Daily Scoop: March 26, 2013 – Back from PAX East

PAX East flew by like a whirlwind! It felt like one long day – everything just blurred into everything else. We have some great interviews and hands-on previews to share with all of you! I wish I’d had more time to see everything, but three days that feel like one day just isn’t enough time to get it all done.

Speaking of not enough time, there’s a Gold Box Event happening now at Amazon that is all video games! The deal of the day is Tomb Raider, which is $41.99 on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 and $34.99 on PC. The rest of the deals, which aren’t very well described, are:

Daily Scoop: March 20, 2013 – Freaking out

I don’t think I’m even coherent anymore at this point. There’s so much to do before we leave for Boston tomorrow! At least I’ll be busy all night so the time will fly. We’ll be heading up before I know it! It’s so close I can practically taste it. It tastes like AWESOME!

There are no deals today. I would say hurry up and get on your pre-orders, but if you haven’t pre-ordered BioShock Infinite yet, what on earth are you waiting for?

Fear not – I do have some video game shirts for you, though! Check these bad boys out: (more…)

Daily Scoop: March 19, 2013 – So much excitement!

As the clock ticks down and we get closer and closer to PAX East, I can hardly contain my excitement! Last night I had to run around and get a bunch of errands done, and I’m a little overwhelmed that I only have another day and a half before I’m on my way to Boston. Aieeeeeeee I can’t wait!

Amazon’s having a one day Lego game sale today. You can get Lego Lord of the Rings for $29.99 on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, $19.99 on the Wii, and $14.99 on PC. Also, as if getting $30 for pre-ordering the digital version of BioShock Infinite wasn’t awesome enough, the pot’s been sweetened to include a free digital copy of XCOM: Enemy Unknown as well. PC players, get on it!

Lots of great video game t-shirts again today: (more…)

Daily Scoop: March 18, 2013 – Surviving St. Patrick’s Day

Truly, the only surefire way to survive St. Patrick’s Day is not to leave the house, under any circumstances. Unfortunately, I had to leave the house yesterday, as my family was celebrating my birthday… in New Jersey. I’m glad to say that, despite being outside at several different times, at no point did I witness too much green clothing, gratuitous drunkenness, or any vomit. At all. I was impressed.

There are plenty of new deals up on Amazon’s game deals page. Diablo III, Dishonored, and NBA 2K13 are all $39.99. Doom 3 BFG Edition is $19.99 on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 and $9.99 on PC, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion – Game of the Year Edition is $12.49 on PC. And let’s not forget the Angry Birds Trilogy, which is $19.99 on the 3DS, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. Scoop ’em up!

No scoop would be complete without some video game-themed t-shirts! (more…)

Daily Scoop: March 15, 2013 – The Ides of March

Beware the Ides of March! Or so everyone is saving all over the Internet. I guess just be careful not to get stabbed in the back? Literally, not metaphorically. So maybe don’t go out tonight – or at least, don’t go out with that friend who’s been acting strange lately. Your best bet is to just stay inside and play a video game. It’s too cold outside, anyway!

The good news is: it’s the weekend! What are your big plans? We’re playing some Dungeons & Dragons tonight, then I have family stuff all weekend, interspersed with gaming, writing, and finishing up this class.

No deals going on today! But you can check out the sweet pre-order page for Disney Inifinity. I can’t stand the cuteness!

Let’s round this out with some t-shirts, shall we? (more…)

Daily Scoop: March 14, 2013 – Happy Pi day!

It’s 3/14, and you know what that means: math geeks everywhere are cracking jokes! But all that number does is make me think of “Life of Pi,” one of my favorite books and a fantastic movie. I wonder if that would make a good video game? I imagine it would be nothing but QuickTime Events!

I’ve got good news as well: I got an A on my grant proposal! This is easily the most intimidating project I’ve ever had to deal with – I’ve been dreading it since I first heard about it when I started the program. But now it’s over, and I’m so relieved it’s almost palpable! I just have a few more things to do for this class and then I’m done, done, done, and well on my way to PAX East! What better way to celebrate than that?

Not really very many deals going on today, unless you have a burning desire to own the Aliens Colonial Marines Collector’s Edition which is $30 off – it’s now $69.99 down from $99.99. Scoop it up, I guess! If you desperately need that Powerloader figurine, this is the collector’s edition for you!

And now, t-shirts! (more…)

Daily Scoop: March 13, 2013 – Don’t think about PAX East

PAX East is nearly upon is! It’s just a little over a week away. Right now, I’m in one of those situations where the more you think about something, the further away it seems to get. The anticipation is killing me!

Amazon has a bunch of pre-order bonuses for those of you itching to slap your money down on some games that aren’t out yet. Get a $20 promotional credit with Army of Two The Devil’s Cartel. BioShock Infinite comes with a whole bunch of stuff, but if you order the PC download, you get a $30 promotional credit. If you order Injustice: Gods Among Us, you get a $10 promotional credit. Pre-order Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate for 3DS and Wii U and save $20.

Not interested in pre-orders? You can also get Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two for $14.97 on the Wii, and you can save $15 on “The Hobbit” if you buy Lego Lord of the Rings. Scoop ’em up!

And, as always, some t-shirts: (more…)

Daily Scoop: March 12, 2013 – Tut tut, looks like rain

What a lousy day it is here in Philadelphia! It’s pouring rain with no sunshine in sight… and no end in sight, either. It’s the perfect weather for video games!

There are lots of digital deals going on at Amazon this week. Champion Pack: Victory: The Age of Racing is on sale for $2.99 from $14.99, and the Days of Wonder Ticket to Ride Complete Pack is only $6.49 from $24.95. Already got the game and just want the DLC packs? Those are on sale for $3.79. Looking for the biggest bang for your buck? That would be the Enormous .EMU Pack, on sale for $9.99 from $91.98.
