way off”

Back in February, Bethesda’s Todd Howard revealed that his team is hard at work on three unannounced projects. More specifically, Howard said they were “big and crazy” projects that would still be recognizable as “Bethesda-style games.”

Today, the Studio Director sat down with Geoff Keighley for an E3 2016 interview and confirmed that one of those projects is the long-awaited Elder Scrolls VI:

[Elder Scrolls 6] is kind of like the elephant in the room, always, when we talk about anything. And you know, I think it’s good in these moments to tell our fans yes, of course we are [working on it] – it’s something we love – but it is… you know, I have to be careful what I say, it’s a very long way off.

Howard continued by saying that Bethesda’s three projects are “bigger than everything we’ve done” and that the ideas they have for The Elder Scrolls VI probably couldn’t be done with today’s technology:

I could sit here and explain the game to you, and you would say, ‘That sounds like you don’t even have the technology. How long is that going to take?’ So it is something that’s going to take a lot of time, what he have in mind for that game, and we actually have two other large projects we’re also doing that are bigger than everything we’ve done. People will probably hear about those even before Elder Scrolls 6. That’ll make sense many years from now.

We think very long term. We’re not a developer that’s going to rush something like this out. When you think about what is the future of that kind of game, we have a pretty good idea of what that’s going to be, and it’s just going to take technology and time we don’t necessarily have right now.

Last night, Howard also revealed that Bethesda is working on an Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

Gears of War’s General RAAM officially joins Killer Instinct this week

You know, it’s possible that Gears of War‘s General RAAM has been rumored to be joining Killer Instinct Season 3 for about as long as Donald Trump has been running for President. But just like Trump eventually captured the Republican nomination, so too has General RAAM been officially added to the Xbox One and PC fighting game.

Rukari Austin, Killer Instinct’s Community Manager, delivered the good news during Microsoft’s E3 Press Conference and on the Xbox Wire:

Brandishing his wickedly brutal blade, and wielding innate control of the carnivorous Kryll, General RAAM – military leader of the Locust Horde – is sure to strike fear into the heart of any opponent. Unleash heavy punishing attacks, brutal blade combos, and command Kryll swarms for offense or defense. Locust Queen Myrrah’s personal champion is sure to provide a challenge to all comers…

Like every other Killer Instinct fighter, General RAAM can be purchased as part of the Season 3 Combo Breaker Bundle ($19.99), Season 3 Ultra Edition Bundle ($39.99), or the 3-Season Supreme Edition ($59.99). The character can also be purchased as a standalone download for $4.99, but all Killer Instinct fans will first get to try him out for free this week.

Bethesda delivers more than 20 minutes of Dishonored 2 gameplay at E3 2016

Strap in, because Bethesda had a lot to say about Dishonored 2 during their E3 Press Conference last night.

Dishonored 2 will be available on November 11 for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One. And because it’s less than five months away, Co-Creative Director Harvey Smith had a lot to say about it. That includes stopping by Bethesda.net to offer up plenty of details about the game’s coastal setting:

While Dishonored 2 begins and ends in Dunwall – the bleak industrial city of the first game – most of the action takes place in Karnaca, often referred to as the Jewel of the South. The capital of Serkonos – which is the southernmost island in the Empire – Karnaca is a dazzling Mediterranean-inspired metropolis with distinctly different culture and style.

Players will be able to experience the story of Dishonored 2 as either Corvo Attano (Stephen Russell) or the grownup Emily Kaldwin (Erica Luttrell). But both characters will meet a wide range of allies and enemies including Vincent D’Onofrio (Luca Abele, Duke of Serkonis), Rosario Dawson (Meagan Foster, Captain of the Dreadful Wale), Jamie Hector (Vice Overseer Liam Byrne), Pedro Pascal (Paolo, leader of the Howler gang), Sam Rockwell (Mortimer Ramsey of the Dunwall City Watch), and Robin Lord Taylor (The Outsider).

Bethesda also confirmed that Corvo and Emily will learn several new abilities, and fight their way through Themed Missions such as the time-bending “A Crack in the Slab” and the shifting walls and floors of “The Clockwork Mansion” (which was originally seen in the E3 2015 trailer).

For a more in-depth look at Dishonored 2, I recommend watching the 20-minute gameplay demo, which is available after the break. (more…)
