First CoD Black Ops Declassified details outed by Walmart

Sony gave gamers their first taste of Call of Duty on the Vita during this year’s E3 Expo when they announced the game’s full title, Call Of Duty: Black Ops Declassified. But for those of you looking for more than the name, a product listing on Walmart.com has revealed a few more details on the game. For example, apparently, Declassified is being designed as an original game within the Call of Duty fiction with an “all-new campaign.” It’ll also include “multiplayer combat tailored for the PS Vita.”

Here’s the full product description:

Before the future could be won, history had to be written. Exposing that story exclusively on PlayStation Vita, Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified explores original fiction in the Call of Duty Black Ops universe with an all-new campaign of Special Ops missions. Optimized for gamers on-the-go, Call of Duty Black Ops: Declassified delivers the most intense handheld Call of Duty experience to date, including both Special Ops Story mode and multiplayer combat tailored for the PS Vita.

THQ handcuffs Saints Row: Enter the Dominatrix expansion to Saints Row 4

First, the bad news… THQ has cancelled Saints Row: The Third – Enter the Dominatrix.

Now, the good news… THQ cancelled Saints Row: The Third – Enter the Dominatrix so they could incorporate the content from the standalone expansion into Saints Row 4, which was given a 2013 release date!

THQ’s new President, Jason Rubin, had some very interesting things to say about the decision: “I asked the team what it could achieve given more time, more resources, and a broader scope for the project. We all agreed we wanted to play that game. When it comes to Saints Row, it’s clear our fans want bigger, better, and even more over the top.”

That is quite the reversal for Rubin who, just a little over a week ago, told reporters that he thought Saints Row: The Third was “embarrassing.”

Another major question has emerged from this news, and that’s the fate of Volition’s Insane. The first part of Guillermo Del Toro’s video game trilogy was originally scheduled for a 2013 release, but with Volition hard at work on Saints Row 4, will they have time to finish the horror title too?

Of course, considering Rubin’s comments last week, Insane may already be cancelled.

Okami HD with Move support heading to PSN

In a move that is sure to win back fans after a series of DLC controversies, Capcom has unveiled a high definition version of cult classic Okami exclusively for the PlayStation Network.

The PS2 game has already enjoyed a reprise on the Wii, and although there was a learning curve with the motion controls, it proved a more visceral experience painting Amaterasu’s sumi-e ink spells with the Wiimote than with a pair of analogue sticks. Now PlayStation 3 users will enjoy the same fluidity, as the game is compatible with the Move and with incorporated PS3 Trophies.

If you have not played the original, then this will be well worth the $19.99 price tag, although I am personally hoping that Capcom has a sequel up their sleeve.

Okami HD will be available on the PSN this Fall.

PS Store Today: Ghost Recon Future Solider, Lego Batman 2, more

It’s Tuesday afternoon, so that means gamers across the country are about to receive another massive PlayStation Store update from Sony. This week’s theme appears to be sequel-related.

For example, there’s the latest entry in the Ghost Recon series, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier (PS3). There’s also the most recent Lego game, Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes (Vita). Rounding out the Full Games update is Two Worlds II: Velvet Game Of The Year Edition (PS3), which took its name from the velvet case it originally came in. Kind of hard to replicate that on the PS Store.

On the PSN front, there’s Magic: The Gathering – Duels Of The Planeswalkers 2013, which is a sequel to the equally tongue-twisting Magic: The Gathering – blah blah blah 2012.

Finally, the PSone Classic Tomba! is now available to download from the PSN. It’s not a sequel, but it did eventually receive a sequel and maybe that game will make an appearance in a future PS Store update.

Daily Scoop – June 19, 2012 – Cranky edition

It’s a beautiful Tuesday, which should mean I’m in a mood to match, but I’m super cranky for some reason. My stomach’s been acting up again, so no coffee for me, and no coffee means tired Nicole, and tired Nicole usually means cranky Nicole. Sigh. I just want to play my DS all day…

What’s up in the deal world today? Not too much, sadly. Amazon is offering $10 off Xbox Live 3 Month Gold Memberships, bringing them down to $14.99 from $24.99. Also, if you buy a Kinect sensor with Kinect Adventures, you’ll receive Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor for free. Not bad, not bad.

Not much else going on, really – other than all the neat stuff you can get for pre-ordering games right now. If you pre-order Amazing Spider-Man, you get the Stan Lee Adventure Pack, which lets you look for missing pages from Lee’s latest script. Oh, and he voices it, too. Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy comes with a gripped stylus and stickers to put on it. Talk about adorable!

Doom 3: BFG Edition will light up store shelves in October

Bethesda Softworks has announced a release date for id Software’s remastered rendition of Doom 3, Doom 3: BFG Edition. The game, available on the PS3 and Xbox 360 for the first time, will be released on October 16 in North America and on October 19 across Europe. A PC version will hit store shelves in both regions on the same day.

Not only will the Doom 3: BFG Edition collect Doom 3, the Resurrection of Evil expansion pack, and a new set of stages (dubbed “The Lost Mission” by id), but it’ll also include Doom and Doom II. The package will also feature plenty of tweaks and improvements such as a 3D display option, Achievements/Trophies, improved rendering and lighting, a new checkpoint save system, an always-on flashlight, and support for head-mounted displays.

The Doom 3: BFG Edition will be priced at $39.99 on the PS3 and Xbox 360. The PC version will carry an even lower $29.99 price.

CoD Elite content for June is now available on Xbox Live

It’s that time again… this month’s batch of Call of Duty Elite content for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has been added to the Xbox Live Marketplace by Activision. As always, this content will make it’s way to the PC and PS3 “soon.”

This month, Modern Warfare 3 players will be treated to a new Spec Ops Mission and three new 1v1 or 2v2 “Face Off” maps. Want the details on all four maps? Hit the jump to read all about them. (more…)

TriForce to debut limited edition Catwoman Replica Trophy at Comic-Con

Not content with creating a full scale replica of Batman: Arkham City’s Batarang and a standard Riddler Trophy, the geniuses at Project TriForce have created a limited edition Catwoman Trophy exclusively for this year’s San Diego Comic-Con.

The Pink Catwoman Riddler Trophy Full Scale Replica is hand-finished and hand-painted to precision quality. Intricately crafted and cast in polystone, it measures 19″ in height, weighs in at 8 pounds, and features working LED effects!

While not ready just yet (if the big question mark didn’t give it away), the company will be taking pre-orders at the event with delivery sometime in late 2012. Although quite pricey at $400, it will be a limited edition piece, with only 100 being made. Those unable to attend Comic Con may still have a chance to pre-order one via TriForce’s online newsletter.

So pre-order it before she steals them all!
