Daily Scoop: April 23, 2011 – PSN outage edition
Looking forward to a day catching up on Uncharted 2‘s multiplayer while earning triple cash? Me too! Except the PlayStation Network is down, thanks to an “external intrusion.” Thanks a lot, jerks! I guess now I’ll just have to read a book or something. Gosh.
At least hackers can’t stop the signal deals, which include today’s Amazon Deal of the Day in video games: Anarchy Enterprises’ Hide & Secret 3: Pharaoh’s Quest for the PC. This game download is $1.98 down from $9.99, and lets you “Return Stolen Treasures,” “Solve Challenging And Deadly Puzzles,” “Reunite Ancient Spirits,” and “Unlock The Secrets Of Eternity.” That’s some Indiana Jones speak right there!
We’ve also got a cool game-related t-shirt today, which is Tee Fury‘s “Peace in Space:”
I guess now that there’s peace in space, Space Ghost will have to go back to his wife, Bjork.

Daily Scoop: April 22, 2011 – Happy Earth Day!
It’s Earth Day, yay! Celebrate Earth Day by planting a tree, getting a free cup of coffee at Starbucks, or performing a fatality on one of your friends. My Earth Day celebrations will include trying to solve puzzles with a portal gun and considering baking a cake. Which one of those was a lie?
Today’s Amazon Deal of the Day in video games is Sega of America’s Football Manager 2011 for the PC and Mac. It’s half price at $19.99. If you picked up Madden NFL 11 yesterday and you think maybe you need to up your managerial skills, this sounds like the right kind of deal for you!
Nothing worth noting on the daily t-shirt circuit today, but I did find this gem over at Shirtoid:
It features Chell as the patron saint of portals, and goes well with all the other references we’ve made to Valve’s super hit this week.

Daily Scoop: April 21, 2011 – Are you ready for some…football?
It’s a quiet Thursday. Most people are still recovering from Tuesday’s explosion of games, while others are getting restless and running around outside in the beautiful weather. Some of us are still on the hunt for good deals, though!
I’m afraid there’s not much to share with you today. All I’ve really got is the Amazon Deal of the Day in video games, which is EA’s Madden NFL 11. It’s $29.99 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, $19.99 for the Wii, and $9.99 for the PlayStation 2. This is a great deal, so pick this up if you like football games!
Nothing on the t-shirt front, unless you want to go to a Jawa Keg Party:
LOL!

Daily Scoop: April 20, 2011 – Portal 2 hangover
I don’t know about you, but I’ve got a ferocious gaming hangover. And, much like a regular hangover, what I need is some hair of the dog to set me right. Going home and playing more Portal 2 is obviously the only way I’m going to feel better right now.
The world seems to be on a video game sale hangover as well. Today’s Amazon Deal of the Day in video games is Activision’s NASCAR The Game 2011. Both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions are $39.99 down from $59.99 today only.
There are no good daily t-shirts, and while there are lots of other sales this week, there’s really not much new to report. Not like anyone really needs anymore games after yesterday. Whew. I’m spent.

Daily Scoop: April 19, 2011 – The day our wallets cried
It’s finally here! Today marks the release of Mortal Kombat, Portal 2, and SOCOM 4: US Navy SEALs. Gamers everywhere are calling in sick, going home sick, and pulling sick moves to start in on these games. Some even braved midnight lines to pick up their copies early. Are you one of the fanatics? Tell us about your experiences in the comments!
Today is also a ridiculous day for deals. It’s another all video games Amazon Gold Box Event day, with the main course served up as Blizzard’s Starcraft II: The Wings of Liberty. Pick it up today for $39.99 down from $59.99. It promises to be “Fast-paced, hard-hitting, tightly balanced competitive real-time strategy gameplay that recaptures and improves on the original game.” Damn! Upcoming deals are:
- 6 AM PDT: Enter into the premier online role-playing experience (my guess is Rift!) WRONG! World of Warcraft Battle Chest for $17.99!
- 8 AM PDT: Don’t forget treats for your Mabari War Hound (hopefully this one’s Dragon Age II!) RIGHT! for just $39.95!
- 10 AM PDT: Pick up this Sony PS3 exclusive collectors edition (perhaps a little Killzone 3?) CORRECT! $59.99!
- 12 PM PDT: Hey man, nice Skillshot (Bulletstorm, anyone?) ding ding ding! $39.95!
- 2 PM PDT: After thirteen days of fates intertwined, the battle begins (Final Fantasy XIII for sure) Yup! $19.99!
- 4 PM PDT: Embark on epic quests and build your Kingdom (my completely wrong guess is White Knight Chronicles) Nope! The Sims Medieval for $29.99.
- 6 PM PDT: Unravel the mystery surrounding the origin of the KINGDOM HEARTS (wow, not even trying there, Birth by Sleep, amirite?) Winner at $19.99!
- 8 PM PDT: Get ready to take to the field (MLB ’11 or Major League Baseball 2K11?)
But wait…there’s more after the jump, including two awesome Portal 2-themed t-shirts! (more…)

Daily Scoop: April 18, 2011 – Almost Portal 2 time!
Portal 2 is coming out tomorrow!!! Holy crap! It’s been such a crazy long wait that it snuck up on me. It probably put a portal behind me and jumped through it and now it’s going to drop a companion cube on my head! Noooooo!!
Ahem. Excuse me. There are some good deals going on today – Amazon’s having what they’re calling Easter Savings in Video Games, which sounds sort of not all that politically correct. I mean, where are the Passover savings? I don’t judge, either way. The sale is one of those buy one, get one 50% off ones, and includes Lego Harry Potter and a bunch of other stuff. As for today’s Amazon Deal of the Day in video games, they’ve got a smorgasbord of Atlus games. Radiant Historia is $27.99, Demon’s Souls (with soundtrack!) is $15, and 3D Dot Game Heroes is $13.40. Don’t miss these awesome deals – these are games worth buying immediately if you don’t already own them.
No game-related t-shirts today, I’m afraid. I think the Internet wore itself out with the four t-shirts I posted about Saturday and Sunday. But I’m going to have a hard time not purchasing this one from Tee Fury:
Shiny!

Daily Scoop: April 17, 2011 – Scoop Sundae
Writing the Daily Scoop has made me really want ice cream – ice cream sundaes, to be specific. Something huge and gooey, with a warm brownie on the bottom, and maybe some hot fudge and whip cream on top. Maybe piled high with some raspberry chocolate truffle ice cream. YUM.
To start off the scoop, we’ve got Amazon’s sales on two Wii hardware bundles. Not to be outdone by the sale at Toys R Us, Amazon is offering the white Wii hardware bundle and the black Wii hardware bundle for $169.99 with free shipping. It’s looking more and more likely that is the Wii’s new official price.
Amazon’s also having a sale on portable accessories, including $5 off that awesome Nerf Armor for your DS. Add to that the Amazon Deal of the Day in video games, which is the Mionix Naos 5000 Laser Gaming Mouse for $64.99 down from $89.99. To sweeten the pot, there’s going to be an Amazon Gold Box Event in video games this Tuesday, so check back here for that!
Whew. Thank you, Amazon. And we’ve got ANOTHER day with two video game t-shirts, so hit the jump to see those! (more…)

Daily Scoop: April 16, 2011 – Special Portal 2 and gaming t-shirts edition
It’s raining here in Philadelphia, and I’m starting to think that it rains less in Seattle than it does here, because seriously, I haven’t gotten this much use out of my galoshes or umbrella in as long as I can remember. But that’s ok, because it’s an awesome day to sit around, write, and play video games. Oh, and shop for video game deals, of course!
First and foremost, Best Buy is having a sale on Portal 2. It’s $44.99 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and $34.99 on Mac and PC. Amazon is still offering the game for $54.99 with a $20 promotional credit, too. So you’ve got lots of options – that is, if you haven’t already pre-ordered it, and aren’t already waiting at the mailbox/lining up at your local brick-and-mortar store to wait for it. It’s not long now!
And let’s not forget today’s Amazon Deal of the Day in video games, which is Paradox Interactive’s Magicka for the PC. This game download is $4.99 down from $9.99, and features an “Innovative and dynamic spellcasting system” and supports up to four players. Neat!
There are two awesome t-shirts for sale today. Hit the jump to be super tempted into dropping some cash! (more…)
