Star Wars, Marvel characters may be added to Disney Infinity in the future
“Series 1” of Disney Infinity is very focused focus on the studio’s animated efforts. Most of the figures announced so far have been pulled from the worlds of Toy Story, Monsters Inc., The Incredibles, and Cars. But the Skylanders-like game also has a “real world” side represented by characters from Pirates of the Caribbean. And much like Jack Sparrow’s search for rum, many Disney fans have asked of Infinity… “Where’s Marvel and Star Wars?”
According a GamesIndustry International interview with Bill Roper, General Manager at Disney Interactive, there’s a chance that the Marvel universe and a galaxy far, far away could find their way into Infinity:
“”I think the beauty of something like Infinity is that it’s a platform that we’re building. So we don’t try to be coy about it – we’ve done a lot of work about identifying the properties that we felt would really make the platform sing at launch, but I never discount any possibilities with the vast array of characters and worlds that we can tap into across the company,” Roper said. He later singled out Star Wars as a possibility: “[The Star Wars acquisition] was definitely exciting when that [news] came down from within the company. We love the potential for Infinity – we always joke, well, ‘the possibilities are infinite’.”
While that’s far from confirmation, the Disney brass are clearly thinking about it. And with the extensive film schedule the company has planned for the Star Wars saga and the Avengers: Phase Two initiative, I think it makes perfect business sense to add characters from Marvel and Star Wars to Infinity sometime down the road (perhaps Summer 2015… when both The Avengers 2 and Star Wars: Episode VII hit theaters).
The Disney Infinity “Starter Pack” will be available for the 3DS, PS3, Wii, Wii U, and Xbox 360 on August 18.
Barry Sanders is your Madden NFL 25 cover athlete
The votes have been tallied and the fans have spoken… Barry Sanders, former running back for the Detroid Lions, has been chosen as the cover athlete for Madden NFL 25. The Hall of Famer absolutely destroyed his competition, Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson, and collected 58% of the vote.
In all, 700,241 votes were cast in the final round and more than 40,000,000 were cast throughout the entire tournament. It was an uphill climb for most of the “New School” players and even a final round matchup featuring today’s top running back felt like a lost cause. Of course, that’s what happens when you go up against the greatest running back of all time.
To celebrate the choosing of this year’s cover athlete, EA Sports has released the first Madden NFL 25 gameplay trailer, which you can find after the break. Nadden NFL 25 will be released for the PS3 and Xbox 360 on August 27. (more…)

The first The Evil Within screenshots and details are within
Last week, Bethesda announced that the legendary Shinji Mikami is working on the upcoming survival horror title The Evil Within. Yesterday more details about the game plus some frightful screenshots of the title has been revealed.
In The Evil Within you play as Detective Sebastian Castellanos, he comes across unnatural forces around an asylum and, after being knocked unconscious, Sebastian wakes up in a world where monsters really do exist.
Speaking to IGN earlier this week, Mikami-San spoke of his desire to bring back the survival horror genre saying, “[T]he thing that I want to focus on [with The Evil Within] is having the perfect balance between horror and action.” He also spoke about how having limited ammo brings excitement to the game and he mentioned the game will lack heavy weapons like assault rifles to blast through your foes.
The Evil Within releases in 2014 on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC, and “next-generation consoles.” You can check out the first screenshots after the break. (more…)
Monaco’s XBLA release has been delayed
Monaco, the stylish co-op caper game from Pocketwatch Games, was originally supposed to be available on the Xbox Live Arcade today. Instead, an unforeseen issue has caused the game to be delayed.
This notice was posted on the game Facebook Page yesterday:
We just discovered that there is an issue which requires that we push back our Xbox Live arcade game release date a little. We’ve already submitted an update to Microsoft to fix the problem, and as soon as we know that the issue is fixed we’ll have a new release date. I know our fans have been waiting a long time for the game, and hopefully they’ll have the patience to wait just a little while longer. What’s mine will be yours very, very soon!
If you’re still interested in playing Monaco today, the PC version was released as scheduled.
Next Xbox will be unveiled on May 21
Microsoft just sent out an email to all Xbox Live members announcing that a date for the Xbox 720/Durango reveal has been set.
Touting “A New Generation Revealed,” Microsoft has confirmed that the presentation will take place on Tuesday, May 21 at 10 AM (Pacific Time). Gamers will be able to watch the unveiling themselves at Xbox.com, on Spike TV, or through Xbox Live.
Per Major Nelson, a more complete reveal, including the “full lineup of blockbuster games,” will take place at E3 2013.

XBLA Today: Poker Night 2
Telltale’s PC-exclusive Poker Night at the Inventory was a strange little game that brought together Max (of Sam and Max), Tycho (of Penny Arcade), Strong Bad, and The Heavy (from Team Fortress 2) for a round of poker and a side order of hijinks. So why not do it again?
Poker Night 2 is available to download from the Xbox Live Arcade today for 800 Microsoft Points ($10) and its cast of characters is bother odder and more normal at the same time. This time, Telltale has hired GLaDOS as The Inventory’s new dealer as Max’s partner Sam, Claptrap (the Borderlands series), Brock Samson (The Venture Bros.), and… I almost can’t believe it… Ash (The Evil Dead trilogy) ante up for a second round of Texas Hold ‘Em (or Omaha Hold ‘Em).
The chips are down and the ante is up in this sentence already bursting with poker clichés! Take the fifth seat in Poker Night 2, at a table featuring Claptrap (Borderlands 2), Brock Samson (The Venture Bros.), Ash (Army of Darkness) and Sam (Sam and Max series). So play to win because winning unlocks unique skins and heads to use in Borderlands 2 and exclusive avatar items! Rumor: Batman: Arkham Origins to have a multiplayer mode
According to reports on Kotaku, the third instalment of the Arkham series, Batman: Arkham Origins, will include a multiplayer mode which will allow players to take on the role of the game’s villains.
Kotaku says that “two independent sources” contacted them, of which one of them had contacted them before with some “pre-reveal tips” about the game that proved to be accurate.
The report states that you will take control of Bane’s and the Joker’s goons. In at least one of the multiplayer modes, players will be given the task of killing The Dark Knight and his sidekick, Robin. The villains said to be included in the multiplayer mode are Killer Croc, Deadshot, Firefly, Black Mask, Deathstroke, and “some kind of Electroman character” – who will possibly end up to be revealed as Electocutioner.
Batman: Arkham Origins will will swoop down for the Wii U, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC on October 25.
Thomas Was Alone, Dead Island: Riptide, Star Trek, more added to PS Store
Another big day for the PlayStation Store as indie platformer Thomas Was Alone, zombie melee-er Dead Island: Riptide, and movie tie-in Star Trek are now available to purchase with your download dollars. Like the rest of the games in Sony’s Spring Fever promotion, Thomas Was Alone is a Cross-Buy title, meaning you’ll be able to pick up the PSN and Vita versions in the same download.
Also available this week is Ubisoft’s World War II dogfighter, Blazing Angels 2: Secret Missions of WWII; the latest game in the Soul Calibur series, Soul Calibur V; Capcom’s standalone Dragon’s Dogma expansion, Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen; and the retro shooter God Mode.
Finally this week, Sony has added a pair of Vita games, the ninja-riffic Draw Slasher and the ridiculously titled Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R… I mean, seriously now… there are four extra modifiers in that title. Even Capcom won’t go that far.
