Daily Scoop: July 16, 2014 – Another day, another deal
We’ve made it to the middle of the week, everyone! And to celebrate, let’s get some games on the cheap, shall we? You can start over at the Humble Store, where they’ve got Blade Symphony for $7.49, The Nightmare Cooperative for $8.99, and Abyss Odyssey for $9.99.
From there, you can head over to Steam for their new Daily Deal, which is Magicite for $4.99, and their Midweek Madness deal, which is Tomb Raider for $4.99. I’ve been waiting for that one to go on an absurd sale – this might be when I finally buy it!
For your last stop, hit up Indie Royale, where they have their latest bundle up, “Blasting Off.” Pay the current minimum for Rogue Shooter: The FPS Roguelike, Echo of the Wilds, Talisman Digital Edition, Terrorhedron, and Swipecard.
And now, time for t-shirts!

Adam West will play himself in Lego Batman 3

Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham will launch Batman (and the rest of the Justice League) into outer space for an intergalactic adventure against Brainiac. And it looks like they’re bringing Adam West with them:
Holy LEGO mini figures, Batman. It's Adam West! #LEGOBatmanGame #SDCC pic.twitter.com/QuqybSJ46J
— LEGO Batman (@LEGOBatmanGame) July 15, 2014
The official Twitter account for the Lego Batman game series posted this image yesterday, confirming that West will actually be playing himself in the sequel. Let’s hope he feels the need to ask the Caped Crusader, “Why doesn’t Batman dance anymore?”
We’ll likely get a sneak peek of West’s contribution to the game during TT Games’ Lego Batman 3 panel at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con (Sunday, July 27 at 1:00 PM). West will be a busy man during this year’s Comic-Con as he’ll also be promoting the upcoming Blu-ray/DVD release of the 1960s Batman television series in a panel on Thursday, July 24. How does he do it? Pure… West…
Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham will be available for the 3DS, PC, PS3, PS4, Vita, Wii U, Xbox 360, and Xbox One this Fall.
Crimsonland, Abyss Odyssey, One Piece Unlimited World Red added to PS Store
It looks the Summer drought has even effected the PlayStation Store as only three games are new to the digital storefront this week:
- Crimsonland (PS4), a twin-stick shooter that promises “hundreds of aliens, giant spiders, mutant lizards, and more.”
- Abyss Odyssey (PS3), a side-scrolling action game developed by ACE Team and published by Atlus.
- One Piece Unlimited World Red, the Vita version of the latest game adaptation of the popular anime/manga.
More information about all three games can be found after the break. And a full rundown of this week’s new game add-ons can be found at the PlayStation Blog. (more…)
Daily Scoop: July 15, 2014 – More games added to the Humble 2K Bundle
The Humble 2K Bundle was already pretty good, but they just sweetened the deal even more! Pay what you want for BioShock, The Bureau: XCOM Declassified, and The Darkness II. Pay more than $8.02 to unlock BioShock 2, Mafia II, Spec Ops: The Line, and the recently added X-COM: Complete Pack. Pay more than $20 and get two of their best games, XCOM: Enemy Unknown and BioShock Infinite. That’s a lot of games!
Other than that, the Daily Deal at Steam is Strider for $8.99 (which is currently free for PS+ users!), and their Midweek Madness is early access to Edge of Space for $5.84. Scoop ’em up!
Let’s see what the t-shirts are for today…

Mass Effect 4 panel planned for Comic-Con 2014

It looks like we’re going to learn a bit more about Mass Effect 4 at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. Developers from BioWare Edmonton and BioWare Montreal will be on hand to discuss the “expansion” of the game’s universe:
Mass Effect developers from the Edmonton and Montreal studios discuss what it’s like to expand on a well-established and beloved video game franchise. Panelists Carl Boulay (lead animator), Fabrice Condominas (producer), Mike Gamble (producer), Noel Lukasewich (senior artist), and Jessica Merizan (community manager), share their experiences in shaping the next Mass Effect game with new possibilities while staying true to the critically acclaimed series. Moderated by Nerdist.com.
The panel, “Charting a Course: Developing the Next Mass Effect,” will be held on Saturday, July 26 at 2:00 PM (Pacific Time). Better get in line now.

Sting will make his WWE debut in WWE 2K15 as a pre-order bonus
Sting, the face of the WCW in the 90s, will make his WWE debut in this Fall’s WWE 2K15. Players who pre-order the game will actually receive two different versions of Sting, representing two distinct eras of his career:
One of the most popular and revered competitors in WCW history, Sting will be featured in WWE 2K15 through two unique playable characters: the mysterious, ghost-like persona with trademark black and white face paint who was the face of WCW during the “Monday Night War” era, as well as his earlier look, sporting bright colors and a blond, flattop hairstyle
Sting had been a part of Total Nonstop Action Wrestling since 2003, but appeared in a WWE production in April to honor Ultimate Warrior. It’s unknown when he’ll make his in-ring debut during a WWE show.
WWE 2K15 will be released for the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One on October 28.
Pharrell Williams will curate the NBA 2K15 soundtrack
I’d like to believe that the timing of this announcement is because someone in 2K’s press relations department has a sense of humor.
2K Games has announced that Pharrell Williams will “curate” the NBA 2K15 soundtrack. Previously, this job has gone to LeBron James (NBA 2K14) and Jay-Z (NBA 2K13). Pharrell is best known for unleashing “Happy” on the world as well as singing background vocals on Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines” and producing Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky.”
“It was a cool experience. I tried to curate songs that were diverse but yet still proved to be motivational to gamers,” said Pharrell. “It was important to me that the music complemented the on-court action of NBA basketball in NBA 2K15. I hope everyone enjoys it.”
Pharrell’s NBA 2K15 soundtrack will be revealed later this Summer, but in a wonderful bit of synergy, “Weird Al” Yankovic released his latest album, Mandatory Fun, today. In addition to making “Blurred Lines” 100% less rapey with “Word Crimes,” Yankovic turns “Happy” into “Tacky” and he enlisted Aisha Tyler, Margaret Cho, Eric Stonestreet, Kristen Schaal and Jack Black to help with the video. It’s a thing of beauty.
I’m sure Pharrell’s NBA 2K15 soundtrack will be just as interesting when the game is released for the PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One on October 7. Um… maybe not.
Daily Scoop: July 14, 2014 – The Humble Flash Re-Bundle
This weekend, I didn’t play many video games at all, much to my surprise! I headed up to my friend’s cabin out in the Poconos and did a lot of swimming, eating, sleeping, and sitting in the sun. It was absolutely amazing. I brought some games and books but barely even looked at them. I was too busy making s’mores and putting on bug spray! Oh, and sliding down Slip ‘N Slides. I guess technically avoiding bugs could be construed as a game, right?
Anyway, it’s back to reality today, and with that is a Daily Scoop! There’s a new bundle over at Humble today, and it’s the The Humble Flash Re-Bundle: Codemasters. Pay what you want for Overlord, Overlord: Raising Hell DLC, Operation Flashpoint: Red River, Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising, and Rise of the Argonauts. Pay $6 or more to unlock DiRT Showdown, DiRT 3, and Overlord II. This one will be gone in just 24 hours, so you might want to jump on it fast!
Steam is having a sale called From Paris with Games, which is a sale on all games made in Paris. Grab Blood Bowl: Chaos Edition for $7.50, Remember Me for $10.19, and ShootMania Storm for $4.99, among others.
And now, time for some t-shirts!
