Daily Scoop: December 11, 2013 – Who wants to play video games?

So I got a bunch of video games on sale during the crazy Black Friday deals, and now I have to decide which one to play. I’m already backlogged enough as it is, and started playing my other free/cheap games over the last few weeks, but now it’s serious. Oh, and as always, I have games to review. So where should I start? If you’ve got a game you think I should be playing, leave me a comment!

Speaking of games I am going to get despite having a massive backlog, the Humble Store has some great new stuff, including the just-released Samurai Gunn for $11.99. In case you don’t remember, Samurai Gunn was voted one of our Best of PAX Prime 2013, and is absolutely a must-have for your library. They’ve also got Forced on sale for $10.49, which is another game we really enjoyed from PAX. Check them out!

If you want even more deals, there are tons of game deals at Amazon right now. Pick up Scribblenauts Unlimited on 3DS for $11.99 or on Wii U for $19.99, Red Dead Redemption: GOTY Edition on Xbox 360 for $14.99, Dishonored: GOTY Edition on PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 for $29.99, or PixelJunk Monsters Ultimate on PC for $9.99. So many good deals!

Daily Scoop: December 10, 2013 – Snowy day!

It’s snowy here in Philadelphia – we’ve been getting a lot of the white stuff! It’s fantastic. It snowed all morning long, and now we’ve got a few inches everywhere, which I’m not complaining about. Sadly, it’s going to all freeze and turn into hazardous material soon, so please everyone get home safely, and play some video games!

There are some great digital deals happening over at Amazon right now. You can get the Max Payne Complete Pack for $10.99, which includes all three games. Or, if you have the first two, you can get Max Payne 3 for $6.79 or Max Payne 3 + Season Pass for just 20 cents more. And if you somehow missed the series completely, you can get Borderlands 2 and Borderlands GOTY Edition for $11.99. Insane.

And now, for the t-shirts! (more…)

Daily Scoop: December 9, 2013 – VGX 2013

So I missed the Video Game Awards for the first time ever, but that’s OK, because John Scalzo has me – and anyone else who missed them – covered. Check out all the amazing Warp Zoned coverage of VGX 2013 here!

I have to be honest – I’m pretty glad there aren’t many sales going on today. My wallet could use a break after the last few weeks! But there is one great sale happening, and that is the Batman: Arkham City GOTY Edition for $9.99 over at Amazon.

Other than that, it’s just more t-shirts, as always! (more…)

Daily Scoop: December 6, 2013 – Weekend time

It’s almost time for the weekend, woo! I’m going to spend most of it doing homework, and if I can get that done in a reasonable amount of time, the rest will hopefully be spent on video games and movies. And maybe cookies. OK, definitely cookies.

There’s not really much going on today, so I’ll take this opportunity to remind you about the sweet video game books you can get over at Story Bundle right now! You’ve only got four more days to pick them up, so I advise getting them now. And you’ve got a week left to go on the Game Music Bundle 6. Seriously, these two bundles are amazing, and you should scoop them up immediately, if not sooner!

And, of course, there are some t-shirts up for sale: (more…)

Daily Scoop: December 5, 2013 – New Bundle-in-a-Box!

Good news for you indie game lovers: there’s a new Bundle-in-a-Box available! Get One Finger Death Punch, QbQbQb, Saviors, Cognition Episode 1, and Slender 5 Pages for $1.99. Pay more than the average and get Rooks Keep, Isaac The Adventurer, Cognition: Episode 2, Hairy Tales, Along Came A Spider, and The Grave Digger. All soundtracks are included no matter what you decide to pay!

There’s also a brand new Humble Weekly Sale as well! Pay what you want for Vincere Totus Astrum, Oddplanet, Splotches, Faerie Solitaire, MANOS: The Hands of Fate, and Pitiri 1977, as well as the game-creation software Multimedia Fusion 2. Pay more than $6 to also get Knytt Underground, Really Big Sky, and NightSky.

Over at Amazon, there’s a handful of Lightning Deals in video games, especially helpful to those of you trying to get Disney Infinity figures or Epic Mickey 2 special brushes.

The best deal of the day was found by Cheap Ass Gamer – there’s a forum post with a Toys R Us flyer advertising Pokemon Y for $19.99. That’s a deal and a half!

Daily Scoop: December 4, 2013 – Fund Dino Run 2!

Guys, I have a confession to make: I love the first Dino Run game. Nothing beats sitting around in your pajamas and doomsurfing your way through an afternoon. Which is why it’s really, really important that we all go back Dino Run 2 right now. Because you want to be able to play that beautiful, beautiful game… don’t you? Don’t you?!?!?!

For those of you who – like me – haven’t picked up Grand Theft Auto V yet, now might be your best chance before Christmas. It’s on sale for $39.99 right now, which might be the cheapest you’ll see it (other than that one time last week when it was $32.99 at Amazon).

There’s plenty going on over at the Humble Bundle site as well. There’s one day left on the Weekly Sale, which features a Philly-made game, Jamestown! If you don’t own that game, the bundle’s worth it for that alone. But, of course, there’s also Closure, which is another amazing game, and one of my personal favorites, Shatter. Then there’s the Humble Jumbo Bundle as well – pay what you want for Magicka and DLC, Natural Selection 2, and Sanctum 2. Pay more than the average to unlock Garry’s Mod, Orcs Must Die! 2: Complete Pack, and Serious Sam 3: BFE. As always, soundtracks are included in both bundles!

Oh, and you’ve still got time to pick up the Video Game Bundle at Story Bundle, as well as the fantastic Game Music Bundle 6. For $20, you get nine video game books and 24 video game soundtracks. I mean, come on! It’s a no-brainer.

Whew, that’s a lot of stuff. But wait: there’s more! Hit the break for some t-shirts, as always. (more…)

Daily Scoop: December 3, 2013 – Best Buy deals

Now that Cyber Monday is over, we can all get back to normal, right? Wait… there are still more deals happening? Geez, don’t these people ever get tired? Has this whole thing just turned into some kind of week-long spend-fest?

Anyway, the best deals I found today were over at Best Buy. They have some amazing video game deals you do not want to miss. The best deal on that list is Fire Emblem Awakening for $14.99. That’s the cheapest I’ve ever seen it. If you don’t own that game, buy it right now! Seriously, do yourself a favor. It’s fantastic.

Amazon’s got some sales as well, the most prominent one being their Ubisoft deals. Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is $29.99 and Rocksmith 2014 Edition is $32.99. You might be interested in the Lightning Deals as well, including 007 Legends for $7.99 and Max Payne 3 for $9.99.

Need a few t-shirts? I’ve got you covered. (more…)

Daily Scoop: December 2, 2013 – So many deals

So, it’s Cyber Monday, and I seriously feel more inundated with sales today than I did on Black Friday. I mean really – it’s been obscene. I’ve gotten emails from just about every single place I’ve ordered anything from, ever, with the exception of maybe Kickstarter. So if you haven’t spent enough money yet in the last few days, get ready for some serious deals.

As can be expected, there are tons of crazy Lightning Deals happening at Amazon – just filter those bad boys by “Video Games” and you can see the madness, including the Gran Turismo 5 XL Edition for $7.99. Yowza! There’s a sale over at Steam, of course, and my recommendation is that you pick up Beatbuddy right now for $3.74.

Penny Arcade is having a big sale today on their First Party Collection, which is typically pretty expensive but is now just slightly less expensive. The Gearbox Store is offering $10 off hoodies and $5 off t-shirts, meaning that zer0 hoody I want is now cheaper, woo! And ThinkGeek’s absurd sale will probably blow your mind. It even includes free shipping!

If you’re looking for something a little off the radar, you should check out the Game Music Festival bundles, which are great deals on amazing video game music. You could also grab some last-minute t-shirts with Tee Fury and The Yetee‘s Cyber Monday grab bags! Oh, and also, this isn’t a deal, but my friend Shawn Pierre just launched the Kickstarter for his amazing card game, These French Fries Are Terrible Hot Dogs. It’s a game of lying, love, and just a little bit of mustard. You want it – trust me.

And if that’s not enough, well, I’ve still got some t-shirts for you! (more…)
