Akuma, Taskmaster sneak into Marvel vs Capcom 3 as secret characters
IGN has posted videos revealing the two latest additions to the roster of Marvel vs Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds: Akuma and Taskmaster.
Akuma is Ryu’s red-headed archenemy from the Street Fighter franchise while Taskmaster is a Marvel villain that most often clashes with Deadpool. According to Eurogamer, both characters won’t be selectable at the start of the game. Akuma will be unlocked after acquiring 2,000 Players Points while Taskmaster requires 8,000. Eurogamer also claims that Capcom plans to round out the Marvel vs Capcom 3 roster by revealing two more characters.
You can see gameplay footage of Akuma and Taskmaster in action after the break. (more…)

Gallery1988′s “Multiplayer” exhibit is awesome
Gallery1988, an art gallery in the Venice neighborhood of Los Angeles, launched a new exhibit last night titled “Multiplayer”, which consists of limited edition posters inspired by video games. The exhibit includes the awesome Frogger PSA poster to your left as well as prints based on The Legend of Zelda, Final Fantasy, Tetris, Silent Hill and Duck Hunt.
If you don’t live in California, you can check out some of the posters at Super Punch and OMG Posters! (The Overworld, My Tetris Heart Longs For Your Push and I’m alone there now, in our special place, waiting for you.).
The show will run through February 4.
Buy 2 games, Get 1 free at Best Buy this week
![]()
Do you still have a few gift cards burning a hole in your pocket after Christmas? Then I suggest you head down to your local Best Buy this week to stock up on games as the retailer is running a “Buy 2 Games, Get 1 Free” promotion this week (Sunday, January 16 – Saturday, January 22).
The sale applies to every DS, PSP, PlayStation 3, Wii and Xbox 360 game priced $29.99 and up. And shoppers are encouraged to mix and match games among the five systems. The promotion also includes LittleBigPlanet 2, Mindjack, Mass Effect 2 on the PS3 and the rest of this week’s new releases.
So good luck and good (bargain) hunting.
SOCOM 4 likely deploying this April

A small article on Sony’s quest to target core gamers with the PlayStation Move in the Wall Street Journal’s technology blog, “Digits“, has confirmed that SOCOM 4: US Navy SEALs will be released in April. Well, perhaps “confirmed” is too strong of a word as the article cites no sources for the release date, but later says they talked to Travis Steiner, lead designer of SOCOM 4 at Zipper Interactive.
We’ll keep you posted on any official release date news from Sony.

Sony has announced that the Jak & Daxter/Ratchet & Clank/Sly Cooper mega-crossover PlayStation Move Heroes will be released on March 22. As you can guess from the title, the game requires the PlayStation Move controller.
Developer Nihilistic Software has also revealed that PS3 owners who pre-order the game will receive a download code for an exclusive costume pack featuring Pirate Sly, Freedom League Jak and Trillium Armor Ratchet.

Daily Scoop: January 15, 2011 – The Key…Blade?
I’m bringing you today’s Daily Scoop live from my hotel room at MAGFest! I should be watching a screening of the live action Mega Man film, but I slept in instead. D’oh!
Anyway, today’s Amazon Deal of the Day in video games is a download of Reign: Conflict of Nations for the PC. The price is…ahh…currently unavailable for some reason, but if it’s something you’re interested in, keep tapping F5.
In the meantime, Kingdom Hearts fans can check out today’s shirt.w00t.com t-shirt, which I’m assuming is a pretty cool looking Keyblade. If I’d ever played the games, I’d probably be drooling over the shirt – and even without playing them, I think it looks pretty cool.
Wear this shirt: while waiting for your significant other at the end of a Valentine’s Day scavenger hunt.
Mike Gutierrez and I are off to try to find some treasure chests. If you’re at MAGFest, say hello!
