Weekly Warp-Up: PAX Prime 2014 Edition
No, that’s not a typo. Welcome to the Weekly Warp-Up, your weekly wrap-up of the biggest and the best articles posted at Warp Zoned this week…
The 2014 PAX Prime convention is in full swing, so if you’re in Seattle you’re probably reading this from the show floor. And here’s some of the things you could be seeing today and tomorrow:
Deep Silver has Escape Dead Island, Dead Island 2, and Metro Redux available to play on the show floor, as well as Volition’s Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell and Saints Row IV: Re-Elected, which were announced on Friday. Speaking of crazy shooters, Harmonix is showcasing A City Sleeps, their new music-based shooter. Sony has more than 30 PS4 and Vita games to play at their booth. And Telltale Games has given the public their first taste of Tales From the Borderlands. Finally, The Behemoth has unveiled Game 4, and yes, the spider woman-cupcake is present and accounted for.
In non-PAX news, we’ve posted a pair of reviews this week for your perusal, Scram Kitty and His Buddy On Rails and The Amazing Spider-Man 2. And Andrew Rainnie continues his look at the state of the Wii U by asking if it’s worth it Bringing Ubisoft’s U Back to the Wii U.
More news from the week that was can be found after the break. (more…)

New Releases: The Sims 4, Danganronpa 2, Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate

The Summer is over (more or less) and it’s time for the Fall gaming avalanche, but don’t expect a big batch of new releases just yet. That said, this week’s big releases include…
- The Sims 4 (PC), the latest game in EA’s super-popular people simulator franchise will be available in a Premium Edition (with extra goodies) and a standard edition (which EA is calling a Limited Edition for some reason).
- Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair (Vita), the second anime-esque murder mystery set inside a high school will be available just in time for the first day of school.
- Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate (PS4 and Xbox One), Koei Tecmo’s latest Dynasty Warriors/Samurai Warriors gets expanded and re-released for next-gen consoles.
That’s it for now, but Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft have plans to digitally release a bunch of games to fight over your gaming dollar as well this week.

PopCap Games has announced that the pinballing puzzles of Peggle 2 will ricochet their way onto the PlayStation 4 on October 14:
It's official!
We're excited to announce that Peggle 2 is coming to the PlayStation 4 on October 14th! pic.twitter.com/GFYAeNDNZX
— Peggle (@PeggleOfficial) August 29, 2014
After launching for the Xbox One in December, PopCap released Peggle 2 for the Xbox 360 this past May. PC, PS3, and mobiles release are likely planned for some point down the road, but PopCap has yet to announce when Peggle 2 will debut on those platforms.
The Behemoth’s Game 4 is a strategy game… here’s the first trailer
We still don’t know what The Behemoth’s Game 4 will actually be called, but the developer has confirmed it’ll take the form of a hex-based strategy RPG. With narration by Will Stamper (he did BattleBlock Theater too) and The Behemoth’s trademark art style, it will also likely be a strategy game like no one’s ever seen before.
For proof, just check out the PAX Prime trailer above (the previously revealed spider-woman shows up at 0:19). Game 4 is in development for the PC and Xbox One and will be released… someday.

The standalone expansion will be released for the PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One on January 27, 2015… and yes, you will be able to shoot The Devil in the face:

Gone Home leads Nintendo’s upcoming slate of Wii U and 3DS eShop releases

Fullbright’s award-winning Gone Home will be coming home to the Wii U (via the Wii U eShop) this Fall. That’s rather fitting as a stash of Super NES games play a small part in the game’s plot. Gone Home is just one of more than three dozen games that Nintendo plans to add to the eShop through the end of the year and into early 2015.
Other highlights include the announcement that Slightly Mad’s Project CARS will be available exclusively through the Wii U eShop sometime in 2015 and that Renegade Kid has three 3DS games planned for this Fall: Treasurenauts, Xeodrifter, and Moon Chronicles: Episode 2.
Nintendo’s complete eShop release calendar for the next six months (or so) can be found after the break. (more…)
