Wow! My life has kind of been taken over by Sleeping Dogs. I am kind of getting used to being recognized as a big-time member of the Chinese mafia, which is probably not a good thing in real life. I don’t think it’s going to get me a free frappuccino or anything.

No deals today! Sorry. It’s Friday. No one cares. Everyone just wants to go home! Especially me, as I’ll be on vacation for 10 days straight once this day is over. Booya!

Daily Scoop: August 23, 2012 – A lovely day for gaming

It’s a gorgeous day today, and would be spent perfectly indoors playing video games with the windows open, perhaps with a frosty beverage at hand and a fuzzy, sleepy kitty on your lap. Alas, it is also a Thursday, which means work is where most of us are. Sigh…

Daily Scoop: August 22, 2012 – Encounters!

A new Dungeons and Dragons Encounter season begins tonight! We go deep into the Underdark to Menzoberranzan, where drow wait with their mystery and intrigue. Intrigue us, foul creatures! We demand it. I’ll be one of the Dungeon Masters this season, which is exciting and terrifying at the same time. The last time I tried to DM was when I was a teenager playing second edition. I didn’t want to have to do the math for the weight of carrying rations, so I made the priest in the group pray for a Sizzler to appear whenever they got hungry.

True story.

Anyway, nothing really in the way of deals today. I mean, you can troll Amazon for bonus offers and discounts and stuff like I do every day, or you can spend your life donating to awesome Kickstarters instead. You have the power.

Daily Scoop: August 21, 2012 – Board games

Another Tuesday, another board game night. Tonight we’re going to try out Blood Bowl Team Manager again, and possibly play some Bang. I also just got my copy of The Last Story, so we’ll see if that wins out over Sleeping Dogs. Oh, and Ryan Littlefield scored me an extra Gamecube controller, and my dear boyfriend Anthony has been talking a lot of trash about Mario Kart: Double Dash. Decisions, decisions…

Daily Scoop: August 20, 2012 – Weekends are never long enough

If my life were a James Bond film, that would be the title: Weekends are never long enough. It’s the sad truth, friends! They’re always packed to the gill these days, with awards ceremonies, and family stuff, and Sleeping Dogs, and homework. I can’t wait for this term to be over! Oh, and also, mega huge congratulations goes out to Tristin Hightower for winning Geek of the Year at Friday’s Philly Geek Awards! She deserved every moment of that standing ovation.

Daily Scoop: August 17, 2012 – Philly Geek Awards

And the day has finally arrived! It’s the day of the Philly Geek Awards, for which the town is very excited. I even got a fancy new haircut for it! It should be an exciting night – a few very good friends are up for awards, and I’m hoping they win them all! Especially the awesome Tristin Hightower, who is up for Geek of the Year. It’s a great night to be a geek in this awesome town!

Daily Scoop: August 16, 2012 – What’s the deal?

Hey there, friends! It’s a beautiful day here in Philadelphia. It’s not supposed to rain, or so I’ve been told, so here’s hoping it doesn’t. But it is supposed to rain tomorrow, when the geeks take over the Academy of Natural Sciences for the Philly Geek Awards. It rained last year, so maybe that’s the theme, or something! Who knows. Either way, rained-on geeks are still happy geeks!

What’s going on in the world of deals today? Amazon’s got a great deal on PSP games, which includes Final Fantasy II for $5.25. I don’t think you heard me. I said FF II for $5.25! That’s an amazing deal. Please scoop that up!

Daily Scoop: August 15, 2012 – Playkachu

Well, yesterday was a wonderful day! I got to play three board games I’d never played before last night – Race for the Galaxy, Blood Bowl Team Manager, and Heap. They were all pretty fun! I had a blast. My lovely boyfriend is taking me out to dinner sometime this week to celebrate our anniversary as well. I don’t mind celebrations that last a week long, for sure!

What’s up with deals today? Well, just one, and it’s really for those of you who have been waiting on a deal with the PlayStation Vita. It’s not a price drop on the Vita, but it’s enticing. It’s at Amazon, and it’s a deal to buy a PS Vita, get Mortal Kombat and a 4GB memory card free. Not too shabby! Though a price drop would be pretty nice…
